¹ It was in the days when the judges judged, that a famine came over the land, and a man from Bethlehem in Judah went to sojourn in the fields of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons. ² The name of the man was Elimelech, the name of his wife was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem in Judah. They came to the fields of Moab and stayed there. ³ When Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died, she remained, she and her two sons. ⁴ They took up Moabite wives for themselves; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the second was Ruth. And they dwelt there about ten years. ⁵ Then Mahlon and Chilion, both of them, also died. Thus the woman remained without her two boys and without her husband. ⁶ She got up with her daughters-in-law to return from the fields of Moab, for she had heard in the field of Moab that Yahweh had visited His people and given them bread. ⁷ So she went forth from the place where she had been; and her two daughters-in-law were with her when they went on the road to return to the area of Judah. ⁸ Yet Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, Go, turn back, each of you to her mother's house. May Yahweh deal kindly with you, just as you have dealt with the dead and with me. ⁹ May Yahweh grant you that each may find a resting-place in the house of her husband. When she kissed them, they lifted up their voice and wept. ¹⁰ They said to her, No, but with you we shall return to your people. ¹¹ Naomi replied, Turn back, my daughters! Why should you go with me? Have I yet sons in my internal parts who might become husbands for you? ¹² Turn back, my daughters! Go, for too old am I to belong to a husband. Even if I would say, There is expectation for me, even if I would belong to a husband tonight, even if I would bear sons, ¹³ should you look forward for them until they grow up? Should you refrain from marriage for them so as not to belong to a husband? It must not be, my daughters, for it is exceedingly more bitter for me than for you; for against me went forth the hand of Yahweh. ¹⁴ Then they lifted up their voice and wept again; and Orpah kissed her husband's mother and turned back to her people. As for Ruth, she clung to her. ¹⁵ So Naomi said to Ruth, Behold, your sister-in-law has turned back to her people and to her elohim. Turn back after your sister-in-law. ¹⁶ Ruth replied, You must not persuade me to forsake you, to turn away from following you; for wherever you go I shall go, and wherever you lodge I shall lodge. Your people will be my people, and your Elohim my Elohim. ¹⁷ Where you die, I shall die; and there I shall be entombed. Thus may Yahweh do to me and thus add to it if anything but death parts me from you. ¹⁸ When Naomi realized that she was resolute to go with her, she left off arguing with her further. ¹⁹ So they went, both of them, until they came to Bethlehem. It came about as they entered Bethlehem, that the whole city was clamoring over them, and the women said, Is this Naomi? ²⁰ She replied to them, You must not call me Naomi. Call me Mara, for He Who-Suffices has brought intense bitterness on me. ²¹ I was full when I went out, yet empty has Yahweh caused me to return. Why call me Naomi when Yahweh has humbled me, and He Who-Suffices has done evil to me? ²² Thus Naomi returned, and Ruth her Moabite daughter-in-law being with her who had turned away from the fields of Moab. They came to Bethlehem at the start of the barley harvest.

¹⁰ And coming is a famine in the land. And down is Abram going to Egypt to sojourn there, for heavy is the famine in the land.

¹ And coming is Abram to be ninety nine years of age. And appearing is Yahweh to Abram and is saying to him, "I am the El-Who-Suffices. Walk before Me and become flawless.

¹⁷ Then falling is Abraham on his face. And laughing is he and saying in his heart, "To one a hundred years of age shall a son be born? And should Sarah, ninety years of age, be bearing?

¹ And Yahweh visits Sarah, as He had said, and doing is Yahweh to Sarah as He had spoken.

¹ And coming is a famine in the land, aside from the first famine which came in the days of Abraham. And going is Isaac to Abimelech, king of the Philistines, to Gerar.

²⁷ And close is he coming and kissing him. And smelling is he the smell of his garments and is blessing him, saying, "See! The smell of my son is as the smell of the full field blessed by Yahweh.

²⁰ And vowing is Jacob a vow, saying, "Should it be coming that Yahweh Elohim stands by me, and keeps me in this way which I am going, and gives to me bread to eat and a garment to put on,

¹¹ And Jacob is kissing Rachel, and is lifting up his voice and lamenting.

²⁸ And you did not let me kiss my sons and my daughters. Now, silly are you to do so.

⁵⁵ And early is Laban rising in the morning, and kissing is he his sons and his daughters and blessing them. And going is Laban, and returning to his place.

¹⁹ And dying is Rachel, and is being entombed on the way to Ephrath. (It is now Bethlehem..

¹¹ And saying is Judah to Thamar, his daughter-in-law, "Dwell a widow at your father's house till my son Shelah shall be grown. For,says he, "lest he, moreover, will die as his brothers.And going is Thamar and dwelling in her father's house.

¹ And the famine is heavy in the land.

¹⁴ And the El-Who-Suffices give you compassion before the man, so that he lets your other brother and Benjamin go! And I, as I am bereaved, am I bereaved!"

¹⁵ And kissing is he all his brothers and is weeping on them. And afterward his brothers speak with him.

¹⁵ And blessing them is he and saying, "The Elohim before Whom my forefathers, Abraham and Isaac, walked, the Elohim, my Shepherd from my youth till this day,

²⁵ And adjuring is Joseph the sons of Israel saying, "Visit, yea, visit you will the Elohim, and up shall you bring my bones with you.

¹⁶ Go, and you will gather the elders of the sons of Israel and say to them, Yahweh, the Elohim of your fathers, appeared to me, the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, I have noticed, yea noticed you and what is being done to you in Egypt.

³¹ Hence the people believed; when they heard that Yahweh notices the sons of Israel and that He sees their humiliation, then they bowed their heads and bowed themselves down.

³ and I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as the El-Who-Suffices; as to My name Yahweh, I was not fully realized by them.

³¹ (And the flax and the barley were smitten, for the barley was pollinated, and the flax was in pod;" ³² yet the wheat and the spelt were not smitten, for they were in blade..

⁴ Then Yahweh said to Moses: Behold Me causing bread from the heavens to rain for you. When the people will go forth they will pick up a day's matter in its day, that I may probe them, whether they shall go by My law or not. ⁵ And it will come to be on the sixth day when they prepare what they are bringing in that there will come to be a duplicate amount over that which they are picking up day by day. ⁶ So Moses and Aaron said to all the sons of Israel: This evening, then you will know that it was Yahweh Who brought you forth from the land of Egypt.

²⁷ Then Moses dismissed his father-in-law; so he went by himself to his land.

¹⁹ I will break the pomp of your strength and make your heavens like iron and your land like copper.

¹⁵ And indeed, the hand of Yahweh came to be against them to discomfit them from among the camp, until they had come to end.

⁴ Yet you who were clinging to Yahweh your Elohim, all of you are alive today.

³ nor shall you intermarry with them. You shall not give your daughter to his son, and you shall not take his daughter for your son.

²⁰ Yahweh your Elohim shall you fear, and Him shall you serve; to Him shall you cling, and by His name shall you swear.

³ No Ammonite or Moabite shall come into the assembly of Yahweh. Even the tenth generation from them shall not come into the assembly of Yahweh for the eon,

⁵ In case brothers dwell together, and one of them dies, and he has no son, the wife of the dead one shall not come to the outside, to an alien man. Her brother-in-law shall come to her, and he will take her to himself as his wife and perform the levirate for her.

²³ Your heavens that are over your head will come to be as copper, and the earth that is beneath you as iron. ²⁴ Yahweh shall make the rain of your land to be dust and soil-drifts; from the heavens it shall descend on you until you are exterminated.

³⁸ Much seed shall you bring forth to the field, yet little shall you gather, for the locust shall eat it up.

³⁹ See now that I, I am He, and there is no other elohim besides Me. I Myself put to death, and I keep alive; I have transfixed, and I Myself shall heal, and there is no one who could reclaim from My hand!"

¹⁵ and if wrong in your eyes to serve Yahweh--choose for you to-day whom you do serve; --whether the elohims whom your fathers served, which [are] beyond the River, or the elohims of the Amorite in whose land you are dwelling; and I and my house--we serve Yahweh..

¹⁹ And Joshua said unto the people, `You are not able to serve Yahweh, for an Elohim most holy He [is]; a zealous El He [is]; He does not bear with your transgression and with your sins. <sup>20</sup> When you forsake Yahweh, and have served elohims of a stranger, then He has turned back and done evil to you, and consumed you, after that He has done good to you.. <sup>21</sup> And the people said unto Joshua, `No, but Yahweh we do serve.. ²² And Joshua said unto the people, `Witnesses you are against yourselves, that you have chosen for you Yahweh to serve Him (and they say, `Witnesses!'. ²³ and, now, turn aside the elohims of the stranger which [are] in your midst, and incline your heart unto Yahweh, Elohim of Israel.. ²⁴ And the people say unto Joshua, `Yahweh our Elohim we serve, and to His voice we hearken.. <sup>25</sup> And Joshua makes a covenant with the people on that day, and lays on it a statute and an ordinance, in Shechem. <sup>26</sup> And Joshua writes these words in the Book of the Law of Elohim, and takes a great stone, and raises it up there under the oak which [is] in the sanctuary of Yahweh. <sup>27</sup> And Joshua said unto all the people, `Lo, this stone is against us for a witness, for it has heard all the sayings of Yahweh which He has spoken with us, and it has been against you for a witness, lest you lie against your Elohim.. ²⁸ And Joshua sends the people away, each to his inheritance.

¹⁵ in every [place] where they have gone out, the hand of Yahweh has been against them for evil, as Yahweh has spoken, and as Yahweh has sworn to them, and they are distressed--greatly. ¹⁶ And Yahweh raises up judges, and they save them from the hand of their spoilers;" ¹⁷ and also unto their judges they have not hearkened, but have gone a-whoring after other elohims, and bow themselves to them; they have turned aside [with] haste out of the way [in] which their fathers walked to obey the commands of Yahweh--they have not done so. ¹⁸ And when Yahweh raised up to them judges--then was Yahweh with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it repents Yahweh, because of their groaning from the presence of their oppressors, and of those thrusting them away.

²⁴ That which Chemosh your elohim causes you to possess--do you not possess it? and all that which Yahweh our Elohim has dispossessed from our presence, --it we do possess.

⁸ And after him Ibzan of Beth-Lehem judges Israel,

⁸ And the man goes out of the city, out of Beth-Lehem-Judah, to sojourn where he does find, and comes to the hill-country of Ephraim, unto the house of Micah, to work his way.

¹ And it comes to pass, in those days, when there is no king in Israel, that there is a man a Levite, a sojourner in the sides of the hill-country of Ephraim, and he takes to him a wife, a concubine, out of Beth-Lehem-Judah;" ² and commit whoredom against him does his concubine, and she goes from him unto the house of her father, unto Beth-Lehem-Judah, and is there days--four months.

⁵ Then Mahlon and Chilion, both of them, also died. Thus the woman remained without her two boys and without her husband.

¹⁰ They said to her, No, but with you we shall return to your people.

¹⁴ Then they lifted up their voice and wept again; and Orpah kissed her husband's mother and turned back to her people. As for Ruth, she clung to her.

¹¹ Boaz answered and said to her, It was told, yea told to me, all that you have done for your husband's mother since the death of your husband, how you forsook your father and your mother and the country of your birth and went to a people you had not known heretofore. ¹² May Yahweh repay your deeds. May your reward be equitable from Yahweh the Elohim of Israel, under Whose wings you have come to take refuge.

²⁰ Naomi replied to her daughter-in-law, Blessed be he by Yahweh, Who has not forsaken His benignity toward the living and the dead. And Naomi explained to her, This man is a near relative of ours; he is one of our kinsmen redeemers.

²³ So she followed hard behind the maidens of Boaz, and gleaned until the barley harvest and the wheat harvest were finished. And she dwelt with her husband's mother.

¹ Naomi, her husband's mother, said to her, My daughter, behold, I should seek a resting place for you that it may be well with you.

¹ And there is a certain man of Ramathaim-Zophim, of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name [is] Elkanah, son of Jeroham, son of Elihu, son of Tohu, son of Zuph, and Ephrathite,

⁷ Yahweh dispossesses, and He makes rich, He makes low, yea, He makes high. ⁸ He raises from the dust the poor, From a dunghill He lifts up the needy, To cause [them] to sit with nobles, Yea, a throne of honor He does cause them to inherit, For to Yahweh [are] the fixtures of earth, And He sets on them the habitable world.

²¹ When Yahweh has looked after Hannah, then she conceives and bears three sons and two daughters; and the youth Samuel grows up with Yahweh.

¹⁷ And he said, `What [is] the word which He has spoken unto you? I pray you, hide it not from me; so does Elohim do to you, and so does He add, if you hide from me a word of all the words that He has spoken unto you..

¹¹ And they send and gather all the princes of the Philistines, and say, `Send away the ark of the Elohim of Israel, and it turns back to its place, and it does not put us to death--and our people;' for there has been a deadly destruction throughout all the city, very heavy has the hand of Elohim been there,

²¹ and Israel and the Philistines set in array rank to meet rank.

²² thus does Elohim do to the enemies of David, and thus He does add, if I leave of all that he has till the light of the morning--of those sitting on the wall..

⁹ thus does Elohim to Abner, and thus He does add to him, surely as Yahweh has sworn to David--surely so I do to him.

³⁵ And all the people come to cause David to eat bread while yet day, and David swears, saying, `Thus does Elohim to me, and thus He does add, for--before the going in of the sun, I taste no bread or any other thing..

¹⁹ And the king said unto Ittai the Gittite, `Why do you go--you also--with us? turn back--and abide with the king, for you [are] a stranger, and also an exile you--to your place. <sup>20</sup> Yesterday [is] your coming in, and to-day I move you to go with us, and I am going on that which I am going! --turn back, and take back your brethren with you, --kindness and truth.. <sup>21</sup> And Ittai answers the king and said, `Yahweh lives, and my lord the king lives, surely in the place where my lord the king is--if for death, if for life, surely there is your servant..

¹³ And to Amasa say you, Are not you my bone and my flesh? Thus does Elohim do to me, and thus He does add, if you are not head of the host before me all the days instead of Joab..

¹ And there is a famine in the days of David three years, year after year, and David seeks the face of Yahweh, and Yahweh said, `For Saul and for the bloody house, because that he put to death the Gibeonites..

⁹ and gives them into the hand of the Gibeonites, and they hang them in the hill before Yahweh; and the seven fall together, and they have been put to death in the days of harvest, in the first [days], the commencement of barley-harvest.

²³ And king Solomon swears by Yahweh, saying, `Thus does Elohim to me, and thus He does add--surely against his soul has Adonijah spoken this word;"

¹ And king Solomon has loved many strange women, and the daughter of Pharaoh, females of Moab, Ammon, Edom, Zidon, [and] of the Hittites, ² of the nations of which Yahweh said unto the sons of Israel, `You do not go in to them, and they do not go in to you; surely they turn aside your heart after their elohims;' to them has Solomon cleaved for love.

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, `Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, lives, before whom I have stood, there is not these years dew and rain, except according to my word.. <sup>2</sup> And the word of Yahweh is unto him, saying, <sup>3</sup> `Go from this [place]; and you have turned for you eastward, and been hidden by the brook Cherith, that [is] on the front of the Jordan, ⁴ and it has been, from the brook you do drink, and the ravens I have commanded to sustain you there.. ⁵ And he goes and does according to the word of Yahweh, yea, he goes and dwells by the brook Cherith, that [is] on the front of the Jordan, ⁶ and the ravens are bringing to him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening, and of the brook he drinks. ⁷ And it comes to pass, at the end of days, that the brook dries up, for there has been no rain in the land, ⁸ and the word of Yahweh is unto him, saying, ⁹ `Rise, go to Zarephath, that [is] to Zidon, and you have dwelt there; lo, I have commanded there a widow woman to sustain you.. <sup>10</sup> And he rises, and goes to Zarephath, and comes in unto the opening of the city, and lo there, a widow woman gathering sticks, and he calls unto her, and said, `Bring, I pray you, to me, a little water in a vessel, and I drink.. ¹¹ And she goes to bring [it], and he calls unto her and said, `Bring, I pray you, to me a morsel of bread in your hand.. <sup>12</sup> And she said, `Yahweh your Elohim lives, I have not a cake, but the fulness of the hand of meal in a pitcher, and a little oil in a dish; and lo, I am gathering two sticks, and have gone in and prepared it for myself, and for my son, and we have eaten it--and died..

² and Elijah goes to appear unto Ahab. And the famine is severe in Samaria,

² and Jezebel sends a messenger unto Elijah, saying, `Thus does the elohims, and thus do they add, surely about this time to-morrow, I make your life as the life of one of them..

²⁰ and he forsakes the oxen, and runs after Elijah, and said, `Let me give a kiss, I pray you, to my father and to my mother, and I go after you.' And he said to him, `Go, turn back, for what have I done to you?.

¹⁰ And Ben-Hadad sends unto him, and said, `Thus do the elohims to me, and thus do they add, if the dust of Samaria suffice for handfuls for all the people who [are] at my feet..

² and Elijah said unto Elisha, `Abide, I pray you, here, for Yahweh has sent me unto Beth-El;' and Elisha said, `Yahweh lives, and your soul lives, if I leave you;' and they go down to Beth-El.

² and Elijah said unto Elisha, `Abide, I pray you, here, for Yahweh has sent me unto Beth-El;' and Elisha said, `Yahweh lives, and your soul lives, if I leave you;' and they go down to Beth-El. ³ And sons of the prophets who [are] in Beth-El come out unto Elisha, and say unto him, `Have you known that to-day Yahweh is taking your lord from your head?' and he said, `I also have known--keep silent.. ⁴ And Elijah said to him, `Elisha, abide, I pray you, here, for Yahweh has sent me to Jericho;' and he said, `Yahweh lives, and your soul lives, if I leave you;' and they come in to Jericho. ⁵ And sons of the prophets who [are] in Jericho come nigh unto Elisha, and say unto him, `Have you known that to-day Yahweh is taking your lord from your head?' and he said, `I also have known--keep silent.. ⁶ And Elijah said to him, `Abide, I pray you, here, for Yahweh has sent me to the Jordan;' and he said, `Yahweh lives, and your soul lives, if I leave you;' and they go on both of them,

¹ And a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets has cried unto Elisha, saying, `Your servant, my husband, is dead, and you have known that your servant was fearing Yahweh, and the lender has come to take my two children to him for servants..

³¹ And he said, `Thus does Elohim do to me, and thus He does add--if it remain--the head of Elisha son of Shaphat--upon him this day..

¹ And Elisha spoke unto the woman whose son he had revived, saying, `Rise and go, you and your household, and sojourn where you do sojourn, for Yahweh has called for a famine, and also, it is coming unto the land seven years.. ² And the woman rises, and does according to the word of the man of Elohim, and goes, she and her household, and sojourns in the land of the Philistines seven years. ³ And it comes to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman turns back from the land of the Philistines, and goes out to cry unto the king, for her house, and for her field.

²¹ And he said, Naked I came forth from the belly of my mother, and naked I shall return there. Yahweh, He gives, and Yahweh, He takes away. Blessed be the name of Yahweh.

¹⁷ Behold, happy is the mortal whom Eloah corrects; Thus you must not reject the admonition of Him Who Suffices.

⁴ For the arrows of Him Who Suffices are in me; Their venom is what my spirit has been drinking; Frightenings from Eloah are arrayed against me.

¹⁷ You renew Your testimonies in front of me, And You increase Your vexation against me; Changes of troops come upon me.

⁷ Can you find out the fathoming of Eloah? Could you find out the perfection of Him Who Suffices?

²⁶ That You may write bitter things against me, And impute to me the depravities of my youth,

⁸ And You arrest me. This has become the testimony against me, And it rises against me:That is, my emaciation answers against my face.

⁶ Know indeed that Eloah Himself has overturned me, And He has entrapped me with His weir.

²¹ Be gracious to me! be gracious to me, you, my associates! For the hand of Eloah has touched me.

³ Concerning the saints, who are in the land, They are noble ones; all my delight is in them."

⁴ For by day and night, Your hand was heavy upon me; My freshness was turned into the droughts of summer. {Interlude{ "

¹⁹ Many are the evils on the righteous one, But Yahweh shall rescue him from them all,

³ The words of his mouth are lawlessness and deceit; He evades even to contemplate doing good.

² For Your arrows have settled deep in me, And Your hand is settling down on me."

⁹ I have become mute; I shall not open my mouth, For You Yourself have acted." ¹⁰ Withdraw Your touch from me; I am exhausted from the stirring up of Your hand.

¹⁰ Hear, O daughter, and see, and stretch out your ear, And forget your people and the house of your father."

¹⁴ I am touched by ills the entire day, And my correction begins in the mornings."

¹⁵ From my youth have I been humbled and wearied unto death; I have borne the dread of You; I am distracted.

³⁰ If his sons should forsake My law, And they should not walk in My ordinances, ³¹ If they should profane My statutes And should not keep My instructions, ³² Then I will visit their transgression with a club, And their depravity with contagions."

¹⁴ You are the One making grass sprout for the beasts And herbage for the service of humanity, To bring forth bread from the earth" ¹⁵ And wine that makes the heart of a mortal rejoice, To make the face lustrous with oil, And bread that braces the heart of mortal man."

¹⁶ He called forth a famine on the earth; He broke off the entire stock of bread.

³⁴ A fruitful area into a salty waste, Because of the evil of those dwelling in it."

⁵ He gave viands to those fearing Him; He shall remember His covenant for the eon.

⁶³ I am a partner to all who fear You, And to those keeping Your precepts."

⁵ As for those who turn aside to their tortuous ways, May Yahweh banish them with the contrivers of lawlessness. Peace be on Israel."

¹⁵ Its provision shall I bless, yea bless; Its needy ones shall I satisfy with bread;"

¹⁵ The eyes of all place hopefulness on You, And You are giving them their food in its season,

⁷ He is the One executing right judgment for those being exploited, The Giver of bread to the famished, Yahweh, letting loose those who are bound,

¹⁴ The One giving peace in your territory, He is satisfying you with the fat of wheat;"

¹⁷ The close associate keeps friendship at all times, And a brother is born to share distress."

²⁴ There are associates disposed to be evildoers, Yet there is one with love more loyal than a brother's."

⁸ Put futility and the lying word far from me; Destitution or riches do not give to me; Only provide me a meal of my daily dole of bread,

¹ For Yahweh will have compassion on Jacob, and He chooses still in Israel, and He leaves them on their own ground. And the sojourners are obligated to them, and they are adherents to the house of Jacob."

⁷ Was this your joy from the days aforetime? In antiquity her feet fetched her from afar to sojourn.

¹³ I compensate till the morning. As a lion, so is He breaking all my bones. From day unto night are You causing me to repay."

²¹ And you say in your heart, `Who generated these for me, while I was bereaved and a widow, and deported and withdrawn? And these--who brought them up for me? Behold! I remained alone. Yet these-- whereat were they?'"

¹⁰ For, as descending is the downpour and the snow from the heavens, yet there it is not returning, but rather soaks the earth, and causes it to bear and to sprout, and gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

¹⁹ Instruct you does your wickedness, And your backslidings reprove you, Know and see that an evil and a bitter thing [Is] your forsaking Yahweh your Elohim, And My fear not being on you, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh of Hosts."

¹ That which has been the word of Yahweh unto Jeremiah concerning the matters of the dearths:

¹⁰ `For thus said Yahweh, Surely at the fulness of Babylon--seventy years--I inspect you, and have established towards you My good word, to bring you back unto this place."

¹⁵ They slap their palms at you, all who pass your way; They hiss and jerk their head to and fro at the daughter of Jerusalem:Is this the city which they call the consummation of loveliness, the elation of the entire earth?

¹ I am the master who has seen humiliation under the club of His rage; ² He leads me and makes me walk in darkness and not light; ³ Surely against me again and again He is turning His hand all the day. ⁴ He wears out my flesh and my skin; He breaks my bones; ⁵ He builds against me and encompasses me with destitution and stress; ⁶ He makes me dwell in utter darkness like the eonian dead. ⁷ He dikes me about so that I cannot go forth; He makes my copper fetters heavy; ⁸ Even when I cry out and implore, He shuts out my prayer;" ⁹ He dikes my ways with trimmed stone; He contorts my tracks. ¹⁰ A bear lying in ambush is He to me, a lion in concealments;" ¹¹ He withdraws me from my ways and tears me apart; He makes me desolate. ¹² He positions His bow and is setting me as a target for the arrow; ¹³ He pierces my innermost being with the sons of His quiver. ¹⁴ I have become the sport of all peoples, the accompaniment of their song all the day;" ¹⁵ He surfeits me with bitter herbs; He satiates me with wormwood. ¹⁶ He is breaking up my teeth on gravel; He makes me fare on ashes; ¹⁷ My soul is cast off from peace; I am oblivious of good; ¹⁸ And I think my endurance has perished, and my hope from Yahweh." ¹⁹ Remember my humiliation and my homelessness, the wormwood and poison;" ²⁰ My soul is remembering, yea remembering and is prostrate within me."

¹³ `Son of man, the land--when it sins against Me to commit a trespass, and I have stretched out My hand against it, and broken for it the staff of bread, and sent into it famine, and cut off from it man and beast--"

²¹ `For thus said the Lord Yahweh:Although My four sore judgments--sword, and famine, and wild beast, and pestilence--I have sent unto Jerusalem, to cut off from it man and beast,

⁴⁷ Answering is the king to Daniel and saying, "In verity, your Eloah, He is the Eloah of elohim, Lord of kings, and only Revealer of hidden secrets, seeing that you can reveal this secret."

²⁹ Now from me shall be promulgated a decree that, in every people, league, and language-group, whoever is saying aught carelessly against their Eloah--that of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego--shall be dismembered and his house shall be the equivalent of a confiscation, forasmuch as there is actually not another Eloah Who can rescue as this One."

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, am lauding and exalting and honoring the King of the heavens, seeing that all His deeds are verity, and His paths are adjudication; and all walking in pride He can abase."

⁴ And I am Yahweh, your Elohim, Who establishes the heavens and creates the earth, Whose hands created all the host of the heavens. Yet I did not show them to you that you should go after them, when I brought you up from the land of Egypt. You will not know an elohim except Me, and there is no Saviour, unless it is I."

¹⁰ The field is devastated; the ground mourns; for the grain is devastated. The grape juice is dried; the clarified oil is enfeebled. ¹¹ Be ashamed, farmers! Howl, vineyardists! Over the wheat and over the barley, for the harvest of the field perishes."

¹⁶ Is not the food cut off in front of our eyes, rejoicing and exultation from the house of our Elohim? ¹⁷ The parted seeds wizen beneath their dirt lumps:The treasuries are desolate; the underground hoards are demolished, for the grain is dried up." ¹⁸ How the beast sighs! The droves of oxen are doleful, for there is no pasture for them. Even the droves of small cattle are exterminated." ¹⁹ To You, Yahweh, am I calling, for fire devours the oases of the wilderness, and a blaze sets aflame all the trees of the field." ²⁰ Even the beasts of the field are sniffing for You, for the channels of water are dry, and fire devours the oases of the wilderness."

⁶ And, moreover, I give you teeth innocent of food in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places. Yet you do not return unto Me, (averring is Yahweh)."

² And you, Bethlehem Ephratah, inferior to be among the mentors of Judah, from you shall One fare forth for Me to become the Ruler in Israel; yet His farings forth are from aforetime, from days eonian."

⁶ and those turned away from after Yahweh, who do not seek Yahweh, nor inquire of Him."

⁷ And the sea board shall come to be for the remnant of the house of Judah; on them shall they graze; in the houses of Ashkelon shall they recline in the evening, for Yahweh, their Elohim, shall visit them, and will reverse their captivity."

²³ Thus says Yahweh of hosts:In those days ten mortals, from all the languages of the nations, will take fast hold. And they will take fast hold of the hem of a man, a Jew, saying, We will go with you, for we hear that Elohim is with you."

⁵ Then I will come near to you for judgment, and become a hastening witness against the enchanters and against the adulterers, and against those who are swearing in My name to falsehood, and against those extorting the hire of the hireling, and those tyrannizing over the widow and taunting the orphan, and turning aside the sojourner, and do not fear Me, says Yahweh of hosts."

⁵ now Salmon begets Boaz of Rahab; now Boaz begets Obed of Ruth; now Obed begets Jesse;

¹¹ Our bread, our dole, be giving us today."

¹⁹ And, approaching, one scribe said to Him, "Teacher, I will be following Thee wheresoever Thou mayest come away."

³⁷ He who is fond of father or mother above Me is not worthy of Me. And he who is fond of son or daughter above Me is not worthy of Me."

²⁰ Yet he who is being sown on the rocky places, this is he who is hearing the word and straightway with joy is getting it, ²¹ yet has no root in himself, but is temporary. Now at the coming of affliction or persecution because of the word, straightway he is snared."

²⁴ Then Jesus said to His disciples: "If anyone is wanting to come after Me, let him renounce himself and pick up his cross and follow Me."

²² Now, hearing this word, the youth came away sorrowing, for he had many acquisitions."

¹⁰ And at His entering into Jerusalem, the entire city is aquake, saying, "Who is this?

²⁵ Now there were with us seven brothers, and the first, marrying, deceases. And having no seed, he leaves his wife to his brother." ²⁶ Likewise the second also, and the third, till the seven." ²⁷ Now, subsequently to all, the woman died."

²¹ Now Jesus, looking at him, loves him, and said to him, "Still one thing you are wanting. Go. Whatever you have, sell, and be giving to the poor, and you will be having treasure in heaven. And hither! Follow Me, picking up the cross." ²² Yet he, being somber at the word, came away sorrowing, for he was one who has many acquisitions."

⁶⁸ Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, For He visits, and makes a redemption for His people,

¹² Now as He nears the gate of the city, lo! there was fetched out, being dead, an only-begotten son of his mother. And she was a widow. And a considerable throng of the city was with her."

²⁵ Now vast throngs went together with Him. And, being turned, He said to them, ²⁶ If anyone is coming to Me and is not hating his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, and still more his soul besides, he can not be My disciple." ²⁷ And anyone who is not bearing his cross and coming after Me, can not be My disciple. " ²⁸ For which of you, wanting to build a tower, is not first seated to calculate the expense, to see if he has the wherewithal?-" ²⁹ lest at some time, he laying a foundation and not being strong enough to finish up, all those beholding should begin to scoff at him, ³⁰ saying that 'This man begins building and is not strong enough to finish up!' ³¹ Or what king, going to engage another king in battle, will not, being seated, first plan to see if he is able to meet, with ten thousand, him who is coming against him with twenty thousand? ³² Otherwise, surely, at his being still at a distance, he, dispatching an embassy, is asking the terms of peace." ³³ Thus, then, everyone of you who is not taking leave of all of his possessions, can not be My disciple."

⁴⁴ and will be leveling you and your children in you, and they will not be leaving a stone on a stone in you, because you knew not the era of your visitation."

²⁸ And they draw near to the village where they went, and He does as though He were going further."

⁶⁶ At this, then, many of His disciples came away, dropping behind, and walked no longer with Him." ⁶⁷ Jesus, then, said to the twelve, "Not you also are wanting to go away!" ⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we come away? Declarations of life eonian hast Thou!" ⁶⁹ And we believe and know that Thou art the Holy One of God."

³⁷ Peter is saying to Him, "Lord, wherefore can not I follow Thee at present? My soul for Thy sake will I lay down."

⁴² Now they were persevering in the teaching of the apostles, and in fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers."

²³ who, coming along and perceiving the grace of God, rejoiced and entreated all with purpose of heart to be remaining in the Lord -"

³⁴ Yet some men, being joined to him, believe, among whom were Dionysius, the Areopagite, also, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them."

²⁴ But of nothing have I a word, nor yet am I making my soul precious to myself, till I should be perfecting my career and the dispensation which I got from the Lord Jesus, to certify the evangel of the grace of God."

³⁷ Now there came to be considerable lamentation by all, and falling on Paul's neck, they kissed him fondly,

¹³ Then Paul answered and said, "What are you doing, lamenting and unnerving my heart? For I hold myself in readiness, not only to be bound, but to die also in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus." ¹⁴ Now, as he was not persuaded, we are quiet, saying, "Let the will of the Lord be done!"

¹⁶ Now what concurrence has a temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, according as God said, that I will be making My home and will be walking in them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." ¹⁷ Wherefore, Come out of their midst and be severed, the Lord is saying. And touch not the unclean, and I will admit you, ¹⁸ and I will be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, says the Lord Almighty."

²² Let the wives be subject to their own husbands, as to the Lord,

² Honor your father and mother' (which is the first precept with a promise), ³ that it may be becoming well with you, and you should be a long time on the earth."

¹⁰ For the rest, brethren mine, be invigorated in the Lord and in the might of His strength."

¹⁸ Now I am collecting all, and am superabounding. I have been filled full, receiving from Epaphroditus the things from you, an odor fragrant, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God." ¹⁹ Now my God shall be filling your every need in accord with His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

¹⁸ Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is proper in the Lord."

²⁴ Being aware that from the Lord you will be getting the compensation of the enjoyment of an allotment: for the Lord Christ are you slaving.

⁹ for they are reporting concerning us, what kind of an entrance we have had to you, and how you turn back to God from idols, to be slaving for the living and true God,

⁹ Let no widow be listed of less than sixty years, having been the wife of one man,

⁸ Now, having sustenance and shelter, with these we shall be sufficed."

¹⁶ May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshes me and was not ashamed of my chain, ¹⁷ but, coming to be in Rome, he seeks me diligently and found me." ¹⁸ May the Lord grant to him to be finding mercy from the Lord in that day! And how much he serves in Ephesus you know quite well.

¹⁰ for Demas, loving the current eon, forsook me and went to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia."

³⁸ Now My "just one by faith shall be living,and "If he should ever be shrinking, My soul is not delighting in him." ³⁹ Yet we are not of those shrinking back to destruction, but of faith for the procuring of the soul."

⁶ For whom the Lord is loving He is disciplining, Yet He is scourging every son to whom He is assenting."

¹⁰ For these, indeed, disciplined for a few days as it seemed best to them, yet that One for our expedience, for us to be partaking of His holiness." ¹¹ Now all discipline, indeed, for the present is not seeming to be a thing of joy, but of sorrow, yet subsequently it is rendering the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those exercised through it."

¹² having your behavior among the nations ideal, that in that in which they are speaking against you as of evildoers, by being spectators of ideal acts they should be glorifying God in the day of visitation."

¹⁹ Out of us they come, but they were not of us, for if they were of us, they would have remained with us. But it was that they may be manifested that they are not all of us. "

⁸ I am the Alpha and the Omega,is saying the Lord God, Who is and Who was and Who is coming, the Almighty."

⁴ These are they who were not polluted with women, for they are celibates. These are those who are following the Lambkin wherever It should be going. These are bought from mankind, a firstfruit to God and the Lambkin."

²² And a temple I did not perceive in it, for the Lord God Almighty is its temple, and the Lambkin."
