¹ And Yahweh said unto Samuel, `Till when are you mourning for Saul, and I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill your horn with oil, and go, I send you unto Jesse the Beth-Lehemite, for I have seen among his sons for Myself a king. <sup>2</sup> And Samuel said, `How do I go? when Saul has heard, then he has slain me.' And Yahweh said, `A heifer of the herd you do take in your hand, and have said, To sacrifice to Yahweh I have come;" <sup>3</sup> and you have called for Jesse in the sacrifice, and I cause you to know that which you do do, and you have anointed to Me him of whom I speak unto you.. <sup>4</sup> And Samuel does that which Yahweh has spoken, and comes in to Beth-Lehem, and the elders of the city tremble to meet him, and [one] said, `Is your coming peace?. ⁵ and he said, `Peace; to sacrifice to Yahweh I have come, sanctify yourselves, and you have come in with me to the sacrifice;' and he sanctifies Jesse and his sons, and calls them to the sacrifice. <sup>6</sup> And it comes to pass, in their coming in, that he sees Eliab, and said, `Surely, before Yahweh [is] His anointed.. ⁷ And Yahweh said unto Samuel, `Look not unto his appearance, and unto the height of his stature, for I have rejected him; for [it is] not as man sees--for man looks at the eyes, and Yahweh looks at the heart.. <sup>8</sup> And Jesse calls unto Abinadab, and causes him to pass by before Samuel; and he said, `Also on this Yahweh has not fixed.. ⁹ And Jesse causes Shammah to pass by, and he said, `Also on this Yahweh has not fixed.. <sup>10</sup> And Jesse causes seven of his sons to pass by before Samuel, and Samuel said to Jesse, `Yahweh has not fixed on these.. ¹¹ And Samuel said unto Jesse, `Are the youngest men finished?' and he said, `Yet has been left the young; and lo, he delights himself among the flock;' and Samuel said unto Jesse, `Send and take him, for we do not turn round till his coming in hither.. <sup>12</sup> And he sends, and brings him in, and he [is] ruddy, with beauty of eyes, and of good appearance; and Yahweh said, `Rise, anoint him, for this [is] he.. ¹³ And Samuel takes the horn of oil, and anoints him in the midst of his brethren, and prosper over David does the Spirit of Yahweh from that day and onwards; and Samuel rises and goes to Ramath. ¹⁴ And the Spirit of Yahweh turned aside from Saul, and a spirit of sadness from Yahweh terrified him;" ¹⁵ and the servants of Saul say unto him, `Lo, we pray you, a spirit of sadness [from] Elohim is terrifying you;" <sup>16</sup> let our lord command, we pray you, your servants before you, they seek a skilful man, playing on a harp, and it has come to pass, in the spirit of sadness [from] Elohim being upon you, that he has played with his hand, and [it is] well with you.. <sup>17</sup> And Saul said unto his servants, `Provide, I pray you, for me a man playing well--then you have brought [him] in unto me.. ¹⁸ And one of the servants answers and said, `Lo, I have seen a son of Jesse the Beth-Lehemite, skilful in playing, and a mighty virtuous man, and a man of battle, and intelligent in word, and a man of form, and Yahweh [is] with him.. <sup>19</sup> And Saul sends messengers unto Jesse, and said, `Send unto me David your son, who [is] with the flock.. ²⁰ And Jesse takes an ass, [with] bread, and a bottle of wine, and one kid of the goats, and sends by the hand of David his son unto Saul. ²¹ And David comes in unto Saul, and stands before him, and he loves him greatly; and he is a bearer of his weapons. ²² And Saul sends unto Jesse, saying, `Let David, I pray you, stand before me, for he has found grace in mine eyes.. ²³ And it has come to pass, in the spirit of [sadness from] Elohim being on Saul, that David has taken the harp, and played with his hand, and Saul has refreshment and gladness, and the spirit of sadness has turned aside from off him.

² And coming is Yahweh to be with Joseph, and becoming is he a prosperous man. And coming is he to be in the house of his lord, the Egyptian.

⁶ And leaving is he all that is his in the hand of Joseph. And naught knows he of his, save the bread which he is eating. And coming is Joseph to have a lovely shape and a lovely appearance.

²³ Naught is the chief of the round-house prison seeing of all that is in his hand, in that Yahweh is with him, and all that he is doing Yahweh is prospering.

⁴⁶ And Joseph is thirty years old when he stands before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. And forth is Joseph faring from the face of Pharaoh, and passing through all the land of Egypt.

¹¹ And saying to them is Israel, their father, "If so, indeed, do this: Take from the pruned fruit trees of the land in your vessels, and take down to the man a present offering, a little balm and a little honey, perfume and labdanum, pistachio nuts and almonds.

⁷ And I, at my coming from Padan, Syria, Rachel, your mother, died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, while still some distance overland to come to Ephrath. And I entombed her there on the way to Ephrath.(It is now Bethlehem..

⁸ Judah, you and your brothers will acclaim. Your hands shall be on the scruff of your enemies. Prostrate to you shall the sons of your father. ⁹ The whelp of a lion is Judah. From the prey, my son, bow will he, recline as a lion. And as a parent lion, who will make him rise? ¹⁰ Not withdraw shall the sceptre from Judah, nor a statue-maker's staff from between his feet, till it be that ease shall come to him. And to it shall the expectation of the people be.

¹ As for Moses, he had become a shepherd of the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. Once he was leading the flock behind the wilderness and came to the Mount of the One, Elohim, to Horeb. ² Then the messenger of Yahweh appeared to him in a blaze of fire from the midst of a thornbush. So he stared, and behold, the thornbush was consuming with fire, yet the thornbush, it was not being devoured. ³ Hence Moses said: Let me withdraw, I pray, and discern this great sight, for what reason the thornbush is not being consumed. ⁴ When Yahweh saw that he withdrew to discern, Elohim called to him from the midst of the thornbush and said: Moses! Moses! So he answered: Behold me!" ⁵ Then he said: Do not come near hither! Ease your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing, this is ground of holiness. ⁶ And He said: I am the Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac and the Elohim of Jacob. Now Moses concealed his face, for he feared to look toward the One, Elohim. ⁷ Then Yahweh said: I see, yea see the humiliation of My people who are in Egypt. And I hear their crying because of the presence of their exactors; for I know their pains. ⁸ Hence I have descended to rescue them from the hand of Egypt and to bring them up from that land to a land good and wide, to a land gushing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Hivite and the Jebusite. ⁹ And now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me, and indeed, I have seen the oppression with which Egypt has been oppressing them. ¹⁰ Now go, I am sending you to Pharaoh. Bring forth My People, the sons of Israel, from Egypt. ¹¹ Yet Moses said to the One, Elohim: Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and that I should bring forth the sons of Israel from Egypt?

¹⁵ You will speak to him and place the words in his mouth. And I shall come to be with your mouth and with his mouth and direct both of you as to what you shall do.

¹⁰ Then Yahweh said to Moses: Go to the people, and you will hallow them today and tomorrow; let them rinse their garment.

¹⁴ So Moses descended from the mountain to the people; he hallowed the people, and they rinsed their garments. ¹⁵ Then he said to the people: Be prepared for three days; do not come close to a woman.

⁷ Hence sanctify yourselves and become holy, for I, Yahweh, am your Elohim. ⁸ You will observe My statutes and keep them:I am Yahweh Who is hallowing you.

⁸ The people went to and fro, and picked it up, ground it between millstones or crushed it in a crusher, cooked it in a kettle and made ember cakes from it. Its taste was like the taste of cakes fresh with oil.

¹⁷ I will descend and speak with you there; and I will divert some of the spirit which is on you and place it on them. They will bear the load of the people with you so that you are not bearing it by yourself alone.

¹⁸ Yahweh said to Moses:Take to you Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom there is spirit, and support your hands on him;"

³⁸ Joshua son of Nun, who is standing before you, he shall enter there. Encourage him, for he shall allot it to Israel.

⁸ At that time Yahweh separated the tribe of Levi to carry the coffer of the covenant of Yahweh, to stand before Yahweh to minister to Him and to bless in His name until this day.

¹⁴ When you come to the land that Yahweh your Elohim is giving to you, and you tenant it and dwell in it, and you say:Let me set a king over me like all the nations who are around me, ¹⁵ then you shall set, yea set over you a king whom Yahweh your Elohim shall choose. From among your brothers shall you set a king over you. You cannot put over you a foreign man who is not of your brothers.

⁵ And Joshua said unto the people, `Sanctify yourselves, for to-morrow does Yahweh do in your midst wonders..

¹³ `Rise, sanctify the people, and you have said, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow; for thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, A devoted thing [is] in your midst, O Israel, you are not able to stand before your enemies till your turning aside of the devoted thing out of your midst;"

¹⁰ and the Spirit of Yahweh is upon him, and he judges Israel, and goes out to battle, and Yahweh gives unto his hand Chushan-Rishathaim king of Aram, and strong is his hand against Chushan-Rishathaim;"

¹⁸ And he said unto Zebah and unto Zalmunna, `How--the men whom you slew in Tabor?' and they say, `As you--so they, one--as the form of the king's sons..

²³ and Elohim sends an evil spirit between Abimelech and the masters of Shechem, and the masters of Shechem deal treacherously with Abimelech,

²⁹ and the Spirit of Yahweh is on Jephthah, and he passes over Gilead and Manasseh, and passes over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he has passed over to the Bene-Ammon.

²⁵ and the Spirit of Yahweh begins to move him in the camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

⁶ and the Spirit of Yahweh prospers over him, and he rends it as the rending of a kid, and there is nothing in his hand, and he has not declared to his father and to his mother that which he has done.

²⁰ and she said, `Philistines [are] upon you, Samson;' and he awakes out of his sleep, and said, `I go out as time by time, and shake myself;' and he has not known that Yahweh has turned aside from off him.

¹⁷ The neighborhood women called a name to him, saying, A son has been born to Naomi! And they called his name Obed. ¹⁹ And Samuel grows up, and Yahweh has been with him, and has not let fall any of his words to the earth;"

² and he has a son, and his name [is] Saul, a choice youth and goodly, and there is not a man among the sons of Israel goodlier than he--from his shoulder and upward, higher than any of the people.

¹² And they answer them and say, `He is; lo, before you! haste, now, for to-day he has come in to the city, for the people has a stated sacrifice in a high place.

¹ And Samuel takes the vial of the oil, and pours on his head, and kisses him, and said, `Is it not because Yahweh has appointed you over His inheritance for leader?

⁵ `Afterwards you do come unto the hill of Elohim, where the garrison of the Philistines [is], and it comes to pass, at your coming in thither to the city, that you have met a band of prophets coming down from the high place, and before them psaltery, and tabret, and pipe, and harp, and they are prophesying;" ⁶ and prospered over you has the Spirit of Yahweh, and you have prophesied with them, and have been turned to another man;" ⁷ and it has been, when these signs come to you--do for yourself as your hand finds, for Elohim [is] with you.

⁹ And it has been, at his turning his shoulder to go from Samuel, that Elohim turns to him another heart, and all these signs come on that day, ¹⁰ and they come in thither to the height, and lo, a band of prophets--to meet him, and prosper over him does the Spirit of Elohim, and he prophesies in their midst.

²³ And they run and bring him thence, and he stationed himself in the midst of the people, and he is higher than any of the people from his shoulder and upward. ²⁴ And Samuel said unto all the people, `Have you seen him on whom Yahweh has fixed, for there is none like him among all the people?' And all the people shout, and say, `Let the king live!.

²⁷ and the sons of worthlessness have said, `What! this one does save us!' and they despise him, and have not brought to him a present; and he is as one deaf.

⁶ And the Spirit of Elohim does prosper over Saul, in his hearing these words, and his anger burns greatly,

¹³ And Samuel said unto Saul, `You have been foolish; you have not kept the command of Yahweh your Elohim, which He commanded you, for now had Yahweh established your kingdom over Israel unto the eon;" ¹⁴ and, now, your kingdom does not stand, Yahweh has sought for Himself a man according to His own heart, and Yahweh charges him for leader over His people, for you have not kept that which Yahweh commanded you..

¹¹ `I have repented that I caused Saul to reign for king, for he has turned back from after Me, and My words he has not performed;' and it is displeasing to Samuel, and he cries unto Yahweh all the night.

²³ for a sin of divination [is] rebellion, and iniquity and teraphim [is] stubbornness; because you have rejected the word of Yahweh, He also does reject you from [being] king..

²⁶ And Samuel said unto Saul, `I do not turn back with you; for you have rejected the word of Yahweh, and Yahweh does reject you from being king over Israel..

³⁵ And Samuel has not added to see Saul till the day of his death, for Samuel mourned for Saul, and Yahweh repented that He had caused Saul to reign over Israel.

⁹ And he said, `What have I sinned, that you are giving your servant into the hand of Ahab--to put me to death? <sup>10</sup> Yahweh your Elohim lives, if there is a nation and kingdom whither my lord has not sent to seek you; and they said, He is not, then he caused the kingdom and the nation to swear, that it does not find you;" <sup>11</sup> and now, you are saying, Go, say to your lord, Lo, Elijah;" <sup>12</sup> and it has been, I go from you, and the Spirit of Yahweh does lift you up, whither I know not, and I have come to declare to Ahab, and he does not find you, and he has slain me; and your servant is fearing Yahweh from my youth. <sup>13</sup> `Has it not been declared to my lord that which I have done in Jezebel's slaying the prophets of Yahweh, that I hide of the prophets of Yahweh a hundred men, fifty by fifty in a cave, and sustained them with bread and water? ¹⁴ and now you are saying, Go, say to my lord, Lo, Elijah--and he has slain me!.

¹⁵ and now, bring to me a minstrel; and it has been, at the playing of the minstrel, that the hand of Yahweh is on him,

¹ And Elisha the prophet has called to one of the sons of the prophets, and said to him, `Gird up your loins, and take this vial of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth-Gilead,

³ and taken the vial of oil, and poured on his head, and said, Thus said Yahweh, I have anointed you for king unto Israel; and you have opened the door, and fled, and do not wait..

⁶ And he rises and comes in to the house, and he pours the oil on his head, and said to him, `Thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, I have anointed you for king unto the people of Yahweh, unto Israel,

²² And it comes to pass, at Jehoram's seeing Jehu, that he said, `Is there peace, Jehu?' and he said, `What [is] the peace, while the whoredoms of Jezebel your mother, and her witchcrafts, are many?.

¹⁷ and David goes out before them, and answers and said to them, `If for peace you have come in unto me, to help me, I have a heart to unite with you; and if to betray me to mine adversaries--without violence in my hands--the Elohim of our fathers does see and reprove.. <sup>18</sup> And the Spirit has clothed Amasai, head of the captains:`To you, O David, and with you, O son of Jesse--peace! peace to you, and peace to your helper, for your Elohim has helped you;' and David receives them, and puts them among the heads of the troop.

⁷ `And now, thus do you say to My servant, to David, Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, I have taken you from the habitation, from after the sheep, to be leader over My people Israel,

¹⁸ of Judah, Elihu, of the brethren of David; of Issachar, Omri son of Michael;"

⁹ `And you, Solomon, my son, know the Elohim of your father, and serve Him with a perfect heart, and with a willing mind, for all hearts is Yahweh seeking, and every imagination of the thoughts He is understanding; if you do seek Him, He is found of you, and if you do forsake Him, He casts you off for ever.

⁹ for Yahweh--His eyes go to and fro in all the earth, to show Himself strong [for] a people whose heart [is] perfect towards Him; you have been foolish concerning this, because--henceforth there are with you wars..

¹⁷ for many [are] in the assembly who have not sanctified themselves, and the Levites [are] over the slaughtering of the passover-offerings for every one not clean, to sanctify [him] to Yahweh. ¹⁸ for a multitude of the people, many from Ephraim and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, have not been cleansed, but have eaten the passover otherwise than it is written; but Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, `Yahweh, who [is] good, does receive atonement for every on. ¹⁹ who has prepared his heart to seek Elohim--Yahweh, Elohim of his fathers--yet not according to the cleansing of the sanctuary;. ²⁰ and Yahweh hearkens unto Hezekiah, and heals the people.

⁵ And it came to be when the feast days were concluded, that Job would send and have them hallowed. He would rise early in the morning and offer up ascent offerings in number as them all. For Job said, Perhaps my sons have sinned and have scorned Elohim in their heart. Thus Job was doing for all these days.

⁴ Do You have eyes of flesh? Can You see as a mortal sees?

² The kings of the earth are standing by, And the chancellors are gathered together Against Yahweh and against His Anointed, saying,

⁶ I will pour a libation on My King, On Zion, My holy mountain.

⁹ O let the evil of the wicked reach an end, And may You establish the righteous one, Testing the hearts and innermost being, O righteous Elohim.

² Test me, O Yahweh, and try me; Do refine my innermost being and my heart." ³ For Your benignity is in front of my eyes, And I have walked in Your truth." ⁴ I have not sat with men of hypocrisy, And with dissemblers I shall not enter." ⁵ I have hated the assembly of evildoers, And with the wicked I shall not sit." ⁶ I shall wash my palms in innocency, And I will go around Your altar, O Yahweh,

¹¹ O do not fling me from Your presence, And do not take Your holy spirit from me."

⁹ Common sons of Adam are only a transitory breath, Noted sons of man a lie; If brought up on the scales, They are less than a transitory breath altogether."

⁹ It is better to take refuge in Yahweh Than to trust in patrons.

³ Do not trust in patrons, In a son of humanity with whom there is no salvation."

¹⁰ Not in the horse's mastery is He delighting; Not in the legs of a man is He placing approval; ¹¹ Yahweh is placing approval in those fearing Him, In those waiting for His benignity."

¹¹ The unseen and Abaddon lie open in front of Yahweh; How much more, therefore, the hearts of the sons of humanity!"

¹¹ And Yahweh said unto me:You do not pray for this people for good, ¹² When they fast, I hearken not unto their cry, And when they cause to ascend burnt-offering and present, I accept them not, For by sword, and by famine, And by pestilence, I am consuming them."

¹ And Yahweh said unto me:Though Moses and Samuel should stand before Me, My soul is not toward this people, Send from before My face, and they go out."

¹⁰ I Yahweh do search the heart, try the reins, Even to give to each according to his way, According to the fruit of his doings."

¹² And, O Yahweh of Hosts, trier of the righteous, Beholder of reins and heart, I do see Your vengeance out of them, For unto You I have revealed my cause."

And shall be bringing forth a Son,
And they shall be calling His name 'Emmanuel,'
which is, being construed, "God with us."

¹⁸ Now, walking beside the sea of Galilee, He perceived two brothers, Simon, termed Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a purse net into the sea, for they were fishers. ¹⁹ And He is saying to them, "Hither! After Me, and I will be making you fishers of men!" ²⁰ Now immediately leaving the nets, they follow Him. ²¹ And, advancing thence, He perceived two others, brothers, James of Zebedee and John, his brother, in the ship with Zebedee, their father, adjusting their nets. And He calls them. ²² Now, immediately leaving the ship and their father, they follow Him.

¹⁶ Lo! I am dispatching you as a sheep in the midst of wolves. Become, then, prudent as serpents and artless as doves."

⁴³ Now, whenever the unclean spirit may be coming out from a man, it is passing through waterless places seeking rest, and is not finding it." ⁴⁴ Then it is saying, 'Into my home will I be turning back, whence I came out.' And coming, it is finding it unoccupied, and swept and decorated." ⁴⁵ Then it is going and taking along with itself seven other spirits, more wicked than itself, and entering, it is dwelling there. And the last state of that man is becoming worse than the first. Thus will it be to this wicked generation also."

¹ And, answering, Jesus speaks to them again in parables, saying, ² Likened was the kingdom of the heavens to a man, a king, who makes wedding festivities for his son." ³ And he dispatches his slaves to call those invited to the wedding festivities, and they would not come." ⁴ Again he dispatches other slaves, saying, 'Say to those invited, "Lo! my luncheon have I made ready, my bulls and grain-fed animals have been sacrificed, and all is ready: Hither for the wedding festivities!"'"

²⁰ In which era Moses was born (and was handsome even to God), who was reared three months in the home of his father."

⁶ Nevertheless, rise and enter the city, and it will be spoken to you what you must be doing."

²¹ And thence they request a king, and God gives them Saul, son of Kish, a man out of the tribe of Benjamin, forty years." ²² And, deposing him, He rouses David for their king, to whom He said also, in testifying, 'I found David, of Jesse, a man according to My heart, who will be doing all My will.'"

¹⁵ Yet answering, the wicked spirit said to them, "Jesus, indeed, I know, and in Paul am I versed, yet who are you? ¹⁶ And leaping on them, the man in whom the wicked spirit was, getting the mastery of both, is too strong for them, so that, naked and wounded, they are escaping out of that house."

¹² And again Isaiah is saying, there will be "the root of Jesse, And He Who is rising to Chief of the nations: On Him will the nations rely."

⁷ Are you looking at that on the surface? If anyone is presuming to have confidence in himself to be Christ's, let him be reckoning this again with himself, that, according as he is Christ's, thus also are we. "

¹⁰ seeing that he is averring, "His epistles, indeed, are weighty and strong, yet his bodily presence is weak and his expression to be scorned."

⁹ Thou lovest righteousness and hatest injustice; Therefore Thou art anointed by God, Thy God, with the oil of exultation beyond Thy partners."

¹³ And there is not a creature which is not apparent in its sight. Now all is naked and bare to the eyes of Him to Whom we are accountable.

²³ By faith Moses, being born, was hid three months by his fathers, because they perceived that the little boy was handsome, and they were not afraid of the mandate or the king."

⁴ Whom approaching, a living Stone, having been rejected indeed by men, yet chosen by God, held in honor,

⁴ but the hidden human of the heart, in the incorruptibility of a meek and quiet spirit, which, in God's sight, is costly."

¹⁶ If anyone should be perceiving his brother sinning a sin not to death, he shall be requesting, and He will be giving him life for those sinning not to death. There is a sin to death: I am not saying that he should be asking concerning that."

²³ And her children shall I be killing with death, and all the ecclesias shall know that I an He Who is searching the kidneys and hearts. And I will be giving to each of you in accord with your acts."
