1 And Nahash the Ammonite comes up, and encamps against Jabesh-Gilead, and all the men of Jabesh say unto Nahash, `Make with us a covenant, and we serve you.. 2 And Nahash the Ammonite said unto them, `For this I covenant with you, by picking out to you every right eye--and I have put it a reproach on all Israel.. 3 And the elders of Jabesh say to him, `Let us alone seven days, and we send messengers into all the border of Israel:and if there is none saving us--then we have come out unto you.. 4 And the messengers come to Gibeah of Saul, and speak the words in the ears of the people, and all the people lift up their voice and weep;" 5 and lo, Saul has come after the herd out of the field, and Saul said, `What--to the people, that they weep?' and they recount to him the words of the men of Jabesh. 6 And the Spirit of Elohim does prosper over Saul, in his hearing these words, and his anger burns greatly, 7 and he takes a couple of oxen, and cuts them in pieces, and sends through all the border of Israel, by the hand of the messengers, saying, `He who is not coming out after Saul and after Samuel--thus it is done to his oxen;' and the fear of Yahweh falls on the people, and they come out as one man. 8 And he inspects them in Bezek, and the sons of Israel are three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand. 9 And they say to the messengers who are coming, `Thus do you say to the men of Jabesh-Gilead:To-morrow you have safety--by the heat of the sun;' and the messengers come and declare to the men of Jabesh, and they rejoice;" 10 and the men of Jabesh say [to the Ammonites], `To-morrow we come out unto you, and you have done to us according to all that [is] good in your eyes.. 11 And it comes to pass, on the morrow, that Saul puts the people in three detachments, and they come into the midst of the camp in the morning-watch, and smite Ammon till the heat of the day; and it comes to pass that those left are scattered, and there have not been left of them two together. 12 And the people say unto Samuel, `Who is he that said, Saul does reign over us! give you up the men, and we put them to death.. 13 And Saul said, `There is no man put to death on this day, for to-day has Yahweh wrought salvation in Israel.. 14 And Samuel said unto the people, `Come and we go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there;. 15 and all the people go to Gilgal, and cause Saul to reign there before Yahweh in Gilgal, and sacrifice there sacrifices of peace-offerings before Yahweh, and there Saul rejoices--and all the men of Israel--very greatly.

Genesis 21:17

17 And hearing is the Elohim the voice of the lad from the place where he is. And calling is a messenger of the Elohim to Hagar from the heavens and is saying to her, "What is the matter with you, Hagar? You must not fear, for the Elohim hears the voice of your lad from the place where he is.

Yahweh, the Judge, does judge to-day between the sons of Israel and the sons of Ammon.. 28 And the king of the Bene-Ammon has not hearkened unto the words of Jephthah which he sent unto him, 29 and the Spirit of Yahweh is on Jephthah, and he passes over Gilead and Manasseh, and passes over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he has passed over to the Bene-Ammon.

Judges 11:29

29 and the Spirit of Yahweh is on Jephthah, and he passes over Gilead and Manasseh, and passes over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he has passed over to the Bene-Ammon. 30 And Jephthah vows a vow to Yahweh, and said, `If You do at all give the Bene-Ammon into my hand-. 31 then it has been, that which at all comes out from the doors of my house to meet me in my turning back in peace from the Bene-Ammon--it has been to Yahweh, or I have offered up for it--a burnt-offering.. 32 And Jephthah passes over unto the Bene-Ammon to fight against them, and Yahweh gives them into his hand, 33 and he smites them from Aroer, and unto your going in to Minnith, twenty cities, and unto the meadow of the vineyards--a very great smiting; and the Bene-Ammon are humbled at the presence of the sons of Israel.

25 and the Spirit of Yahweh begins to move him in the camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

6 and the Spirit of Yahweh prospers over him, and he rends it as the rending of a kid, and there is nothing in his hand, and he has not declared to his father and to his mother that which he has done.

8 And they say, `Who is [that] one out of the tribes of Israel who has not come up unto Yahweh to Mizpeh?' and lo, none has come in unto the camp from Jabesh-Gilead--unto the assembly. 9 And the people numbered themselves, and lo, there is not there a man of the inhabitants of Jabesh-Gilead. 10 And the company send there twelve thousand men of the sons of valor, and command them, saying, `Go--and you have smitten the inhabitants of Jabesh-Gilead by the mouth of the sword, even the women and the infants.
