³ For sufficient is the time which has passed by to have effected the intention of the nations, having gone on in wantonness, lusts, debauches, revelries, drinking bouts, and illicit idolatries,

³⁰ Guard yourself lest you should be trapped to go after them after they are exterminated before your face, and lest you inquire about their elohim, saying:How do these nations serve their elohim that I, I too, may do thus? ³¹ You shall not act thus toward Yahweh your Elohim, for every abhorrence which Yahweh hates they perform for their elohim, for even their sons and their daughters they burn with fire for their elohim.

²⁸ And Absalom commands his young men, saying, `See, I pray you, when the heart of Amnon [is] glad with wine, and I have said unto you, Smite Amnon, that you have put him to death; fear not; is it not because I have commanded you? be strong, yea, become sons of valor..

²⁶ and he does very abominably to go after the idols, according to all that the Amorite did whom Yahweh dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel..

⁸ And at Asa's hearing these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he has strengthened himself, and does cause the abominations to pass away out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities that he has captured from the hill-country of Ephraim, and renews the altar of Yahweh that [is] before the porch of Yahweh,

²⁹ Who has woe? who has uneasiness? who has quarrels? Who has deep concerns? who has gratuitous injuries? Who has bloodshot eyes? ³⁰ They have who delay over wine, Who come to investigate a blend." ³¹ Do not stare at wine when it is red, When it casts its sparkle in the cup and goes down evenly." ³² Its aftereffect shall bite like a serpent And spread pain like a yellow viper. ³³ Your eyes shall see strange things, And your heart shall speak wayward thoughts." ³⁴ You will become like one who lies down on the heart of the sea, Or like one who lies down on the top of the rigging." ³⁵ They smite me, yet I am not at all wounded; They beat me, yet I have no knowledge of it. When shall I awake? I shall do it again; I shall seek it once more."

¹¹ Woe! Early morning risers, pursuing an intoxicant! Delaying in the gloaming, wine is making them flare up."

⁷ And, moreover, these by wine, do err, and by an intoxicant they stray. Priest and prophet err by an intoxicant. They are swallowed up because of the wine. They stray because of the intoxicant. They err in sight, quaver in mediation,

⁴ who dwell in the tombs, and among the rocks are lodging because of dreams, who are eating the flesh of swine, and the broth of vile sacrifices is in their vessels,

¹⁸ And I have recompensed a first--A second time--their iniquity and their sin, Because of their polluting My land, With the carcase of their detestable things, Yea, their abominable things have filled Mine inheritance."

⁶ and have said unto the rebellious, unto the house of Israel:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Enough to you--of all your abominations, O house of Israel."

⁹ `Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Enough to you--princes of Israel; violence and spoil turn aside, and judgment and righteousness do; lift up your exactions from off My people--an affirmation of the Lord Yahweh."

²² adulteries, greed, wickedness, guile, wantonness, a wicked eye, calumny, pride, imprudence."

³⁰ Indeed, then, condoning the times of ignorance, God is now charging mankind that all everywhere are to repent,

²⁰ For His invisible attributes are descried from the creation of the world, being apprehended by His achievements, besides His imperceptible power and divinity, for them to be defenseless, ²¹ because, knowing God, not as God do they glorify or thank Him, but vain were they made in their reasonings, and darkened is their unintelligent heart." ²² Alleging themselves to be wise, they are made stupid, ²³ and they change the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of an image of a corruptible human being and flying creatures and quadrupeds and reptiles. ²⁴ Wherefore God gives them over, in the lusts of their hearts, to the uncleanness of dishonoring their bodies among themselves, ²⁵ those who alter the truth of God into the lie, and are venerated, and offer divine service to the creature rather than the Creator, Who is blessed for the eons! Amen!" ²⁶ Therefore God gives them over to dishonorable passions. For their females, besides, alter the natural use into that which is beside nature." ²⁷ Likewise also the males, besides, leaving the natural use of the female, were inflamed in their craving for one another, males with males effecting indecency, and getting back in themselves the retribution of their deception which must be." ²⁸ And according as they do not test God, to have Him in recognition, God gives them over to a disqualified mind, to do that which is not befitting, ²⁹ filled with all injustice, wickedness, evil, greed, distended with envy, murder, strife, guile, depravity, whisperers, ³⁰ vilifiers, detesters of God, outragers, proud, ostentatious, inventors of evil things, stubborn to parents, ³¹ unintelligent, perfidious, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:" ³² those who, recognizing the just statute of God, that those committing such things are deserving of death, not only are doing them, but are endorsing, also, those who are committing them."

¹² Consequently, then, brethren, debtors are we, not to the flesh, to be living in accord with flesh, ¹³ for if you are living in accord with flesh, you are about to be dying. Yet if, in spirit, you are putting the practices of the body to death, you will be living."

¹³ As in the day, respectably, should we be walking, not in revelries and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy,

¹¹ And some of you were these, but you are bathed off, but you are hallowed, but you were justified in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and by the spirit of our God."

² You are aware that when you were of the nations, you were led away to the voiceless idols, as ever you were led."

²¹ Not again at my coming will my God be humbling me toward you, and I shall be mourning for many who have sinned before and are not repenting of the uncleanness and prostitution and wantonness which they commit."

¹⁹ Now apparent are the works of the flesh, which are adultery, prostitution, uncleanness, wantonness,

²¹ envies, murders, drunkennesses, revelries, and the like of these, which, I am predicting to you, according as I predicted also, that those committing such things shall not be enjoying the allotment of the kingdom of God."

² in which once you walked, in accord with the eon of this world, in accord with the chief of the jurisdiction of the air, the spirit now operating in the sons of stubbornness " ³ (among whom we also all behaved ourselves once in the lusts of our flesh, doing the will of the flesh and of the comprehension, and were, in our nature, children of indignation, even as the rest),

¹⁷ This, then, I am saying and attesting in the Lord: By no means are you still to be walking according as those of the nations also are walking, in the vanity of their mind, ¹⁸ their comprehension being darkened, being estranged from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the callousness of their hearts, ¹⁹ who, being past feeling, in greed give themselves up with wantonness to all uncleanness as a vocation."

¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, in which is profligacy, but be filled full with spirit,

⁵ not in lustful passion even as the nations also who are not acquainted with God.

³ For we also were once foolish, stubborn, deceived, slaves of various desires and gratifications, leading a life in malice and envy, detestable, hating one another."

¹⁴ As obedient children, not configuring to the former desires, in your ignorance,

⁴ For some men slip in who long ago have been written beforehand for this judgment; irreverent, bartering the grace of our God for wantonness, and disowning our only Owner and Lord, Jesus Christ."

⁴ And the woman was clothed with purple and scarlet, and gilded with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand, brimming with abominations and the uncleannesses of the prostitution of her and the earth." ⁵ And on her forehead is written a name: Secret Babylon the Great the mother of the prostitutes and the abominations of the earth.
