⁵ If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill.

² And Hanani, one of my brothers, came, he and some men of Judah; and I asked them concerning those that had escaped, who had been left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. ³ And they said to me, The remnant, even those that are left of the captivity, are there in the land, in great distress and reproach; and the walls of Jerusalem are thrown down, and its gates are burned with fire. ⁴ And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for several days, and continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.

² And the king said to me, Why is your countenance sad, and you do not control yourself? And now this is nothing but sorrow of heart. Then I was very much alarmed, ³ and I said to the king, Let the king live forever. Why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, even the home of the tombs of my fathers, has been laid waste, and her gates have been devoured with fire?

¹ For the end, A Psalm for the sons of Korah, concerning the winepresses. How lovely is Your tabernacle, O Lord of hosts! ² My soul longs and faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh have exalted in the living God.

¹⁰ For one day in Your courts is better than thousands. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God, than dwell in the tents of sinners.

¹³ You shall arise, and have mercy upon Zion; for it is time to have mercy upon her, for the appointed time has come. ¹⁴ For Your servants have taken pleasure in her stones, and they shall pity her dust.

⁵ For there are set thrones for judgment, even thrones for the house of David. ⁶ Pray now for the peace of Jerusalem: and let there be prosperity to them that love you. ⁷ Let peace, I pray, be within your host, and prosperity in your palaces. ⁸ For the sake of my brethren and my neighbors, I have indeed spoken peace concerning you. ⁹ Because of the house of the Lord our God, I have diligently sought your good.

¹ For Zion's sake I will not hold My peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until her righteousness go forth as light, and My salvation burn as a torch.

⁶ And on your walls, O Jerusalem, have I set watchmen all day and all night, who shall never cease making mention of the Lord. ⁷ For there is none like You, when He shall have established, and made Jerusalem a praise on the earth.

⁵⁰ Go forth of the land, you that escape, and stay not; you that are afar off, remember the Lord, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.

¹⁰ And when Daniel knew that the decree was ordered, he went into his house. And his windows were opened in his chambers toward Jerusalem, and three times in the day he knelt upon his knees, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he used to do before. ¹¹ Then these men watched, and found Daniel praying and making supplication to his God.

¹⁷ Alas for the vain shepherds that have forsaken the sheep! The sword shall be upon the arms of such a one, and upon his right eye; his arm shall be completely withered, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.
