⁷ I was peaceable among them that hated peace; when I spoke to them, they warred against me without a cause.

^{9 (24:10)} And David said to Saul, Why do you listen to the words of the people, saying, Behold, David seeks you life? ^{10 (24:11)} Behold, your eyes have seen this day how that the Lord has delivered you into my hands in the cave. And I would not kill you, but I spared you, and said, I will not lift up my hand against my master, for he is the Lord's anointed. ^{11 (24:12)} And behold, the skirt of your mantle is in my hand, I cut off the skirt, and did not kill you. Know then and see this day, there is no evil in my hand, nor impiety, nor rebellion; and I have not sinned against you, yet you lay snares for my life, to take it.

² And Saul arose, and went down to the Wilderness of Ziph, and with him went three thousand men chosen out of Israel, to seek David in the Wilderness of Ziph. ³ And Saul encamped in the hill of Hachilah in front of Jeshimon, by the way, and David dwelt in the wilderness. And David saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness. ⁴ And David sent spies, and ascertained that Saul had come prepared out of Keila.

¹⁹ I am a peaceable one of the strong ones in Israel; but you seek to destroy a city and a mother city in Israel: why do you seek to ruin the inheritance of the Lord?

¹⁴ Turn away from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

²⁰ For to me they spoke peaceably, but imagined deceits in their anger.

²⁰ He has reached forth his hand for retribution; they have profaned His covenant.

⁴ Instead of loving me, they falsely accused me; but I continued to pray.

¹⁴ For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and who destroyed the dividing wall of separation, ¹⁵ having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, ¹⁶ and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, putting to death the enmity in Himself. ¹⁷ And having come, He preached peace to you who were far away and to those near.
