⁵² He has overthrown the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the lowly.

⁴ The bow of the mighty has grown feeble, and the weak have girded themselves with strength.

⁶ The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave, and brings up. ⁷ The Lord makes poor, and makes rich; He brings low, and lifts up. ⁸ He lifts up the poor from the earth, and raises the needy from the dunghill; to seat him with the princes of the people, and causing them to inherit the throne of glory;

¹¹ who exalts the lowly, and raises up them that are lost: ¹² frustrating the counsels of the crafty, and their hands shall not perform the truth: ¹³ who takes the wise in their wisdom, and subverts the counsel of the crafty.

²⁴ For the Lord looks down upon all men, who comprehends unsearchable things, glorious also and excellent things without number. ²⁵ Who discovers their works, and will bring night about upon them, and they shall be brought low. ²⁶ And He destroys the ungodly, for they are seen before Him. ²⁷ Because they turned aside from the law of God, and did not regard His ordinances, ²⁸ so as to bring before Him the cry of the needy; for He will hear the cry of the poor.

⁴⁰ Contempt is poured upon their princes, and He causes them to wander in a desert, and in a trackless land. ⁴¹ But He helps the poor out of poverty, and makes him families as a flock.

⁶ and yet looks upon the low things in heaven, and on the earth; ⁷ who lifts up the poor from the earth, and raises up the needy from the dunghill; ⁸ to set him with princes, even with the princes of His people;

¹⁴ For he shall come forth out of the house of the prisoners to reign, because he also that was in his kingdom has become poor.

²⁴ And all the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord that bring low the high tree, and exalt the low tree, and wither the green tree, and cause the dry tree to flourish. I the Lord have spoken, and will do it.

¹¹ In that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and will rebuild the ruins of it, and will set up the parts thereof that have been broken down, and will build it up as in the ancient days:

³ Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?" And they were offended at Him.

¹⁴ I say to you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted."

⁹ Let the lowly brother rejoice in his exaltation, ¹⁰ but the rich man in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away.

¹⁰ Be humbled before the Lord, and He will exalt you.
