⁸ They are sons of fools and vile men, whose name and glory are quenched from off the earth.

⁴ In his sight an evil worker is set at nought, but he honors them that fear the Lord. He swears to his neighbor, and disappoints him not.

¹⁰ When he shall see wise men dying, the fool and the senseless one shall perish together; and they shall leave their wealth to strangers. ¹¹ And their tombs are their houses forever, even their tabernacles to all generations; they have called their lands after their own names. ¹² And man being in honor, understands not; he is compared to the senseless cattle, and is likened unto them. ¹³ This their way is an offense to them; yet afterwards men will commend their sayings. Pause.

⁷ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and there is good understanding to all that practice it: and godliness toward God is the beginning of discernment; but the ungodly will nullify wisdom and instruction.

²² So long as the simple cleave to justice, they shall not be ashamed: but the foolish being lovers of haughtiness, having become ungodly have hated knowledge, and have become subject to reproofs.

²² Understanding is a fountain of life to its possessors, but the instruction of fools is evil.

⁶ For the fool shall speak foolish words, and his heart shall meditate vanities, and to perform lawless deeds and to speak error against the Lord, to scatter hungry souls, and He will cause the thirsty souls to be empty.

¹⁸ Their children gather wood, and their fathers kindle a fire, and their women knead dough, to make cakes to the host of heaven; and they have poured out drink offerings to strange gods, that they might provoke Me to anger.

²⁴ And when she had gone out, she said to her mother, "What shall I ask?" And she said, "The head of John the Baptist!"
