³¹ My harp also has been turned into mourning, and my song into my weeping.

¹ For David, A Psalm of Jeremiah. By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat; and wept when we remembered Zion. ² We hung our harps on the willows in the midst of it. ³ For there they that had taken us captive asked of us the words of a song; and they that had carried us away asked a hymn, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. ⁴ How should we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?

⁴ a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to lament, and a time to dance;

⁴ My heart wanders, and transgression overwhelms me; my soul is occupied with fear.

¹² And the Lord, the Lord of hosts, called in that day for weeping, and lamentation, and baldness, and for girding with sackcloth;

⁷ The wine shall mourn, the vine shall mourn, all the merry-hearted shall sigh. ⁸ The mirth of timbrels has ceased, the sound of the harp has ceased. ⁹ They are ashamed, they have not drunk wine; strong drink has become bitter to them that drink it.

¹⁵ The joy of our heart has ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.
