¹² And they aroused the people and the elders and the scribes; and coming upon him, they seized him, and led him to the council.

¹⁸ A passionate man stirs up strife; but he that is slow to anger appeases even a rising one. ^(15:18A) A man slow to anger will extinguish quarrels, but an ungodly man rather stirs them up.

²² But I say to you that whoever gets angry with his brother without cause will be liable to the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Empty-head!' will be liable to the council. But whoever says, ' fool!' will be liable to the fiery hell.

⁵⁷ And those having seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.

¹ Now while they were speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, ² being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. ³ And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.

¹⁸ and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the public custody.

²⁷ And they brought them, and set them before the council. And the high priest asked them,

⁵⁰ But the Jews incited the devout and prominent women and the leading men of the city, and raised up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and cast them out from their borders.

² But the disbelieving Jews aroused and embittered the souls of the Gentiles against the brothers.

¹⁹ And when her masters saw that the hope of their profit was gone, they took Paul and Silas, and dragged them to the marketplace to the rulers. ²⁰ And bringing them to the magistrates they said, "These men, being Jews, are agitating our city; ²¹ and they are proclaiming customs which are not lawful for us to receive or to do, since we are Romans."

⁵ And the Jews who did not believe took some wicked men from the marketplace, and forming a mob, they threw the city into disorder, and came upon the house of Jason, and sought to bring them to the people. ⁶ But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brothers to the rulers of the city, crying out, "The men who have upset the whole world, these have come here, too;

¹³ But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was proclaimed by Paul in Berea, they came there also, agitating the crowds.

¹² Now while Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one purpose rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat,
