Acts 6:1 Cross References - CAB

¹ Now in those days, as the disciples were increasing in number, there arose a complaint from the Greek speaking Jews against the Aramaic speaking Jews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution.

¹⁹ And when you have reaped the grain in your field, and have forgotten a sheaf in your field, you shall not return to take it; it shall be for the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands. ²⁰ And if you should gather your olives, you shall not return to collect the remainder; it shall be for the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, and you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this thing. ²¹ And whenever you shall gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean what you have left; it shall be for the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow;

¹² And when you have completed all the tithing of your fruits in the third year, you shall give the second tenth to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow; and they shall eat it in your cities, and be merry.

¹³ Let the blessing of the perishing one come upon me; yea, the mouth of the widow has blessed me.

¹⁶ But the helpless missed not whatever need they had, and I did not cause the eye of the widow to fail.

¹⁶ There shall be an establishment on the earth on the tops of the mountains; its fruit shall be exalted above Lebanon, and those of the city shall flourish as grass of the earth.

³ With You is dominion in the day of Your power, in the splendors of Your saints; I have begotten You from the womb before the morning.

¹⁷ learn to do well; diligently seek judgment, deliver him that is suffering wrong, plead for the orphan, and obtain justice for the widow.

⁶ they that are coming are the children of Jacob. Israel shall bud and blossom, and the world shall be filled with his fruit.

¹⁹ And there shall go forth from them singers, even the sound of men making merry, and I will multiply them, and they shall by no means be diminished.

⁷ In you they have reviled father and mother; and in you they have behaved unjustly toward the stranger; they have oppressed the orphan and widow.

⁵ And I will draw near to you in judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the witches, and against the adulteresses, and against them that swear falsely by My name, and against them that keep back the hireling's wages, and them that oppress the widow, and afflict orphans, and that wrest the judgment of the stranger, and do not fear Me, says the Lord Almighty.

¹³ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

⁴¹ Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added.

⁴⁵ and they were selling their possessions and goods, and were dividing them among all, to the degree that anyone had a need.

⁴⁷ praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to the church daily those who were being saved.

⁴ However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

³⁵ and were placing them beside the feet of the apostles; and they were distributing to each, to the degree that anyone had need.

¹⁴ And more than ever, believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,

²⁸ saying, "Did we not give you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you want to bring on us the blood of this Man!"

⁷ And the word of God was growing, and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem was being multiplied exceedingly, and a great many of the priests were obeying the faith.

²⁹ and speaking boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and he was speaking and disputing with the Greek-speaking Jews, but they were attempting to kill him.

³⁹ And arising, Peter went with them. When he arrived, they took him into the upper room, and all the widows stood beside him weeping, showing him tunics and cloaks which Dorcas was making, while being with them.

⁴¹ And giving to her his hand, he raised her up; and when he called the saints and the widows, he presented her living.

²⁰ But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, entering into Antioch spoke to the Greek speaking Jews, preaching the good news of the Lord Jesus.

¹⁰ nor murmer, just as also some of them murmered, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

²² Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I.

⁵ circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; with respect to the law, a Pharisee;

⁴ But if a certain widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety to their own household and to make repayment to their parents; for this is acceptable before God. ⁵ Now she who is really a widow and having been left alone, has set her hope on God, and continues in supplications and prayers night and day.

⁹ Let a widow be enrolled having become not less than sixty years, the wife of one man,

¹ Let brotherly love remain.

²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

⁵ Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"?

⁹ Do not murmur against one another, brothers, lest you be judged. Behold, the Judge stands before the doors!
