¹ And it came to pass after this, that David attacked the Philistines, and put them to flight, and David took the tribute from out of the hand of the Philistines.

²⁴ And Joab and Abishai pursued after Abner, and the sun went down. And they went as far as the hill of Ammah, which is in the front of Giah, by the desert way of Gibeon.

⁹ And I was with you wherever you went, and I destroyed all your enemies before you, and I made you renowned according to the renown of the great ones on the earth.

Then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph of the sons of Rapha. ¹⁹ And there was a battle in Gob with the Philistines; and Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite; and the staff of his spear was as a weaver's beam. ²⁰ And there was yet a battle in Gath. And there was a man of stature, and the fingers of his hands and the toes of his feet were six on each, twenty-four in number: and he also was born to Rapha. ²¹ And he defied Israel, and Jonathan son of Shimei brother of David, killed him. ²² These four were born descendants of the giants in Gath, the family of Rapha; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

And the Lord delivered David wherever he went. ⁷ And David took the golden shields that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. ⁸ And David took very much bronze out of Tibhath and out of the chief cities of Chun; of this Solomon made the bronze sea, and the pillars, and the bronze vessels. ⁹ And Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole force of Hadadezer king of Zobah. ¹⁰ And he sent Hadoram his son to King David to ask how he was, and to congratulate him because he had fought against Hadadezer, and had defeated him; for Tou was the enemy of Hadadezer. ¹¹ And all the golden and silver and bronze vessels, even these King David consecrated to the Lord, with the silver and the gold which he took from all the nations; from Edom, Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek. ¹² And Abishai son of Zeruiah killed eighteen thousand of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt. ¹³ And he put garrisons in the valley; and all the Edomites became David's servants, and the Lord delivered David wherever he went. ¹⁴ So David reigned over all Israel, and he executed judgment and justice to all his people. ¹⁵ And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder. ¹⁶ And Zadok son of Ahitub, and Abimelech son of Abiathar were the priests; and Shavsha was the scribe; ¹⁷ and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and the sons of David were the chief deputies of the king.
