¹ And the days of David drew near that he should die. And he addressed his son Solomon, saying, I go the way of all the earth;

²⁹ And the days of Israel drew near for him to die. And he called his son Joseph, and said to him, If I have found favor before you, put your hand under my thigh, and you shall execute mercy and truth toward me, so as not to bury me in Egypt.

¹⁹ And you shall set him before Eleazar the priest, and you shall give him a charge before all the congregation, and you shall give a charge concerning him before them.

²⁸ And command Joshua, and strengthen him, and encourage him; for he shall go before the face of this people, and he shall give them the inheritance of all the land which you have seen.

¹⁴ And the Lord said to Moses, Behold, the days of your death are at hand; call Joshua, and stand by the doors of the tabernacle of testimony, and I will give him a command. And Moses and Joshua went to the tabernacle of testimony, and stood by the doors of the tabernacle of testimony.

²³ And he charged Joshua, and said, Be courageous and strong, for you shall bring the sons of Israel into the land, which the Lord swore to them, and He shall be with you.

¹ And this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.

²⁸ Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit placed you as overseers, to shepherd the church of the Lord, and of God, which He purchased with His own blood. ²⁹ For I know this, that savage wolves will come in after my departure, not sparing the flock. ³⁰ Also from among you yourselves will arise men speaking things having been distorted, in order to draw away the disciples after them. ³¹ Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years, night and day I did not cease, with tears, exhorting each one.

¹⁸ This charge I commit to you, my son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that you may war by them the good warfare,

¹³ I charge you before God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate,

¹ I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is going to judge the living and the dead in accordance with His appearing and His kingdom:

⁶ For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has arrived.

¹³ But I consider it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by a reminder, ¹⁴ knowing that the putting off of my tent is soon, just as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. ¹⁵ And I will make an effort also, whenever necessary, to cause you to have a reminder of these things after my departure.
