² Never may it be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

¹ What then is the superiority of the Jew? Or what is the benefit of the circumcision? ² Much in every way. For chiefly indeed, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God. ³ What if indeed some disbelieved? Will their unbelief nullify the faithfulness of God? ⁴ Never may it be! But let God be true, and every man a liar, as it has been written: “That You may be justified in Your words, and will prevail in Your being judged.”

¹¹ And not only so, but also we are rejoicing in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

⁵ For if we have become united in the likeness of His death, certainly also we will be of the resurrection, ⁶ knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, so that the body of sin might be annulled, that we are no longer enslaved to sin. ⁷ For the one having died has been freed from sin. ⁸ Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him, ⁹ knowing that Christ, having been raised up out from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer rules over Him. ¹⁰ For that which He died, He died to sin once for all; but that which He lives, He lives to God. ¹¹ So also you, consider yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but living to God in Christ Jesus.

⁴ Likewise, my brothers, you also have been put to death to the Law through the body of Christ, for you to belong to another, to the One having been raised out from the dead, so that we should bear fruit to God.

⁶ But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that which we were bound, in order for us to serve in newness of the Spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ compels us, having concluded this, that One has died for all, therefore all have died. ¹⁵ And He died for all that those living no longer should live to themselves, but to the One having died for them and having been raised again. ¹⁶ Therefore from now, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have regarded Christ according to flesh, yet now we regard Him thus no longer. ¹⁷ Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away; behold, the new has come into being.

¹⁹ For through the Law I died to the Law that I might live to God.

¹⁴ But for me, may it be never to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world.

²⁰ If you have died with Christ, away from the principles of the world, why as if living in the world do you submit to decrees:

³ For you have died, and your life has been hidden with Christ in God.

¹⁴ as children of obedience, not being conformed to the passions in your former ignorance.

²⁴ Who Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that, having been dead to sins, we might live to righteousness. “By whose scourge marks you have been healed.”

¹ Therefore Christ having suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same mind, because the one having suffered in the flesh is done with sin, ² so as to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer to men’s desires, but to the will of God. ³ For the time past is sufficient to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having walked in sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and abominable idolatries.

⁹ Anyone having been born of God does not practice sin, because His seed abides in him, and he is not able to continue sinning, because he has been born of God.
