³⁵ For I hungered, and you gave Me to eat; I thirsted, and you gave Me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took Me in;

³⁵ and were laying them at the feet of the apostles, and distribution was made to each as anyone had need.

³⁶ Now in Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which translated is called Dorcas. She was full of good works and of alms that she continually did. ³⁷ But in those days it came to pass that, having become sick, she died. And having washed her, they put her in an upper room. ³⁸ Now Lydda being near Joppa, the disciples having heard that Peter is in it, sent two men to him, imploring, “Do not to delay coming to us.” ³⁹ And Peter having risen up, went with them, who having arrived, brought him into the upper room. And all the widows stood by him, weeping and showing the tunics and garments that Dorcas had made, being with them. ⁴⁰ And Peter having put all outside and having bowed the knees, prayed. And having turned to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise!” And she opened her eyes, and having seen Peter, she sat up. ⁴¹ And having given her his hand, he raised her up. And having called the saints and the widows, he presented her living.

⁴ And having looked intently on him, and having become afraid, he said, “What is it, Lord?” And he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God.

³⁴ You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my needs and to those being with me. ³⁵ In everything I showed you that by thus straining, it behooves us to aid those being weak, and also to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said, ‘It is more Blessed to give than to receive.’”

⁸ or exhorting, in the exhortation; giving, in generosity; leading, in diligence; showing mercy, in cheerfulness.

²⁵ But now I am going to Jerusalem, ministering to the saints. ²⁶ For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem. ²⁷ For they were pleased, and they are debtors of them. For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual things, they ought also to minister to them in the material things. ²⁸ Therefore having finished this, and having sealed this fruit to them, I will set off through you into Spain.

¹ Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have directed the churches of Galatia, so also you are to do. ² Every first of the week, let each of you put something aside, treasuring up whatever he may be prospered in, so that when I might come, then there should be no collections.

¹⁵ Now I exhort you, brothers—you know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruit of Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to service to the saints—

¹ Now we make known to you, brothers, the grace of God having been bestowed among the churches of Macedonia, ² that in much proof of tribulation, the abundance of their joy and of their deep poverty abounded into the riches of their generosity. ³ For I testify that according to their ability and beyond their ability, they were willing of themselves, ⁴ imploring of us with much entreaty for the grace and the fellowship of the service among the saints.

¹ For it is superfluous for me to write to you now concerning the service for the saints.

¹² For the ministry of this service is not only completely filling up the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God,

¹⁰ So then, as we have occasion, we should work good toward all, and especially toward those of the household of the faith.

² Therefore it behooves the overseer to be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

¹⁰ being borne witness to in good works: if she has brought up children, if she has entertained strangers, if she has washed the feet of the saints, if she has imparted relief to those being oppressed, if she has followed after every good work.

⁸ but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined;

⁷ For I have great joy and encouragement by occasion of your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you, brother.

¹⁰ For God is not unjust to forget your work and the love that you have shown toward His name, having ministered to the saints, and still ministering.

² Do not be forgetful of hospitality, for through this, some have entertained angels unawares.

¹⁶ And do not be forgetful of the good, and of the sharing; for God is well pleased with such sacrifices.

⁹ hospitable to one another without complaint,

¹⁷ Now whoever might have the world’s goods, and might see his brother having need, and might close up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
