¹³ You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt becomes tasteless, with what will it be salted. For nothing is it potent any longer except, having been cast out, to be trampled upon by men.

⁴⁹ For everyone will be salted with fire. ⁵⁰ The salt is good, but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

³⁴ Therefore salt is good, but if even the salt becomes tasteless, with what will it be seasoned? ³⁵ It is fit neither for soil nor for manure; they cast it out. The one having ears to hear, let him hear.”

⁶ Let your speech be always in grace, having been seasoned with salt, to know how it behooves you to answer each one.

⁴ For it is impossible for those once having been enlightened, and having tasted of the heavenly gift, and having become partakers of the Holy Spirit, ⁵ and having tasted the goodness of God’s word and the power of the coming age— ⁶ and then having fallen away—to restore them again to repentance, crucifying in themselves the Son of God and subjecting Him to open shame.

²⁰ For if, having escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, now again having been entangled in these they are subdued, the last state has become worse to them than the first. ²¹ For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to have turned from the holy commandment having been delivered to them.
