¹² And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of the heavens is taken by violence and the violent seize it.

²³ And of Him having come into the temple, teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him, saying, “By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave to You this authority?” ²⁴ And Jesus answering, said to them, “I also will ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I also will say to you by what authority I do these things. ²⁵ From where was the baptism of John? From heaven, or from men?” And they were reasoning with themselves, saying, “If we should say, ‘from heaven,’ He will say to us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ ²⁶ But if we should say, ‘from men,’ we fear the multitude; for all hold John as a prophet.” ²⁷ And answering Jesus, they said “We do not know.” And He said to them, “Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things. ²⁸ But what do you think? A man had two sons, and having come to the first he said, ‘Son, go work in the vineyard today.’ ²⁹ And answering he said, ‘I will not.’ But afterward, having repented, he went. ³⁰ And having come to the second, he said likewise. And answering he said, ‘I will sir,’ and he did not go. ³¹ Which of the two did the will of the father?” They say, “The first.” Jesus says to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes go before you into the kingdom of God. ³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him; and you having seen, did not even repent afterward to believe him.

²⁹ And all the people having heard, even the tax collectors, declared God righteous, having been baptized with the baptism of John. ³⁰ But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God as to themselves, not having been baptized by him.

²⁴ “Strive to enter in through the narrow door; for many, I say to you, will seek to enter in, and will not be able.

¹⁶ The Law and the prophets were until John. From that time the kingdom of God is proclaimed, and everyone forces his way into it.

²⁷ Do not work for the food that is perishing, but for the food enduring unto eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you; for God the Father has sealed Him.”

¹¹ Put on the complete armor of God, for you to be able to stand against the schemes of the devil, ¹² because to us the wrestling is not against blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. ¹³ Because of this, take up the complete armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all things, to stand.

¹² Therefore my beloved, just as always you have obeyed, not only as in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
