1 And it came to pass when Jesus had finished commanding His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.
2 And John, having heard in prison the works of the Christ, having sent two of his disciples,
3 said to Him, “Are You the coming One, or are we to look for another?”
4 And Jesus answering, said to them, “Having gone, relate to John what you hear and see:
5 The blind receive sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised, and the poor are gospelized.
6 And blessed is he who shall not fall away in Me.”
7 And as these were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
8 But what did you go out to see? A man having been dressed in delicate clothing? Behold, those wearing delicate clothing are in kings’ houses.
9 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and one more excellent than a prophet.
10 For this is he about whom it has been written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will prepare Your way before You.’
11 Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the least in the kingdom of the heavens is greater than he!
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of the heavens is taken by violence and the violent seize it.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah, the one being about to come.
15 The one having ears, let him hear!
16 But to what will I compare this generation? It is like little children sitting in the markets and calling out to others,
17 saying: ‘We piped for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge and you did not wail.’
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’
19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold a man, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and of sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her deeds.”
20 Then He began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles had taken place, because they did not repent.
21 “Woe to you Chorazin! Woe to you Bethsaida! For if the miracles having taken place in you had taken place in Tyre and Sidon, then they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I say to you, in the day of judgment it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon than for you.
23 And you, Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, but will be brought down to Hades! For if the miracles having taken place in you had taken place in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
24 But I say to you that in day of judgment it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom than for you.”
25 At that time, Jesus answering said, “I fully consent to You, Father, Lord of the heaven and the earth, that You did hide these things from the wise and learned, and did reveal them to little children.
26 Yes, Father, for this was well-pleasing before You.
27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father. And no one knows the Son, except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and to whom the Son might choose to reveal Him.
28 Come to Me, all those toiling and being burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

29 And answering he said, ‘I will not.’ But afterward, having repented, he went.
30 And having come to the second, he said likewise. And answering he said, ‘I will sir,’ and he did not go.

13 And having left Nazareth, having come, he dwelt at Capernaum, on the sea-side in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,

5 And He having entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, imploring Him,

Matthew 17:24
24 And they having come to Capernaum, those collecting the didrachmas came to Peter and said, “Does your Teacher pay the didrachmas?”

23 And He said to them, “Surely you will say to Me this proverb, ‘Physician heal yourself! Whatsoever we have heard has been done in Capernaum, do here in Your hometown also.’”

11 For everyone exalting himself will be humbled, and the one humbling himself will be exalted.”
Luke 16:23
23 And in Hades, having lifted up his eyes, being in torment, he sees Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom.
John 4:46-54
46 Therefore He came again to Cana of Galilee, where He had made the water wine. And there was in Capernaum a certain royal official whose son was sick.
47 Having heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and was asking that He would come down and heal his son; for he was about to die.
48 Therefore Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe.”
49 The royal official says to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
50 Jesus says to him, “Go, your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus said to him, and he went on his way.
51 And already as he is going down, his servants met him, saying that his son lives.
52 Therefore he inquired from them the hour in which he got better. Therefore they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.”
53 Therefore the father knew that it was in that hour at which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household.
54 This is now again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
Acts 2:27
27 for You will not abandon my soul into Hades, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see decay.
2 Peter 2:4-9
4 For if God did not spare the angels having sinned, but having cast them down to Tartarus, in chains of gloomy darkness, delivered them, being kept for judgment;
5 and He did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, one of eight, having brought the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 and He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction, having reduced them to ashes, having set an example of what is coming on the ungodly;
7 and He rescued righteous Lot, being distressed by the conduct in sensuality of the lawless
8 (for that righteous man dwelling, among them, day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul, through seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)—
9 then the Lord knows to deliver the devout out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous being punished unto the day of judgment,
Jude 1:7
7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, having indulged in sexual immorality and having gone after strange flesh, in like manner with them are set forth as an example, undergoing the penalty of eternal fire.
Revelation 11:8
8 And their body will be upon the street of the great city, which is called spiritually Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.
Mark 6:11
11 And if any place will not receive you nor hear you, departing from there, shake off the dust which is under your feet, for a testimony against them.”
Luke 10:12
12 I say to you that it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city.
Matthew 13:11-16
11 And answering He said to them, “Because it has been granted to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of the heavens, but to them it has not been granted.
12 For whoever has, to him will be given, and he will be in abundance. And whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
13 Because of this I speak to them in parables: ‘Because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.’
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, saying: ‘In hearing you will hear and never understand; and in seeing you will see and never perceive.
15 For the heart of this people has grown dull, and they barely hear with the ears, and they have closed their eyes, lest ever they should see with the eyes, and they should hear with the ears, and they should understand with the heart, and should turn, and I will heal them.’
16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.
Matthew 16:17
17 And Jesus answering, said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona! For flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father in the heavens.
Matthew 18:3-4
Matthew 21:16
16 and said to Him, “Do you hear what these say?” And Jesus says to them, “Yes, have you never read: ‘Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings You have prepared for yourself praise’?”
Mark 4:10-12
10 And when He was alone, those around Him with the Twelve began asking Him about the parable.
11 And He was saying to them, “To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but to those who are outside, everything is done in parables,
12 so that, ‘Seeing, they might see and not perceive; and hearing, they might hear and not understand; lest ever they should turn, and they should be forgiven.’”
Mark 10:14-16
14 And having seen, Jesus was indignant and said to them, “Permit the little children to come to Me; do not hinder them! For to such belongs the kingdom of God.
15 Truly I say to you, whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a child shall never enter into it.”
16 And having taken them in arms, He was blessing them, having laid the hands on them.
Luke 10:21-24
21 In the same hour, He rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I fully consent to You, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for thus was it well-pleasing before You.
22 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father. And no one knows who the Son is, except the Father; and who the Father is, except the Son, and those to whom the Son might resolve to reveal Him.”
23 And having turned to the disciples, He said in private, “Blessed are the eyes seeing what you see!
24 For I say to you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear.”
Luke 22:42
42 saying, “Father, if You are willing, take away this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
John 7:48-49
John 9:39-41
39 And Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those not seeing may see, and those seeing may become blind.”
40 Some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these things, and they said to Him, “Are we also blind?”
41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin. But since you say, ‘We see,’ your sin remains.”
John 11:41
41 So they took away the stone. Now Jesus lifted His eyes upwards and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
John 12:38-40
38 so that word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, that said: “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
39 Because of this, they were not able to believe, for again Isaiah said:
40 “He has blinded their eyes, and has hardened their heart, that they should not see with the eyes, and understand with the heart, and turn, and I will heal them.”
Acts 17:24
24 The God having made the world and all things that are in it, He being Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in hand-made temples,
Romans 11:8-10
8 as it has been written: “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes not to see, and ears not to hear, unto this very day.”
9 And David says: “Let their table be for a snare and for a trap, and for a stumbling block and for a retribution to them.
10 Let their eyes be darkened not to see, and their backs bent over forever.”
1 Corinthians 1:18-29
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those indeed perishing, but to us being saved it is the power of God.
19 For it has been written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; and the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”
20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
21 For since in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of the proclamation to save those believing.
22 Forasmuch as both Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek wisdom,
23 we, however, preach Christ having been crucified, a stumbling block indeed to the Jewish and foolishness to Gentiles,
1 Corinthians 2:6-8
6 But we speak wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to naught.
7 But we speak in a mystery, the wisdom of God having been hidden, which God foreordained before the ages for our glory,
8 which none of the rulers of this age has understood. For if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
1 Corinthians 3:18-20
18 Let no one deceive himself: If anyone among you thinks himself to be wise in this age, let him become foolish, so that he may become wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it has been written: “He is the One catching the wise in their craftiness.”
20 and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”
2 Corinthians 3:14
14 But their minds were hardened; for until the present day, the same veil remains at the reading of the old covenant, not being lifted, which is being removed in Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:3-6
3 But if indeed our gospel is concealed, it is concealed to those who are perishing,
4 in whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, so as for not to beam forth the illumination of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
5 For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord; and ourselves as your servants for the sake of Jesus.
6 For it is God, having said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” who shone in our hearts for the radiance of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 2:13-14
13 But we ought to give thanks to God always concerning you, brothers beloved by the Lord, that God has chosen you from the beginning unto salvation in the sanctification of the Spirit, and by faith of the truth;
14 to this also He called you through our gospel to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 10:21
21 In the same hour, He rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I fully consent to You, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for thus was it well-pleasing before You.
Romans 9:18
18 So then, He shows mercy to whom He wants, and He hardens whom He wants.
Romans 11:33-36
33 O, the depth of riches, both of wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments, and untraceable His ways!
34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor?”
35 “Or who has first given to Him, and it will be recompensed to him?”
36 For from Him and through Him and unto Him are all things. To Him be the glory to the ages! Amen.

9 having made known to us the mystery of His will according to His pleasure, which He purposed in Him

11 according to the purpose of the ages, which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,

John 1:18
18 No one has ever yet seen God. The only begotten God, the One being in the bosom of the Father, He has made Him known.
John 3:35
35 The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.
John 5:21-29
21 For even as the Father raises up the dead and gives life, thus also the Son gives life to whom He will.
22 For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son,
23 so that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who is not honoring the Son is not honoring the Father, the One having sent Him.
24 Truly, truly, I say to you that the one hearing My word and believing the One having sent Me, he has eternal life and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
25 Truly, truly, I say to you that an hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those having heard will live.
26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so also He gave to the Son to have life in Himself.
27 And He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.
28 Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming in which all those in the tombs will hear His voice,
29 and will come forth—those having done good to the resurrection of life, and those having done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
John 6:46
46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One being from God; He has seen the Father.

7 If you had known Me, you would also have known My Father. From now you know Him, and have seen Him.”
8 Philip says to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”
9 Jesus says to him, “Am I with you so long a time, and you have not known Me, Philip? The one having seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
John 17:2-3

6 I revealed Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, and to Me You gave them, and they have kept Your word.
John 17:25-26
1 Corinthians 15:25-27
25 For it behooves Him to reign until He shall have put all the enemies under His feet.
26 The last enemy to be abolished is death.
27 For “He has put in subjection all things under His feet.” But when it may be said that all things have been put in subjection, it is evident that the One having put in subjection all things to Him is excepted.
Ephesians 1:20-23
20 which He worked in Christ, having raised Him out from the dead, and having set Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms,
21 above every principality and authority and power and dominion, and every name being named, not only in this age, but also in the one coming.
22 And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,
23 which is His body, the fullness of the One filling all in all.
Philippians 2:10-11
Hebrews 2:8-10
8 You have put in subjection all things under his feet. For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing unsubject to him. But at present not yet do we see all things having been subjected to him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, because of the suffering of death, having been crowned with glory and with honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.
10 For it was fitting to Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, having brought many sons to glory, to make perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings.
1 Peter 3:22
22 who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers having been subjected to Him.

10 Now therefore, why are you testing God, to put upon the neck of the disciples a yoke that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?
Romans 7:22-25
22 For I delight in the Law of God according to the inward man;
23 but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and making me captive to the law of sin being in my members.
24 O wretched man I am! Who will deliver me out of this body of death?
25 Thanks be then to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself indeed with my mind serve God’s Law; but with the flesh, the Law of sin.
Galatians 5:1
1 In freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore and do not be entangled again in a yoke of slavery!

46 And why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I say?
47 Everyone who is coming to Me, and hearing My words, and doing them, I will show you whom he is like.
48 He is like to a man building a house, who dug and deepened, and laid a foundation on the rock. And a flood having come, the stream burst upon that house, and was not able to shake it, because it had been built well.
Luke 8:35
35 And they went out to see that having taken place, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out sitting, clothed, and being of sound mind, at the feet of Jesus. And they were afraid.

51 And it came to pass in the completing of the days of His ascension, that He steadfastly set the face to go to Jerusalem.
52 And He sent messengers before His face. And having gone, they entered into a village of the Samaritans, so as to make ready for Him.
53 And they did not receive Him, because His face was going toward Jerusalem.
54 And the disciples James and John having seen it, said, “Lord, will You that we should call fire to come down from heaven and to consume them?”
55 And having turned, He rebuked them,
56 and they went to another village.
Luke 10:39-42
39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also, having sat down at the feet of the Lord, was listening to His word.
40 But Martha was distracted about much service; and having come up, she said, “Lord, is it not concerning to You that my sister has left me alone to serve? Therefore speak to her, that she might help me!”
41 And the Lord answering said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things;
42 but one thing is necessary, only one; for Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

22 Judas (not Iscariot) says to Him, “Lord, then what has occurred, that You are about to manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”
23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and we will come to him and will make a home with him.
24 The one not loving Me does not keep My words. And the word that you hear is not Mine, but that of the Father having sent Me.
John 15:10-14
10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
11 These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you and your joy may be full.
12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I loved you.
13 Greater love has no one than this, that one should lay down his life for his friends.
14 You are My friends, if you do what I command you.

Hebrews 4:3-11
3 For those having believed enter into the rest, as He has said: “So I swore in my wrath, ‘they shall not enter into My rest.’” And yet the works have been finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For He has spoken somewhere concerning the seventh day in this way, “And on the seventh day God rested from all His works.”
5 And again in this passage. “They shall not enter into My rest.”
6 Therefore, since it remains for some to enter into it, and those having received the good news formerly did not enter in because of disobedience,
7 again He appoints a certain day as “Today,” saying through David after so long a time, just as it has been said, “Today, if you shall hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”
8 For if Joshua had given rest to them, He would not have spoken after this about another day.
9 So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.
10 For the one having entered into His rest, he also rested from his works, as God did from the own.
11 Therefore we should be diligent to enter into that rest, so that no one should fall by the same example of disobedience.
Hebrews 5:9
9 and having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all those obeying Him,
1 Peter 2:21-23

22 “Who committed no sin, neither was deceit found in His mouth.”
23 Who being reviled did not retaliate; suffering did not threaten, but He gave Himself over to Him judging justly.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10
9 And He said to me, “My grace suffices you, for the power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore will I boast rather most gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, and difficulties for Christ; for when I might be weak, then I am strong.

18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.
