⁴⁷ While He was still speaking, behold, a crowd, and he who is called Judas, one of the Twelve, was going before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him.

¹⁴ Then one of the Twelve, the one being called Judas Iscariot, having gone to the chief priests, ¹⁵ said, “What are you willing to give me, and I will betray Him to you?” And they appointed to him thirty pieces of silver. ¹⁶ And from that time, he was seeking an opportunity that he might betray Him.

⁴⁵ Then He comes to the disciples and says to them, “Sleep and take your rest later on. Behold, the hour has drawn near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. ⁴⁶ Rise up, let us go! Behold, he who is betraying Me has drawn near!” ⁴⁷ And as He is still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the Twelve, came, and with him great a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. ⁴⁸ And the one betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, “Whomever I shall kiss, it is He; seize Him.” ⁴⁹ And having come up to Jesus immediately, he said, “Greetings, Rabbi,” and kissed Him. ⁵⁰ And Jesus said to him, “Friend, for what are you come?” Then having approached, they laid hands on Jesus and seized Him. ⁵¹ And behold, one of those with Jesus, having stretched out the hand, drew his sword, and having struck the servant of the high priest, cut off his ear. ⁵² Then Jesus says to him, “Return your sword into its place; for all those having taken the sword, will perish by the sword. ⁵³ Or do you think that I am not able to call upon My Father, and He will furnish to Me presently more than twelve legions of angels? ⁵⁴ How then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?” ⁵⁵ In that hour, Jesus said to the crowds, “Did you come out with swords and clubs, as against a robber, to capture Me? Every day in the temple I was sitting, teaching, and you did not seize Me. ⁵⁶ And all this is come to pass, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then the disciples all, having forsaken Him, fled.

¹⁰ And Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might betray Him to them.

⁴¹ And He comes the third time and says to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough; the hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is delivered up into the hands of the sinful. ⁴² Rise, let us go. Behold, the one betraying Me has drawn near!” ⁴³ And immediately while yet He is speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, comes up, and with Him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. ⁴⁴ And the one delivering Him up had given to them a sign, saying: “Whomever I shall kiss is He; seize Him and lead Him away securely.” ⁴⁵ And having arrived, having come up to Him immediately, he says, “Rabbi!” And he kissed Him. ⁴⁶ And they laid hands on Him and seized Him. ⁴⁷ And a certain one of those standing by, having drawn the sword, struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear. ⁴⁸ And Jesus answering said to them, “Are you come out with swords and clubs as against a robber, to capture Me? ⁴⁹ Every day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me. But it is that the Scriptures may be fulfilled.” ⁵⁰ And all having left Him, fled.

³ And Satan entered into Judas the one being called Iscariot, being of the number of the Twelve. ⁴ And having gone away, he spoke with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them. ⁵ And they rejoiced and agreed to give him money. ⁶ And he promised, and began seeking opportunity to betray Him to them apart from a crowd.

² Now Judas, who was delivering Him up, also knew the place, because Jesus often gathered together there with His disciples. ³ Therefore Judas, having procured the cohort and officers from the chief priests and from the Pharisees, comes there with lanterns and torches and weapons. ⁴ Therefore Jesus, knowing all things that are coming upon Him, having gone forth, also said to them, “Whom do you seek?” ⁵ They answered Him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” He says to them, “I am He.” Now Judas, who is delivering Him up, also had been standing with them. ⁶ Therefore when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew toward the back and fell to the ground. ⁷ Therefore He questioned them again, “Whom do you seek?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.” ⁸ Jesus answered, “I have told you that I am He. Therefore if you seek Me, allow these to go away,” ⁹ so that the word that He had spoken might be fulfilled, “Those whom You have given Me, I have lost none of them, not one.” ¹⁰ Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. Now the servant’s name was Malchus. ¹¹ Therefore Jesus said to Peter, “Put the sword into the sheath. The cup which the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?”

¹⁶ “Men, brothers, it was necessary for the Scripture to have been fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David concerning Judas, the one having become guide to those having arrested Jesus. ¹⁷ For he was numbered with us, and was allotted a share of this ministry.” ¹⁸ (Then indeed this man acquired a field out of the reward of unrighteousness, and having fallen headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out.
