John 6 Cross References - BLB

1 After these things Jesus went away, over the Sea of Galilee (of Tiberias), 2 and a great crowd was following Him because they were seeing the signs which He was doing upon those being sick. 3 Now Jesus went up on the mountain and was sitting there with His disciples. 4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near. 5 Then Jesus, having lifted up the eyes and having seen that a great crowd is coming to Him, says to Philip, “From where shall we buy bread that these might eat?” 6 Now He was saying this testing him, for He knew what He was about to do. 7 Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of loaves are not sufficient for them, that each might receive one little piece.” 8 One of His disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, says to Him, 9 “Here is a little boy who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are these for so many?” 10 Jesus said, “Make the men to recline.” Now there was much grass in the place; therefore the men reclined, about five thousand in number. 11 And Jesus took the loaves, and having given thanks, He distributed to those reclining; likewise also of the fish, as much as they wished. 12 Now when they were filled, He says to His disciples, “Gather together the fragments having been over and above, so that not anything may be lost.” 13 So they gathered them together and filled twelve hand-baskets of fragments from the five barley loaves, which were over and above to those having eaten. 14 Therefore the people, having seen what sign He had done, were saying, “This is truly the prophet who is coming into the world.” 15 Therefore Jesus, having known that they are about to come and to seize Him that they might make Him king, withdrew again to the mountain Himself alone. 16 Now when it became evening, His disciples went down to the sea, 17 and having entered into a boat, they were going over the sea to Capernaum. And already it had become dark, and Jesus had not come to them. 18 The sea was agitated and a strong wind is blowing. 19 Therefore, having rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they see Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened. 20 Now He says to them, “I am He; do not fear.” 21 Then they were willing to receive Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going. 22 On the next day, the crowd standing on the other side of the sea, having seen that no other boat was there except one, and that Jesus did not go with His disciples into the boat, but His disciples went away alone 23 (but other boats from Tiberias came near the place where they ate the bread, the Lord having given thanks), 24 therefore when the crowd saw that Jesus is not there, nor His disciples, they themselves entered into the boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. 25 And having found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when have You come here?” 26 Jesus answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were satisfied. 27 Do not work for the food that is perishing, but for the food enduring unto eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you; for God the Father has sealed Him.” 28 Therefore they said to Him, “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.” 30 Therefore they said to Him, “Then what sign are You doing, that we may see and may believe You? What work do You perform? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” 32 Therefore Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Moses has not given you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the One coming out of heaven and giving life to the world.” 34 Therefore they said to Him, “Sir, always give to us this bread.” 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; the one coming to Me never shall hunger, and the one believing in Me never shall thirst at any time. 36 But I said to you that you have also seen Me, and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one coming to Me, I shall not cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not that I should do My will, but the will of the One having sent Me. 39 Now this is the will of the One having sent Me, that all that He has given Me, I should lose none of it, but will raise it up in the last day. 40 For this is the will of My Father, that everyone beholding the Son and believing in Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up in the last day.” 41 Therefore the Jews were grumbling about Him because He said, “I am the bread having come down from heaven.” 42 And they were saying, “Is this not Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does He say, ‘I have come down from heaven?’” 43 Jesus answered and said to them, “Do not grumble with one another. 44 No one is able to come to Me unless the Father, the one having sent Me, draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets: ‘And they will all be taught of God.’ Everyone having heard from the Father and having learned, comes to Me. 46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One being from God; He has seen the Father. 47 Truly, truly, I say to you, the one believing has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and died. 50 This is the bread coming down from heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread, having come down from heaven. If anyone shall have eaten of this bread, he will live to the age. And also, the bread that I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” 52 Therefore the Jews were arguing with one another, saying, “How is this man able to give us His flesh to eat?” 53 Therefore Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you shall have eaten the flesh of the Son of Man, and shall have drunk His blood, you do not have life in yourselves. 54 The one eating My flesh and drinking My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up in the last day. 55 For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56 The one eating My flesh and drinking My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so also the one feeding on Me, he also will live because of Me. 58 This is the bread having come down from heaven, not as the fathers ate and died. The one eating this bread will live to the age.” 59 He said these things teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. 60 Therefore many of His disciples having heard, said, “This word is difficult; who is able to hear it?” 61 But Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples are grumbling about this, said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 Then what if you should see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before? 63 It is the Spirit giving life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who are those not believing, and who it is who will betray Him.) 65 And He was saying, “Because of this, I have said to you that no one is able to come to Me, unless it shall have been granted to him from the Father.” 66 From that time, many of His disciples departed to the back and no longer walked with Him. 67 Therefore Jesus said to the Twelve, “You are not wishing to go away also?” 68 Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom will we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 And we have believed and have known that You are the Holy One of God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the Twelve? And one of you is a devil!” 71 Now He was speaking of Judas son of Simon Iscariot; for he, one of the Twelve, was about to betray Him.

John 6:37

37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one coming to Me, I shall not cast out.

John 6:44-45

44 No one is able to come to Me unless the Father, the one having sent Me, draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets: ‘And they will all be taught of God.’ Everyone having heard from the Father and having learned, comes to Me.

John 6:48-58

The one eating this bread will live to the age.”

1 Corinthians 10:16-18

16 Is not the cup of blessing that we bless a participation in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one loaf, we the many are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf. 18 Consider Israel according to flesh: Are not those eating the sacrifices fellow partakers in the altar?

1 Corinthians 11:23-29

23 For I received from the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed, took bread, 24 and having given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 Likewise also the cup after having supped, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you might drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you may eat this bread and may drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He should come. 27 Therefore whoever should eat the bread or should drink the cup of the Lord unworthily will be guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and in this manner let him eat of the bread, and let him drink of the cup. 29 For the one eating and drinking not discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself.

55 And you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I say that I do not know Him, I will be a liar like you. But I know Him, and I keep His word.

John 14:9-10

9 Jesus says to him, “Am I with you so long a time, and you have not known Me, Philip? The one having seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I speak to you, I do not speak from Myself; but the Father dwelling in Me does His works.

John 6:33-35

33 For the bread of God is the One coming out of heaven and giving life to the world.” 34 Therefore they said to Him, “Sir, always give to us this bread.” 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; the one coming to Me never shall hunger, and the one believing in Me never shall thirst at any time.

1 Corinthians 10:16-17

16 Is not the cup of blessing that we bless a participation in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one loaf, we the many are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf.

24 and having given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 Likewise also the cup after having supped, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you might drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

Hebrews 3:17-19

17 And with whom was He indignant forty years, if not with those having sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they shall not enter into His rest, if not to those having disobeyed? 19 And we see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.

14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all lawlessness and might purify to Himself a people specially chosen, zealous of good works.

Hebrews 10:5-12

5 Therefore coming into the world, He says: “Sacrifice and offering You have not desired, but a body You have prepared me. 6 In burnt offerings and offerings for sin You have not delighted. 7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— in the scroll of the book it is written of Me— to do Your will, O God.’” 8 Saying above, “Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offerings for sin, You have not desired, nor have You delighted in” (which are offered according to the Law), 9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first that He might establish the second. 10 By that will, we are having been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And indeed every priest stands every day, ministering and offering the same sacrifices repeatedly, which never are able to take away sins. 12 But this One, having offered one sacrifice for sins in perpetuity, sat down at the right hand of God,

7 But whatever things were gain to me, these I have esteemed loss because of Christ. 8 But indeed, therefore, I also count all things to be loss because of the excelling knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, because of whom I have lost all things, and esteem them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness which is of the Law, but that which is through faith from Christ, the righteousness of God on the basis of faith, 10 to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

1 Corinthians 2:9-14

9 But as it has been written: “What no eye has seen, and no ear has heard, and has not entered into heart of man, what God has prepared for those loving Him.” 10 For God has revealed it to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the things of the man, except the spirit of the man within him? So also, no one knows the things of God, except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit from God, that we may know the things having been granted to us by God, 13 which also we speak, not in words taught of human wisdom, but in those taught of the Spirit, communicating spiritual things by spiritual means. 14 But the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to understand them, because spiritually they are discerned.

For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7 Now if the ministry of death, having been engraved in letters on stones, was produced in glory, so as for the sons of Israel not to be able to look intently into the face of Moses, on account of the glory of his face which is fading, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more in glory?

Abraham did not do this. 41 You are doing the works of your father.” Therefore they said to Him, “We have not been born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.” 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would have loved Me, for I came forth from God and am here; for not even have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to hear My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and you desire to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he might speak falsehood, he speaks from the own; for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 Now because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me! 46 Which of you convicts me concerning sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears the words of God; because of this, you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

John 13:18-21

18 I speak not about all of you. I know whom I chose; but it is that the Scripture may be fulfilled: ‘The one eating My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’ 19 I am telling you from this time, before it comes to pass, so that when it comes to pass you should believe that I am He. 20 Truly, truly, I say to you, the one receiving whomever I shall send, receives Me; and the one receiving Me, receives the One having sent Me.” 21 Having said these things, Jesus was troubled in spirit, and He testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you that one of you will betray Me.”

16 Do not be misled, my beloved brothers. 17 Every good act of giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of shifting. 18 Having willed it, He brought us forth by the word of truth, for us to be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

Matthew 12:40-45

40 For just as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. 41 The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it. For they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, a greater than Jonah is here. 42 The queen of the south will rise up in the judgment with this the generation and will condemn it. For she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 43 Now when the unclean spirit is gone out from the man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from where I came out.’ And having come, it finds it being unoccupied, and swept, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself; and having entered in, they dwell there, and the last of that the man becomes worse than the first. So also will it be unto this evil generation.”

Matthew 13:20-21

20 And the one having been sown upon the rocky places, this is the one hearing the word and immediately receiving it with joy. 21 And he has in himself no root, but is temporary. And having come tribulation or persecution on account of the word, immediately he falls away.

20 For if, having escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, now again having been entangled in these they are subdued, the last state has become worse to them than the first. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to have turned from the holy commandment having been delivered to them. 22 The thing true of the proverb has happened to them: “A dog having returned to its own vomit,” and, “A sow having washed, to her rolling place in the mire.”
