¹² If others partake of the authority over you, should we not more? But we did not use this right. Instead, we bear all things, so that we should not place any hindrance to the gospel of Christ.

⁵² Woe to you lawyers, for you have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter, and you hindered those who are entering.”

³ and because of being of the same trade, he stayed with them and worked. For they were tentmakers by the trade.

³¹ Therefore stay awake, remembering that three years night and day I never ceased admonishing each one with tears. ³² And now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, being able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all those having been sanctified. ³³ I coveted nobody’s silver or gold or clothing. ³⁴ You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my needs and to those being with me.

²² Therefore also I have been hindered many times to come to you.

¹¹ As far as the present hour, we both hunger and thirst, and are poorly clad, and are buffeted, and wander homeless, ¹² and we toil, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;

¹⁴ I do not write these things shaming you, but admonishing you as my beloved children. ¹⁵ For if you should have ten thousand guardians in Christ, yet not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

⁷ Therefore indeed it is already altogether a defeat for you that you have lawsuits among one another. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded?

² If I am not an apostle to others, yet at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

¹⁵ But I have not used any of these. And neither have I written these things that it should be thus with me; for it would be better to me to die, rather than that anyone will make void my boasting.

¹⁸ What then is my reward? That in preaching the gospel, I should offer the gospel free of charge, so as not to use up my right in the gospel.

³ Placing no obstacle in anyone’s way so that our ministry should not be blemished,

⁷ Or did I commit a sin, humbling myself, so that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you freely? ⁸ I robbed other churches, having received support for service toward you. ⁹ And being present with you and having been in need, I did not burden anyone; for the brothers having come from Macedonia completely filled up my need, and in everything I kept and will keep myself unburdensome to you. ¹⁰ The truth of Christ is in me, that this boasting of mine will not be sealed up in the regions of Achaia.

¹² But what I do, I will continue doing, so that I might cut off the opportunity of those desiring an opportunity that they might be found as also we in what they are boasting.

²⁰ For you bear it if anyone enslaves you, if anyone devours you, if anyone takes from you, if anyone exalts himself, if anyone strikes you in your face.

¹³ For in what is it that you were inferior beyond the rest of the churches, except that I myself did not burden you? Forgive me this wrong! ¹⁴ Behold, this third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not burden you. For I do not seek what is yours, but you. For the children ought not to treasure up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

⁶ nor seeking glory from men, nor from you, nor from others, though having authority with weight to be, as apostles of Christ. ⁷ But we were gentle in your midst, as a nursing mother would cherish her own children. ⁸ So yearning over you, we were pleased to have imparted to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you have become beloved to us. ⁹ For you remember, brothers, our labor and hardship: Working night and day in order not to burden any one of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.

⁸ nor did we eat bread from anyone without payment, but in labor and toil, working night and day in order not to be burdensome to any of you, ⁹ not that we do not have the right, but that we may offer ourselves as an example to you for you to imitate us.
