⁹ μάρτυς (Witness) γάρ (for) μού (my) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (-) Θεός (God), ᾧ (whom) λατρεύω (I serve) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) πνεύματί (spirit) μου (of me) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) εὐαγγελίῳ (gospel) τοῦ (of the) Υἱοῦ (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ὡς (how) ἀδιαλείπτως (unceasingly) μνείαν (mention) ὑμῶν (of you) ποιοῦμαι (I make),

¹⁵ οἵτινες (who) ἐνδείκνυνται (show) τὸ (the) ἔργον (work) τοῦ (of the) νόμου (law), γραπτὸν (written) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) καρδίαις (hearts) αὐτῶν (of them), συμμαρτυρούσης (bearing witness) αὐτῶν (their) τῆς (-) συνειδήσεως (conscience), καὶ (and) μεταξὺ (between) ἀλλήλων (one another), τῶν (the) λογισμῶν (thoughts) κατηγορούντων (accusing) ἢ (or) καὶ (also) ἀπολογουμένων (defending them)

¹⁶ αὐτὸ (Himself) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) συμμαρτυρεῖ (bears witness with) τῷ (the) πνεύματι (spirit) ἡμῶν (of us) ὅτι (that) ἐσμὲν (we are) τέκνα (children) Θεοῦ (of God).

¹² Ἡ (-) γὰρ (For) καύχησις (the boasting) ἡμῶν (of us) αὕτη (this) ἐστίν (is), τὸ (the) μαρτύριον (testimony) τῆς (of the) συνειδήσεως (conscience) ἡμῶν (of us), ὅτι (that) ἐν (in) ἁγιότητι (the holiness) καὶ (and) εἰλικρινείᾳ (sincerity) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), [καὶ] (and) οὐκ (not) ἐν (in) σοφίᾳ (wisdom) σαρκικῇ (fleshly), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐν (in) χάριτι (the grace) Θεοῦ (of God), ἀνεστράφημεν (we have conducted ourselves) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world), περισσοτέρως (more abundantly) δὲ (now) πρὸς (toward) ὑμᾶς (you).

²³ Ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however), μάρτυρα (as witness) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐπικαλοῦμαι (call) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (my) ψυχήν (soul), ὅτι (that) φειδόμενος (sparing) ὑμῶν (you), οὐκέτι (not yet) ἦλθον (have I come) εἰς (to) Κόρινθον (Corinth).

¹⁰ ἔστιν (Is) ἀλήθεια (the truth) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (me), ὅτι (that) ἡ (the) καύχησις (boasting) αὕτη (this) οὐ (not) φραγήσεται (will be sealed up) εἰς (of) ἐμὲ (mine) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) κλίμασιν (regions) τῆς (-) Ἀχαΐας (of Achaia).

³¹ ὁ (The) Θεὸς (God) καὶ (and) Πατὴρ (Father) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) οἶδεν (knows), ὁ (the One) ὢν (being) εὐλογητὸς (blessed) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages), ὅτι (that) οὐ (not) ψεύδομαι (I am lying).

¹⁹ Πάλαι (All along) δοκεῖτε (have you been thinking) ὅτι (that) ὑμῖν (to you) ἀπολογούμεθα (we have been making a defense)? κατέναντι (Before) Θεοῦ (God) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) λαλοῦμεν (we speak), τὰ (-) δὲ (but) πάντα (all things), ἀγαπητοί (beloved), ὑπὲρ (for) τῆς (-) ὑμῶν (your) οἰκοδομῆς (edification).

²⁰ ἃ (In what) δὲ (now) γράφω (I write) ὑμῖν (to you), ἰδοὺ (behold), ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ὅτι (-), οὐ (not) ψεύδομαι (I lie).

⁸ μάρτυς (Witness) γάρ (for) μου (my) ὁ (-) Θεός (God is), ὡς (how) ἐπιποθῶ (I long after) πάντας (all) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) σπλάγχνοις (the affection) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus).

⁵ οὔτε (Never) γάρ (for) ποτε (at any time) ἐν (with) λόγῳ (word) κολακείας* (of flattery) ἐγενήθημεν (were we), καθὼς (just as) οἴδατε (you know), οὔτε (nor) ἐν (with) προφάσει (a pretext) πλεονεξίας (for greed) — Θεὸς (God is) μάρτυς (witness) —

⁵ Τὸ (-) δὲ (And) τέλος (the goal) τῆς (of our) παραγγελίας (instruction) ἐστὶν (is) ἀγάπη (love) ἐκ (out of) καθαρᾶς (a pure) καρδίας (heart) καὶ (and) συνειδήσεως (a conscience) ἀγαθῆς (good) καὶ (and) πίστεως (a faith) ἀνυποκρίτου (sincere),

⁷ εἰς (in regard to) ὃ (which) ἐτέθην (was appointed) ἐγὼ (I) κῆρυξ (a herald) καὶ (and) ἀπόστολος (an apostle)— ἀλήθειαν (the truth) λέγω (I am speaking); οὐ (not) ψεύδομαι (I do lie)— διδάσκαλος (a teacher) ἐθνῶν (of the Gentiles), ἐν (in) πίστει (faith) καὶ (and) ἀληθείᾳ (truth).

²¹ Διαμαρτύρομαι (I earnestly testify) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) καὶ (and) Χριστοῦ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) καὶ (and) τῶν (the) ἐκλεκτῶν (elect) ἀγγέλων (angels) ἵνα (that) ταῦτα (these things) φυλάξῃς (you should keep), χωρὶς (apart from) προκρίματος (prejudice), μηδὲν (nothing) ποιῶν (doing) κατὰ (out of) πρόσκλισιν (partiality).

¹⁹ [καὶ] (And) ἐν (by) τούτῳ (this) γνωσόμεθα (we will know) ὅτι (that) ἐκ (of) τῆς (the) ἀληθείας (truth) ἐσμέν (we are), καὶ (and) ἔμπροσθεν (before) αὐτοῦ (Him) πείσομεν (we will assure) τὴν (the) καρδίαν (heart) ἡμῶν (of us), ²⁰ ὅτι (that) ἐὰν (if) καταγινώσκῃ (should condemn us) ἡμῶν (our) ἡ (-) καρδία (heart), ὅτι (that) μείζων (greater than) ἐστὶν (is) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τῆς (the) καρδίας (heart) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) γινώσκει (He knows) πάντα (all things). ²¹ Ἀγαπητοί (Beloved), ἐὰν (if) ἡ (the) καρδία (heart) ‹ἡμῶν› (of us) «μὴ (not) καταγινώσκῃ» (should condemn us), παρρησίαν (confidence) ἔχομεν (we have) πρὸς (toward) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God),
