¹⁴ ὅσοι (As many as) γὰρ (for) Πνεύματι (by the Spirit) Θεοῦ (of God) ἄγονται (are led), οὗτοι (these) υἱοί (sons) εἰσιν (are) Θεοῦ (of God).

¹² ὅσοι (As many as) δὲ (however) ἔλαβον (received) αὐτόν (Him), ἔδωκεν (He gave) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἐξουσίαν (authority) τέκνα (children) Θεοῦ (of God) γενέσθαι (to be), τοῖς (to those) πιστεύουσιν (believing) εἰς (in) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

⁵ Οἱ (Those) γὰρ (for) κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (flesh) ὄντες (being), τὰ (the things) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) φρονοῦσιν (mind); οἱ (those) δὲ (however) κατὰ (according to) πνεῦμα (Spirit), τὰ (the things) τοῦ (of the) πνεύματος (Spirit).

⁹ Ὑμεῖς (You) δὲ (now) οὐκ (not) ἐστὲ (are) ἐν (in) σαρκὶ (flesh), ἀλλὰ (but) ἐν (in) πνεύματι (Spirit), εἴπερ (if indeed the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) Θεοῦ (of God) οἰκεῖ (dwells) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you); εἰ (if) δέ (however) τις (anyone) Πνεῦμα (the Spirit) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) οὐκ (not) ἔχει (has), οὗτος (he) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹⁶ αὐτὸ (Himself) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) συμμαρτυρεῖ (bears witness with) τῷ (the) πνεύματι (spirit) ἡμῶν (of us) ὅτι (that) ἐσμὲν (we are) τέκνα (children) Θεοῦ (of God). ¹⁷ εἰ (If) δὲ (now) τέκνα (children), καὶ (also) κληρονόμοι (heirs), κληρονόμοι (heirs) μὲν (indeed) Θεοῦ (of God), συνκληρονόμοι (joint-heirs) δὲ (now) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), εἴπερ (if indeed) συμπάσχομεν (we suffer with Him), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (also) συνδοξασθῶμεν (we may be glorified together).

¹⁹ ἡ (The) γὰρ (for) ἀποκαραδοκία (earnest expectation) τῆς (of the) κτίσεως (creation), τὴν (the) ἀποκάλυψιν (revelation) τῶν (of the) υἱῶν (sons) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἀπεκδέχεται (awaits).

⁸ τοῦτ’ (That) ἔστιν (is), οὐ (not) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh), ταῦτα (these are) τέκνα (children) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); ἀλλὰ (but) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) τῆς (of the) ἐπαγγελίας (promise) λογίζεται (are regarded) εἰς (as) σπέρμα (offspring).

²⁶ Καὶ (and), “Ἔσται (It will happen that) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) τόπῳ (place) οὗ (where) ἐρρέθη (it was said) αὐτοῖς (to them), ‘Οὐ (Not) λαός (people) μου (My are) ὑμεῖς (You),’ ἐκεῖ (there) κληθήσονται (they will be called) ‘Υἱοὶ (sons) Θεοῦ (of God) ζῶντος (the living).’”

¹⁸ Καὶ (and) “Ἔσομαι (I will be) ὑμῖν (to you) εἰς (for) Πατέρα (a father), καὶ (and) ὑμεῖς (you) ἔσεσθέ (will be) μοι (to Me) εἰς (for) υἱοὺς (sons) καὶ (and) θυγατέρας (daughters), λέγει (says) Κύριος (the Lord) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty).”

²⁶ Πάντες (All) γὰρ (for) υἱοὶ (sons) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐστε (you are) διὰ (through) τῆς (-) πίστεως (faith) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus).

⁶ Ὅτι (Because) δέ (now) ἐστε (you are) υἱοί (sons), ἐξαπέστειλεν (sent forth) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τοῦ (of the) Υἱοῦ (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him) εἰς (into) τὰς (the) καρδίας (hearts) ἡμῶν (of us), κρᾶζον (crying out), “Ἀββᾶ (Abba), ὁ (-) Πατήρ (Father)!”

¹⁶ Λέγω (I say) δέ (now), Πνεύματι (by the Spirit) περιπατεῖτε (walk), καὶ (and) ἐπιθυμίαν (the desire) σαρκὸς (of the flesh) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) τελέσητε (you should gratify).

¹⁸ εἰ (If) δὲ (however) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) ἄγεσθε (you are led by), οὐκ (not) ἐστὲ (you are) ὑπὸ (under) νόμον (the Law).

²² Ὁ (-) δὲ (But) καρπὸς (the fruit) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματός (Spirit) ἐστιν (is) ἀγάπη (love), χαρά (joy), εἰρήνη (peace), μακροθυμία (patience), χρηστότης (kindness), ἀγαθωσύνη (goodness), πίστις (faithfulness), ²³ πραΰτης (gentleness), ἐγκράτεια (self-control); κατὰ (against) τῶν (things) τοιούτων (such), οὐκ (no) ἔστιν (there is) νόμος (law). ²⁴ Οἱ (Those) δὲ (now) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), τὴν (the) σάρκα (flesh) ἐσταύρωσαν (have crucified) σὺν (with) τοῖς (its) παθήμασιν (passions) καὶ (and) ταῖς (-) ἐπιθυμίαις (desires). ²⁵ Εἰ (If) ζῶμεν (we live) Πνεύματι (by the Spirit), Πνεύματι (by the Spirit) καὶ (also) στοιχῶμεν (we should walk).

⁵ προορίσας (having predestined) ἡμᾶς (us) εἰς (for) υἱοθεσίαν (divine adoption as sons) διὰ (through) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), εἰς (to) αὐτόν (Himself), κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) εὐδοκίαν (good pleasure) τοῦ (of the) θελήματος (will) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

⁹ ὁ (-) γὰρ (for) καρπὸς (the fruit) τοῦ (of the) φωτὸς (light is) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (all) ἀγαθωσύνῃ (goodness) καὶ (and) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness) καὶ (and) ἀληθείᾳ (truth)—

¹ Ἴδετε (Behold) ποταπὴν (what) ἀγάπην (love) δέδωκεν (has given) ἡμῖν (to us) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father), ἵνα (that) τέκνα (children) Θεοῦ (of God) κληθῶμεν (we should be called) — καὶ (and) ἐσμέν (we are)! διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this), ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) οὐ (not) γινώσκει (knows) ἡμᾶς (us), ὅτι (because) οὐκ (not) ἔγνω (it knew) αὐτόν (Him).

⁷ ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming) κληρονομήσει (will inherit) ταῦτα (all things), καὶ (and) ἔσομαι (I will be) αὐτῷ (his) Θεὸς (God), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (he) ἔσται (will be) μοι (My) υἱός (son).
