¹ Δικαιωθέντες (Having been justified) οὖν (therefore) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith), εἰρήνην (peace) ἔχομεν* (we have) πρὸς (with) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ),

¹⁴ “Δόξα (Glory) ἐν (in) ὑψίστοις (the highest) Θεῷ (to God), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) γῆς (earth) εἰρήνη (peace) ἐν (among) ἀνθρώποις (men) εὐδοκίας (with whom He is pleased)!”

⁵ Εἰς (Into) ἣν (whatever) δ’ (now) ἂν (-) εἰσέλθητε (you might enter) οἰκίαν (house), πρῶτον (first) λέγετε (say) ‘Εἰρήνη (Peace) τῷ (to the) οἴκῳ (house) τούτῳ (this).’ ⁶ καὶ (And) ἐὰν (if) ἐκεῖ (there) ᾖ (is) υἱὸς (a son) εἰρήνης (of peace), ἐπαναπαήσεται (will rest) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (him) ἡ (the) εἰρήνη (peace) ὑμῶν (of you); εἰ (if) δὲ (however) μή¦γε (not so), ἐφ’ (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἀνακάμψει (it will return).

³⁸ λέγοντες (saying): “Εὐλογημένος (Blessed is) ὁ (the) ἐρχόμενος (coming) ὁ (-) Βασιλεὺς (King) ἐν (in) ὀνόματι (the name) Κυρίου (of the Lord).” “Ἐν (In) οὐρανῷ (heaven) εἰρήνη (peace), καὶ (and) δόξα (glory) ἐν (in) ὑψίστοις (the highest).”

⁴² λέγων (saying) ὅτι (-), “Εἰ (If) ἔγνως (you had known) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἡμέρᾳ (day) ταύτῃ (this), καὶ (even) σὺ (you), τὰ (the things) πρὸς (for) εἰρήνην (peace)! νῦν (Now) δὲ (however) ἐκρύβη (they are hidden) ἀπὸ (from) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) σου (of you).

¹⁶ Οὕτως (Thus) γὰρ (for) ἠγάπησεν (loved) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), ὥστε (that) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son), τὸν (the) μονογενῆ (only begotten), ἔδωκεν (He gave), ἵνα (so that) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) αὐτὸν (Him) μὴ (not) ἀπόληται (should perish), ἀλλ’ (but) ἔχῃ (should have) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal). ¹⁷ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) ἀπέστειλεν (sent) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸν (-) Υἱὸν (His Son) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) ἵνα (that) κρίνῃ (He might judge) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), ἀλλ’ (but) ἵνα (that) σωθῇ (might be saved) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) δι’ (through) αὐτοῦ (Him). ¹⁸ ὁ (The one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (on) αὐτὸν (Him) οὐ (not) κρίνεται (is judged); ὁ (the one) ‹δὲ› (but) μὴ (not) πιστεύων (believing) ἤδη (already) κέκριται (has been judged), ὅτι (because) μὴ (not) πεπίστευκεν (he has believed) εἰς (in) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) μονογενοῦς (only begotten) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

²⁴ Ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the one) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) μου (of Me) ἀκούων (hearing), καὶ (and) πιστεύων (believing) τῷ (the One) πέμψαντί (having sent) με (Me), ἔχει (he has) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal) καὶ (and) εἰς (into) κρίσιν (judgment) οὐκ (not) ἔρχεται (comes), ἀλλὰ (but) μεταβέβηκεν (has passed) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) θανάτου (death) εἰς (into) τὴν (-) ζωήν (life).

²⁷ Εἰρήνην (Peace) ἀφίημι (I leave) ὑμῖν (with you); εἰρήνην (peace) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (My) δίδωμι (I give) ὑμῖν (to you); οὐ (not) καθὼς (as) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) δίδωσιν (gives), ἐγὼ (I) δίδωμι (give) ὑμῖν (to you). μὴ (Not) ταρασσέσθω (let be troubled) ὑμῶν (of you) ἡ (the) καρδία (heart), μηδὲ (nor) δειλιάτω (let it fear).

³³ ταῦτα (These things) λελάληκα (I have spoken) ὑμῖν (to you) ἵνα (so that) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (Me) εἰρήνην (peace) ἔχητε (you may have). ἐν (In) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world) θλῖψιν (tribulation) ἔχετε (you have). ἀλλὰ (But) θαρσεῖτε (take courage); ἐγὼ (I) νενίκηκα (have overcome) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world).”

³¹ ταῦτα (these) δὲ (however) γέγραπται (have been written) ἵνα (that) πιστεύητε (you may believe) ὅτι (that) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ), ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) ἵνα (that) πιστεύοντες (believing), ζωὴν (life) ἔχητε (you may have) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματι (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

³⁶ τὸν (the) λόγον (word) ὃν (that) ἀπέστειλεν (He sent) τοῖς (to the) υἱοῖς (sons) Ἰσραὴλ (of Israel), εὐαγγελιζόμενος (proclaiming the gospel), εἰρήνην (peace) διὰ (by) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ)— οὗτός (He) ἐστιν (is) πάντων (of all) Κύριος (Lord).

³⁸ Γνωστὸν (Known) οὖν (therefore) ἔστω (be it) ὑμῖν (to you), ἄνδρες (men), ἀδελφοί (brothers), ὅτι (that) διὰ (through) τούτου (this One), ὑμῖν (to you) ἄφεσις (forgiveness) ἁμαρτιῶν (of sins) καταγγέλλεται (is proclaimed). ³⁹ καὶ (And) ἀπὸ (from) πάντων (all things) ὧν (from which) οὐκ (not) ἠδυνήθητε (you were able) ἐν (in) νόμῳ (the law) Μωϋσέως (of Moses) δικαιωθῆναι (to be justified), ἐν (in) τούτῳ (Him) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) πιστεύων (believing) δικαιοῦται (is justified).

⁷ Πᾶσιν (To all) τοῖς (those) οὖσιν (being) ἐν (in) Ῥώμῃ (Rome), ἀγαπητοῖς (beloved) Θεοῦ (of God), κλητοῖς (called) ἁγίοις (saints): Χάρις (Grace) ὑμῖν (to you) καὶ (and) εἰρήνη (peace) ἀπὸ (from) Θεοῦ (God) Πατρὸς (the Father) ἡμῶν (of us) καὶ (and) Κυρίου (the Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ).

¹⁷ δικαιοσύνη (The righteousness) γὰρ (for) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (it) ἀποκαλύπτεται (is revealed), ἐκ (from) πίστεως (faith) εἰς (to) πίστιν (faith), καθὼς (as) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) δίκαιος (the righteous) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith) ζήσεται (will live).”

²² δικαιοσύνη (the righteousness) δὲ (now) Θεοῦ (of God) διὰ (through) πίστεως (faith) Ἰησοῦ (from Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) εἰς (toward) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) πιστεύοντας (believing). οὐ (Not) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (there is) διαστολή (distinction).

²⁶ ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀνοχῇ (forbearance) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); πρὸς (for) τὴν (of) ἔνδειξιν (the showing forth) τῆς (the) δικαιοσύνης (righteousness) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) νῦν (present) καιρῷ (time), εἰς (for) τὸ (-) εἶναι (to be) αὐτὸν (Him) δίκαιον (just) καὶ (and) δικαιοῦντα (justifying) τὸν (the one) ἐκ (of) πίστεως (faith) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). ²⁷ Ποῦ (Where) οὖν (then is) ἡ (the) καύχησις (boasting)? ἐξεκλείσθη (It has been excluded). διὰ (Through) ποίου (what) νόμου (principle)? τῶν (That) ἔργων (of works)? οὐχί (No), ἀλλὰ (but) διὰ (through) νόμου (the principle) πίστεως (of faith). ²⁸ λογιζόμεθα (We reckon) γὰρ (therefore) δικαιοῦσθαι (to be justified) πίστει (by faith) ἄνθρωπον (a man), χωρὶς (apart from) ἔργων (works) νόμου (of the Law).

³⁰ εἴπερ (since indeed) εἷς (One) ὁ (-) Θεός (God is), ὃς (who) δικαιώσει (will justify) περιτομὴν (the circumcision) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith) καὶ (and) ἀκροβυστίαν (the uncircumcision) διὰ (through) τῆς (the same) πίστεως (faith).

⁵ τῷ (To the one) δὲ (however) μὴ (not) ἐργαζομένῳ (working), πιστεύοντι (believing) δὲ (however) ἐπὶ (on) τὸν (the One) δικαιοῦντα (justifying) τὸν (the) ἀσεβῆ (ungodly), λογίζεται (is reckoned) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) αὐτοῦ (of him) εἰς (for) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness),

²⁴ ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) δι’ (on account of) ἡμᾶς (us), οἷς (to whom) μέλλει (it is about) λογίζεσθαι (to be credited), τοῖς (to those) πιστεύουσιν (believing) ἐπὶ (on) τὸν (the One) ἐγείραντα (having raised) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), ²⁵ ὃς (who) παρεδόθη (was delivered over) διὰ (for) τὰ (the) παραπτώματα (trespasses) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) ἠγέρθη (was raised) διὰ (for) τὴν (the) δικαίωσιν (justification) ἡμῶν (of us).

⁹ Πολλῷ (Much) οὖν (therefore) μᾶλλον (more), δικαιωθέντες (having been justified) νῦν (now) ἐν (by) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) αὐτοῦ (of Him), σωθησόμεθα (we will be saved) δι’ (by) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ὀργῆς (wrath)! ¹⁰ εἰ (If) γὰρ (for), ἐχθροὶ (enemies) ὄντες (being), κατηλλάγημεν (we were reconciled) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) θανάτου (death) τοῦ (of the) Υἱοῦ (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him), πολλῷ (much) μᾶλλον (more), καταλλαγέντες (having been reconciled), σωθησόμεθα (shall we be saved) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ζωῇ (life) αὐτοῦ (of Him)!

¹⁸ Ἄρα (So) οὖν (then), ὡς (just as) δι’ (by) ἑνὸς (one) παραπτώματος (trespass), εἰς (to) πάντας (all) ἀνθρώπους (men) εἰς (it is unto) κατάκριμα (condemnation), οὕτως (so) καὶ (also) δι’ (by) ἑνὸς (one) δικαιώματος (act of righteousness), εἰς (to) πάντας (all) ἀνθρώπους (men) εἰς (it is unto) δικαίωσιν (justification) ζωῆς (of life).

²³ τὰ (The) γὰρ (for) ὀψώνια (wages) τῆς (-) ἁμαρτίας (of sin) θάνατος (is death); τὸ (-) δὲ (but) χάρισμα (the gift) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ζωὴ (life) αἰώνιος (eternal) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) τῷ (the) Κυρίῳ (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us).

³⁰ Τί (What) οὖν (then) ἐροῦμεν (will we say)? ὅτι (That) ἔθνη (Gentiles) τὰ (-) μὴ (not) διώκοντα (pursuing) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness), κατέλαβεν (have attained) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness), δικαιοσύνην (righteousness) δὲ (now) τὴν (that is) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith);

¹⁰ καρδίᾳ (In the heart) γὰρ (for) πιστεύεται (is belief) εἰς (unto) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness); στόματι (in the mouth) δὲ (now) ὁμολογεῖται (is confession) εἰς (unto) σωτηρίαν (salvation).

¹⁵ πῶς (How) δὲ (now) κηρύξωσιν (shall they preach) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) ἀποσταλῶσιν (they are sent)? καθὼς* (As) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Ὡς (How) ὡραῖοι (beautiful) οἱ (the) πόδες (feet) τῶν (of those) εὐαγγελιζομένων (proclaiming good news) ‹τὰ› (of) ἀγαθά (good things)!”

¹⁷ οὐ (Not) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) βρῶσις (eating) καὶ (and) πόσις (drinking), ἀλλὰ (but) δικαιοσύνη (righteousness) καὶ (and) εἰρήνη (peace) καὶ (and) χαρὰ (joy) ἐν (in the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy).

¹³ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Θεὸς (the God) τῆς (-) ἐλπίδος (of hope) πληρώσαι (may fill) ὑμᾶς (you) πάσης (with all) χαρᾶς (joy) καὶ (and) εἰρήνης (peace), ἐν (in) τῷ (-) πιστεύειν (believing); εἰς (for) τὸ (-) περισσεύειν (to abound) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) ἐλπίδι (hope) ἐν (in) δυνάμει (the power) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy).

³³ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Θεὸς (the God) τῆς (-) εἰρήνης (of peace) μετὰ (be with) πάντων (all) ὑμῶν (of you). ἀμήν (Amen).

¹⁸ Τὰ (-) δὲ (And) πάντα (all things) ἐκ (are of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), τοῦ (the One) καταλλάξαντος (having reconciled) ἡμᾶς (us) ἑαυτῷ (to Himself) διὰ (through) Χριστοῦ (Christ), καὶ (and) δόντος (having given) ἡμῖν (to us) τὴν (the) διακονίαν (ministry) τῆς (-) καταλλαγῆς (of reconciliation), ¹⁹ ὡς (how) ὅτι (that) Θεὸς (God) ἦν (was) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) κόσμον (the world) καταλλάσσων (reconciling) ἑαυτῷ (to Himself), μὴ (not) λογιζόμενος (reckoning) αὐτοῖς (to them) τὰ (the) παραπτώματα (trespasses) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) θέμενος (having put) ἐν (into) ἡμῖν (us) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τῆς (-) καταλλαγῆς (of reconciliation). ²⁰ Ὑπὲρ (For) Χριστοῦ (Christ) οὖν (therefore) πρεσβεύομεν (we are ambassadors), ὡς (as though) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) παρακαλοῦντος (is beseeching) δι’ (through) ἡμῶν (us). δεόμεθα (We implore) ὑπὲρ (on behalf) Χριστοῦ (of Christ): καταλλάγητε (Be reconciled) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God).

¹⁶ εἰδότες (knowing) δὲ (nevertheless) ὅτι (that) οὐ (not) δικαιοῦται (is justified) ἄνθρωπος (a man) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) νόμου (of law), ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) διὰ (through) πίστεως (faith) Χριστοῦ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (from Jesus); καὶ (even) ἡμεῖς (we) εἰς (in) Χριστὸν (Christ) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἐπιστεύσαμεν (have believed), ἵνα (that) δικαιωθῶμεν (we may be justified) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith) Χριστοῦ (from Christ), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) νόμου (of the Law); ὅτι (because) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) νόμου (of the Law) οὐ (not) δικαιωθήσεται (will be justified) πᾶσα (any) σάρξ (flesh).

¹¹ ὅτι (That) δὲ (now) ἐν (by) νόμῳ (the law) οὐδεὶς (no one) δικαιοῦται (is justified) παρὰ (before) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God) δῆλον (is evident), ὅτι (because) “Ὁ (The) δίκαιος (righteous) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith) ζήσεται (will live).” ¹² ὁ (-) δὲ (And) νόμος (the Law) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἐκ (of) πίστεως (faith); ἀλλ’ (rather), “Ὁ (The one) ποιήσας (having done) αὐτὰ (these things) ζήσεται (will live) ἐν (by) αὐτοῖς (them).” ¹³ Χριστὸς (Christ) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐξηγόρασεν (redeemed) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) κατάρας (curse) τοῦ (of the) νόμου (Law), γενόμενος (having become) ὑπὲρ (for) ἡμῶν (us) κατάρα (a curse), ὅτι (for) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Ἐπικατάρατος (Cursed is) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) κρεμάμενος (hanging) ἐπὶ (on) ξύλου (a tree)” — ¹⁴ ἵνα (so that) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) ἡ (the) εὐλογία (blessing) τοῦ (-) Ἀβραὰμ (of Abraham) γένηται (might come), ἐν (in) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστῷ (Christ), ἵνα (so that) τὴν (the) ἐπαγγελίαν (promise) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) λάβωμεν (we might receive), διὰ (through) τῆς (-) πίστεως (faith).

²⁵ ἐλθούσης (Having come) δὲ (now) τῆς (-) πίστεως (faith), οὐκέτι (no longer) ὑπὸ (under) παιδαγωγόν (a trainer) ἐσμεν (we are).

⁴ κατηργήθητε (You are severed) ἀπὸ (from) Χριστοῦ (Christ), οἵτινες (whoever) ἐν (in) νόμῳ (the Law) δικαιοῦσθε (are being justified); τῆς (from) χάριτος (grace) ἐξεπέσατε (you have fallen away). ⁵ Ἡμεῖς (We) γὰρ (for), Πνεύματι (through the Spirit) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith), ἐλπίδα (the hope) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness) ἀπεκδεχόμεθα (eagerly await). ⁶ ἐν (In) γὰρ (for) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), οὔτε (neither) περιτομή (circumcision) τι (any) ἰσχύει (has power), οὔτε (nor) ἀκροβυστία (uncircumcision); ἀλλὰ (but only) πίστις (faith) δι’ (through) ἀγάπης (love) ἐνεργουμένη (working).

⁷ ἵνα (in order that) ἐνδείξηται (He might show) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) αἰῶσιν (ages) τοῖς (that) ἐπερχομένοις (are coming) τὸ (the) ὑπερβάλλον (surpassing) πλοῦτος (riches) τῆς (of the) χάριτος (grace) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) χρηστότητι (kindness) ἐφ’ (toward) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus).

¹⁴ Αὐτὸς (He Himself) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) εἰρήνη (peace) ἡμῶν (of us), ὁ (-) ποιήσας (having made) τὰ (-) ἀμφότερα (both) ἓν (one), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) μεσότοιχον (barrier) τοῦ (of the) φραγμοῦ (fence) λύσας (having broken down), τὴν (the) ἔχθραν (hostility), ¹⁵ ἐν (in) τῇ (the) σαρκὶ (flesh) αὐτοῦ (of Him), τὸν (the) νόμον (law) τῶν (-) ἐντολῶν (of commandments) ἐν (in) δόγμασιν (ordinances) καταργήσας (having annulled), ἵνα (so that) τοὺς (the) δύο (two) κτίσῃ (He might create) ἐν (in) αὑτῷ (Himself) εἰς (into) ἕνα (one) καινὸν (new) ἄνθρωπον (man), ποιῶν (making) εἰρήνην (peace); ¹⁶ καὶ (and) ἀποκαταλλάξῃ (He might reconcile) τοὺς (-) ἀμφοτέρους (both) ἐν (in) ἑνὶ (one) σώματι (body) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) σταυροῦ (cross), ἀποκτείνας (having slain) τὴν (the) ἔχθραν (hostility) ἐν (by) αὐτῷ (it). ¹⁷ Καὶ (And) ἐλθὼν (having come), εὐηγγελίσατο (He proclaimed the gospel): εἰρήνην (peace) ὑμῖν (to you), τοῖς (the ones) μακρὰν (far off), καὶ (and) εἰρήνην (peace) τοῖς (to those) ἐγγύς (near).

⁹ καὶ (and) εὑρεθῶ (be found) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him), μὴ (not) ἔχων (having) ἐμὴν (my own) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness), τὴν (which is) ἐκ (of) νόμου (the Law), ἀλλὰ (but) τὴν (that) διὰ (through) πίστεως (faith) Χριστοῦ (from Christ), τὴν (the) ἐκ (of) Θεοῦ (God) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness) ἐπὶ (on the basis of) τῇ (-) πίστει (faith),

²⁰ καὶ (and) δι’ (by) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἀποκαταλλάξαι (to reconcile) τὰ (-) πάντα (all things) εἰς (to) αὐτόν (Himself), εἰρηνοποιήσας (having made peace) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τοῦ (of the) σταυροῦ (cross) αὐτοῦ (of Him), δι’ (through) αὐτοῦ (Him), εἴτε (whether) τὰ (the things) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), εἴτε (or) τὰ (the things) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens).

¹⁵ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) εἰρήνη (peace) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (from Christ) βραβευέτω (let rule) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) καρδίαις (hearts) ὑμῶν (of you), εἰς (to) ἣν (which) καὶ (also) ἐκλήθητε (you were called) ἐν (in) ἑνὶ (one) σώματι (body). καὶ (And) εὐχάριστοι (thankful) γίνεσθε (be).

²³ Αὐτὸς (Himself) δὲ (now), ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) τῆς (-) εἰρήνης (of peace) ἁγιάσαι (may sanctify) ὑμᾶς (you) ὁλοτελεῖς (completely); καὶ (and) ὁλόκληρον (entirely) ὑμῶν (your) τὸ (-) πνεῦμα (spirit) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) ψυχὴ (soul) καὶ (and) τὸ (-) σῶμα (body), ἀμέμπτως (blameless) ἐν (at) τῇ (the) παρουσίᾳ (coming) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), τηρηθείη (may be preserved).

¹⁶ Αὐτὸς (Himself) δὲ (now) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) τῆς (-) εἰρήνης (of peace) δῴη (may give) ὑμῖν (you) τὴν (-) εἰρήνην (peace) διὰ (through) παντὸς (all), ἐν (in) παντὶ (every) τρόπῳ (way). ὁ (The) Κύριος (Lord be) μετὰ (with) πάντων (all) ὑμῶν (of you).

²⁰ Ὁ (May the) δὲ (now) Θεὸς (God) τῆς (-) εἰρήνης (of peace), ὁ (-) ἀναγαγὼν (having brought) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead) τὸν (the) ποιμένα (Shepherd) τῶν (of the) προβάτων (sheep) τὸν (-) μέγαν (great), ἐν (by) αἵματι (the blood) διαθήκης (of the covenant) αἰωνίου (eternal), τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus),

²³ καὶ (And) ἐπληρώθη (was fulfilled) ἡ (the) γραφὴ (Scripture) ἡ (-) λέγουσα (saying), “Ἐπίστευσεν (Believed) δὲ (then) Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), καὶ (and) ἐλογίσθη (it was counted) αὐτῷ (to him) εἰς (for) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness),” καὶ (and) φίλος (a friend) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐκλήθη (he was called). ²⁴ ὁρᾶτε (You see) ὅτι (that) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) δικαιοῦται (is justified) ἄνθρωπος (a man), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith) μόνον (alone). ²⁵ Ὁμοίως (Likewise) δὲ (then) καὶ (also) Ῥαὰβ (Rahab) ἡ (the) πόρνη (prostitute) οὐκ (not) ἐξ (by) ἔργων (works) ἐδικαιώθη (was justified), ὑποδεξαμένη (having received) τοὺς (the) ἀγγέλους (messengers) καὶ (and) ἑτέρᾳ (by another) ὁδῷ (way) ἐκβαλοῦσα (having sent them forth)? ²⁶ ὥσπερ (Just as) γὰρ (for) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body) χωρὶς (apart from) πνεύματος (spirit) νεκρόν (dead) ἐστιν (is), οὕτως (so) καὶ (also) ἡ (-) πίστις (faith) χωρὶς (apart from) ἔργων (works) νεκρά (dead) ἐστιν (is).
