⁸ Λέγω (I say) δὲ (now) ὑμῖν (to you), πᾶς (everyone) ὃς (who) ἂν (-) ὁμολογήσῃ (will confess) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (Me) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (the) ἀνθρώπων (men), καὶ (also) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ὁμολογήσει (will confess) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (the) ἀγγέλων (angels) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God);

³³ καθὼς (as) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Ἰδοὺ (Behold) τίθημι (I lay) ἐν (in) Σιὼν (Zion) λίθον (a stone) προσκόμματος (of stumbling), καὶ (and) πέτραν (a rock) σκανδάλου (of offense); καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) πιστεύων (believing) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτῷ (Him), οὐ (never) καταισχυνθήσεται (will be put to shame).”

²² Ἀλλὰ (But) προσεληλύθατε (you have come to) Σιὼν (Zion) ὄρει (Mount), καὶ (and) πόλει (the city) Θεοῦ (of God) ζῶντος (the living), Ἰερουσαλὴμ (the Jerusalem) ἐπουρανίῳ (heavenly), καὶ (and) μυριάσιν (to myriads) ἀγγέλων (of angels), ²³ πανηγύρει (to the assembly), καὶ (and) ἐκκλησίᾳ (to the church) πρωτοτόκων (of the firstborn) ἀπογεγραμμένων (having been enrolled) ἐν (in) οὐρανοῖς (the heavens), καὶ (and) Κριτῇ (to the judge) Θεῷ (God) πάντων (of all), καὶ (and) πνεύμασι (to the spirits) δικαίων (of the righteous) τετελειωμένων (having been perfected), ²⁴ καὶ (and) διαθήκης (of a covenant) νέας (new) μεσίτῃ (the mediator), Ἰησοῦ (to Jesus), καὶ (and) αἵματι (to the blood) ῥαντισμοῦ (of sprinkling) κρεῖττον (better things) λαλοῦντι (speaking) παρὰ (than) τὸν (that of) Ἅβελ (Abel).

¹² Ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming), ποιήσω (I will make) αὐτὸν (him) στῦλον (a pillar) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) ἔξω (out) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἐξέλθῃ (shall he go) ἔτι (anymore). καὶ (And) γράψω (I will write) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (him) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τῆς (of the) πόλεως (city) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), τῆς (the) καινῆς (new) Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem), ἡ (-) καταβαίνουσα (coming down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me) τὸ (-) καινόν (new).

¹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), θύρα (a door) ἠνεῳγμένη (was standing open) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) φωνὴ (voice) ἡ (-) πρώτη (first) ἣν (that) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὡς (like) σάλπιγγος (a trumpet) λαλούσης (was speaking) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (me), λέγων (saying), “Ἀνάβα (Come up) ὧδε (here), καὶ (and) δείξω (I will show) σοι (to you) ἃ (what) δεῖ (it behooves) γενέσθαι (to take place) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these things).”

⁵ Καὶ (And) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders) λέγει (says) μοι (to me), “Μὴ (Not) κλαῖε (do weep). ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἐνίκησεν (has overcome) ὁ (the) Λέων (Lion) ὁ (-) ἐκ (of) τῆς (the) φυλῆς (tribe) Ἰούδα (of Judah), ἡ (the) Ῥίζα (root) Δαυίδ (of David), ἀνοῖξαι (to open) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) σφραγῖδας (seals) αὐτοῦ (of it).” ⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τοῦ (of the) θρόνου (throne) καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τῶν (of the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), Ἀρνίον (a Lamb) ἑστηκὸς (standing) ὡς (as) ἐσφαγμένον (having been slain), ἔχων (having) κέρατα (horns) ἑπτὰ (seven) καὶ (and) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) ἑπτά (seven), οἵ (which) εἰσιν (are) τὰ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) Πνεύματα (Spirits) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἀπεσταλμένοι (having been sent out) εἰς (into) πᾶσαν (all) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth). ⁷ καὶ (And) ἦλθεν (He came) καὶ (and) εἴληφεν (took it) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) δεξιᾶς (right hand) τοῦ (of the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne). ⁸ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἔλαβεν (He had taken) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἔπεσαν (fell down) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), ἔχοντες (having) ἕκαστος (each) κιθάραν (a harp) καὶ (and) φιάλας (bowls) χρυσᾶς (golden) γεμούσας (being full) θυμιαμάτων (of incenses), αἵ (which) εἰσιν (are) αἱ (the) προσευχαὶ (prayers) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints). ⁹ καὶ (And) ᾄδουσιν (they are singing) ᾠδὴν (a song) καινὴν (new), λέγοντες (saying), “Ἄξιος (Worthy) εἶ (are You) λαβεῖν (to take) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), καὶ (and) ἀνοῖξαι (to open) τὰς (the) σφραγῖδας (seals) αὐτοῦ (of it), ὅτι (because) ἐσφάγης (You were slain), καὶ (and) ἠγόρασας (You purchased) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) ἐν (by) τῷ (the) αἵματί (blood) σου (of You), ἐκ (out of) πάσης (every) φυλῆς (tribe) καὶ (and) γλώσσης (tongue) καὶ (and) λαοῦ (people) καὶ (and) ἔθνους (nation),

¹² λέγοντες (saying) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud): “Ἄξιόν* (Worthy) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) τὸ (-) ἐσφαγμένον (having been slain), λαβεῖν (to receive) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power) καὶ (and) πλοῦτον (riches) καὶ (and) σοφίαν (wisdom) καὶ (and) ἰσχὺν (strength) καὶ (and) τιμὴν (honor) καὶ (and) δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) εὐλογίαν (blessing)!” ¹³ Καὶ (And) πᾶν (every) κτίσμα (creature) ὃ (which) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ὑποκάτω (under) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea) 〈ἐστίν〉 (is), καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them) πάντα (everything), ἤκουσα (I heard) λέγοντας (saying): “Τῷ (To the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb), ἡ (-) εὐλογία (blessing) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) τιμὴ (honor) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δόξα (glory) καὶ (and) τὸ (-) κράτος (might) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).”

⁸ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἵππος (a horse) χλωρός (pale), καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπάνω (on) αὐτοῦ (it), ὄνομα (the name) αὐτῷ (of him was) Ὁ (-) Θάνατος (Death), καὶ (and) ὁ (-) ᾅδης (Hades) ἠκολούθει (was following) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him); καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἐξουσία (authority) ἐπὶ (over) τὸ (the) τέταρτον (fourth) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), ἀποκτεῖναι (to kill) ἐν (with) ῥομφαίᾳ (sword), καὶ (and) ἐν (with) λιμῷ (famine), καὶ (and) ἐν (with) θανάτῳ (plague), καὶ (and) ὑπὸ (by) τῶν (the) θηρίων (beasts) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth).

³ λέγων (saying), “Μὴ (Not) ἀδικήσητε (harm) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), μήτε (nor) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea), μήτε (nor) τὰ (the) δένδρα (trees), ἄχρι (until) σφραγίσωμεν (we shall have sealed) τοὺς (the) δούλους (servants) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) μετώπων (foreheads) αὐτῶν (of them).” ⁴ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) τὸν (the) ἀριθμὸν (number) τῶν (of those) ἐσφραγισμένων (having been sealed), ἑκατὸν (one hundred) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) τέσσαρες (four) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἐσφραγισμένοι (having been sealed) ἐκ (out of) πάσης (every) φυλῆς (tribe) υἱῶν (of the sons) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel): ⁵ Ἐκ (Out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Ἰούδα (of Judah) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand) ἐσφραγισμένοι (having been sealed), ἐκ (out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Ῥουβὴν (of Reuben) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἐκ (out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Γὰδ (of Gad) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand), ⁶ Ἐκ (out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Ἀσὴρ (of Asher) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἐκ (out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Νεφθαλὶμ (of Naphtali) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἐκ (out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Μανασσῆ (of Manasseh) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand), ⁷ Ἐκ (out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Συμεὼν (of Simeon) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἐκ (out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Λευὶ (of Levi) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἐκ (out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Ἰσσαχὰρ (of Isaachar) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand), ⁸ Ἐκ (out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Ζαβουλὼν (of Zebulun) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἐκ (out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Ἰωσὴφ (of Joseph) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἐκ (out of) φυλῆς (the tribe) Βενιαμὶν (of Benjamin) δώδεκα (twelve) χιλιάδες (thousand) ἐσφραγισμένοι (having been sealed). ⁹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ὄχλος (a multitude) πολύς (great), ὃν (which) ἀριθμῆσαι (to number) αὐτὸν (it) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐδύνατο (was able), ἐκ (out of) παντὸς (every) ἔθνους (nation), καὶ (and) φυλῶν (tribes), καὶ (and) λαῶν (peoples), καὶ (and) γλωσσῶν (tongues), ἑστῶτες (standing) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) καὶ (and) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), περιβεβλημένους (having been clothed with) στολὰς (robes) λευκάς (white), καὶ (and) φοίνικες (palm branches) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) χερσὶν (hands) αὐτῶν (of them). ¹⁰ καὶ (And) κράζουσιν (they were crying out) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἡ (-) σωτηρία (Salvation) τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), τῷ (the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb)!” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) πάντες (all) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) εἱστήκεισαν (stood) κύκλῳ (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) ἔπεσαν (they fell) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (faces) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), ¹² λέγοντες (saying), “Ἀμήν (Amen)! ἡ (-) εὐλογία (Blessing), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δόξα (glory), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) σοφία (wisdom), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) εὐχαριστία (thanksgiving), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) τιμὴ (honor), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δύναμις (power), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) ἰσχὺς (strength), τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages)! ἀμήν (Amen).” ¹³ Καὶ (And) ἀπεκρίθη (answered) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), λέγων (saying) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (-) περιβεβλημένοι (having been clothed with) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) τὰς (-) λευκὰς (white), τίνες (who) εἰσὶν (are they), καὶ (and) πόθεν (from where) ἦλθον (have they come)?” ¹⁴ Καὶ (And) εἴρηκα (I said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Κύριέ (Lord) μου (of me), σὺ (you) οἶδας (know).” Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (he said) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (the ones) ἐρχόμενοι (coming) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θλίψεως (tribulation) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great), καὶ (and) ἔπλυναν (they have washed) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ἐλεύκαναν (made white) αὐτὰς (them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb). ¹⁵ διὰ (Because of) τοῦτό (this), ‘Εἰσιν (They are) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) λατρεύουσιν (serve) αὐτῷ (Him) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτὸς (night) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) σκηνώσει (will tabernacle) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτούς (them). ¹⁶ οὐ (Not) πεινάσουσιν (they will hunger) ἔτι (any more), οὐδὲ (neither) διψήσουσιν (will they thirst) ἔτι (anymore), οὐδὲ (nor) μὴ (at all) πέσῃ (shall fall) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτοὺς (them) ὁ (the) ἥλιος (sun), οὐδὲ (nor) πᾶν (any) καῦμα (scorching heat); ¹⁷ ὅτι (because) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) τὸ (-) ἀνὰ (in the) μέσον (center) τοῦ (of the) θρόνου (throne) ποιμανεῖ (will shepherd) αὐτούς (them), καὶ (and) ὁδηγήσει (He will lead) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐπὶ (to) ζωῆς (living) πηγὰς (fountains) ὑδάτων (of waters), καὶ (and) ἐξαλείψει (will wipe away) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) πᾶν (every) δάκρυον (tear) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) αὐτῶν (of them).’”

¹⁶ Καὶ (And) ποιεῖ (it causes) πάντας (all) τοὺς (the) μικροὺς (small) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) μεγάλους (great), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πλουσίους (rich) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πτωχούς (poor), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) ἐλευθέρους (free) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) δούλους (servants), ἵνα (that) δῶσιν (it should give) αὐτοῖς (them) χάραγμα (a mark) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) χειρὸς (hand) αὐτῶν (of them) τῆς (-) δεξιᾶς (right), ἢ (or) ἐπὶ (on) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead) αὐτῶν (of them), ¹⁷ καὶ (and) ἵνα (that) μή (no) τις (one) δύνηται (should be able) ἀγοράσαι (to buy) ἢ (or) πωλῆσαι (to sell), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) ἔχων (having) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) — τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), ἢ (or) τὸν (the) ἀριθμὸν (number) τοῦ (of the) ὀνόματος (name) αὐτοῦ (of it).

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), νεφέλη (a cloud) λευκή (white), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) νεφέλην (cloud) καθήμενον (is sitting One) ὅμοιον (like) υἱὸν (the Son) ἀνθρώπου (of Man), ἔχων (having) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) κεφαλῆς (head) αὐτοῦ (of Him) στέφανον (a crown) χρυσοῦν (golden), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) χειρὶ (hand) αὐτοῦ (of Him) δρέπανον (a sickle) ὀξύ (sharp).

⁵ Καὶ (And) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these things) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἠνοίγη (was opened) ὁ (the) ναὸς (temple) τῆς (of the) σκηνῆς (tabernacle) τοῦ (of the) μαρτυρίου (testimony) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven).
