⁴¹ γρηγορεῖτε (Watch) καὶ (and) προσεύχεσθε (pray), ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) εἰσέλθητε (you enter) εἰς (into) πειρασμόν (temptation). τὸ (The) μὲν (indeed) πνεῦμα (spirit) πρόθυμον (is willing), ἡ (-) δὲ (but) σὰρξ (the flesh) ἀσθενής (weak).”

¹³ πειρασμὸς (Temptation) ὑμᾶς (you) οὐκ (not) εἴληφεν (has seized), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ἀνθρώπινος (what is common to man); πιστὸς (faithful) δὲ (now) ὁ (-) Θεός (is God), ὃς (who) οὐκ (not) ἐάσει (will allow) ὑμᾶς (you) πειρασθῆναι (to be tempted) ὑπὲρ (beyond) ὃ (what) δύνασθε (you are able), ἀλλὰ (but) ποιήσει (will provide), σὺν (with) τῷ (the) πειρασμῷ (temptation), καὶ (also) τὴν (the) ἔκβασιν (escape), τοῦ (-) δύνασθαι (to be able) ὑπενεγκεῖν (to endure it).

¹⁶ ἐπεὶ (Otherwise) ἐὰν (if) εὐλογῇς (you bless) [ἐν] (with the) πνεύματι (spirit), ὁ (the one) ἀναπληρῶν (filling) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) τοῦ (of the) ἰδιώτου (uninstructed), πῶς (how) ἐρεῖ (will he say) τὸ (the) “Ἀμήν (Amen)” ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (-) σῇ (your) εὐχαριστίᾳ (thanksgiving), ἐπειδὴ (since) τί (what) λέγεις (you say) οὐκ (not) οἶδεν (he knows)?

²⁰ ὅσαι (As many as) γὰρ (for) ἐπαγγελίαι (promises) Θεοῦ (of God there are), ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him) τὸ (is the) “Ναί (Yes).” διὸ (Therefore) καὶ (also) δι’ (in) αὐτοῦ (Him) τὸ (the) “Ἀμὴν (Amen)” τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) πρὸς (is for) δόξαν (glory) δι’ (by) ἡμῶν (us).

⁷ καὶ (and) τῇ (the) ὑπερβολῇ (surpassingness) τῶν (of the) ἀποκαλύψεων (revelations). Διὸ (Therefore) ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) ὑπεραίρωμαι (I should become conceited), ἐδόθη (was given) μοι (to me) σκόλοψ (a thorn) τῇ (in my) σαρκί (flesh), ἄγγελος (a messenger) Σατανᾶ (of Satan), ἵνα (that) με (me) κολαφίζῃ (he might buffet), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) ὑπεραίρωμαι (I should become conceited). ⁸ ὑπὲρ (For) τούτου (this), τρὶς (three times) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) παρεκάλεσα (I begged), ἵνα (that) ἀποστῇ (it might depart) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (me). ⁹ καὶ (And) εἴρηκέν (He said) μοι (to me), “Ἀρκεῖ (Suffices) σοι (you) ἡ (the) χάρις (grace) μου (of Me); ἡ (the) γὰρ (for) δύναμις (power) ἐν (in) ἀσθενείᾳ (weakness) τελεῖται (is perfected).” Ἥδιστα (Most gladly) οὖν (therefore) μᾶλλον (rather) καυχήσομαι (will I boast) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἀσθενείαις (weaknesses) ‹μου› (of me), ἵνα (so that) ἐπισκηνώσῃ (may rest) ἐπ’ (upon) ἐμὲ (me) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ).

⁴ τοῦ (the One) δόντος (having given) ἑαυτὸν (Himself) ὑπὲρ (for) τῶν (the) ἁμαρτιῶν (sins) ἡμῶν (of us), ὅπως (so that) ἐξέληται (He might deliver) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) αἰῶνος (age) τοῦ (of) ἐνεστῶτος (having come presently) πονηροῦ (evil), κατὰ (according to) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) καὶ (and) Πατρὸς (Father) ἡμῶν (of us),

¹⁰ καὶ (and) ἀναμένειν (to await) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) οὐρανῶν (heavens), ὃν (whom) ἤγειρεν (He raised) ἐκ (out from) τῶν (the) νεκρῶν (dead), Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), τὸν (the one) ῥυόμενον (delivering) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) ὀργῆς (wrath) τῆς (-) ἐρχομένης (coming).

³ Πιστὸς (Faithful) δέ (however) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord), ὃς (who) στηρίξει (will strengthen) ὑμᾶς (you) καὶ (and) φυλάξει (will keep you) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) πονηροῦ (evil).

¹⁷ Τῷ (To) δὲ (now) Βασιλεῖ (the King) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), ἀφθάρτῳ (the immortal), ἀοράτῳ (invisible), μόνῳ (only) Θεῷ (God), τιμὴ (be honor) καὶ (and) δόξα (glory), εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages). ἀμήν (Amen).

³⁶ ἕτεροι (Others) δὲ (then) ἐμπαιγμῶν (of mockings) καὶ (and) μαστίγων (of scourgings), πεῖραν (trial) ἔλαβον (received); ἔτι (in addition), δὲ (also) δεσμῶν (of chains) καὶ (and) φυλακῆς (imprisonment).

⁸ Νήψατε (Be sober-minded); γρηγορήσατε (watch). ὁ (The) ἀντίδικος (adversary) ὑμῶν (of You), διάβολος (the devil), ὡς (as) λέων (a lion) ὠρυόμενος (roaring) περιπατεῖ (prowls about), ζητῶν (seeking) τινα (whom) καταπιεῖν (to devour),

⁹ οἶδεν (then knows) Κύριος (the Lord) εὐσεβεῖς (the devout) ἐκ (out of) πειρασμοῦ (temptation) ῥύεσθαι (to deliver); ἀδίκους (the unrighteous) δὲ (then) εἰς (unto) ἡμέραν (the day) κρίσεως (of judgment) κολαζομένους (being punished) τηρεῖν (to keep);

⁸ ὁ (The one) ποιῶν (practicing) τὴν (-) ἁμαρτίαν (sin), ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) διαβόλου (devil) ἐστίν (is), ὅτι (because) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) ἁμαρτάνει (has been sinning). εἰς (For) τοῦτο (this reason) ἐφανερώθη (was revealed) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἵνα (so that) λύσῃ (He might destroy) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) τοῦ (of the) διαβόλου (devil).

¹⁸ Οἴδαμεν (We know) ὅτι (that) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) γεγεννημένος (having been born) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) οὐχ (not) ἁμαρτάνει (continues to sin), ἀλλ’ (but) ὁ (the One) γεννηθεὶς (having been begotten) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) τηρεῖ (protects) αὐτόν (him), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) πονηρὸς (evil one) οὐχ (not) ἅπτεται (does touch) αὐτοῦ (him). ¹⁹ οἴδαμεν (We know) ὅτι (that) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) ἐσμεν (we are), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) ὅλος (whole), ἐν (in) τῷ (the) πονηρῷ (evil one) κεῖται (lies).

¹⁰ Μηδὲν* (Not) φοβοῦ (fear) ἃ (what) μέλλεις (you are about) πάσχειν (to suffer). ἰδοὺ (Behold), μέλλει (is about) βάλλειν (to cast) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil) ἐξ (some of) ὑμῶν (you) εἰς (into) φυλακὴν (prison), ἵνα (so that) πειρασθῆτε (you might be tested); καὶ (and) ἕξετε (you shall have) θλῖψιν (tribulation) ἡμερῶν (days) δέκα (ten). γίνου (Be) πιστὸς (faithful) ἄχρι (unto) θανάτου (death), καὶ (and) δώσω (I will give) σοι (to you) τὸν (the) στέφανον (crown) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life).

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) εἴρηκα (I said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Κύριέ (Lord) μου (of me), σὺ (you) οἶδας (know).” Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (he said) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (the ones) ἐρχόμενοι (coming) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θλίψεως (tribulation) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great), καὶ (and) ἔπλυναν (they have washed) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ἐλεύκαναν (made white) αὐτὰς (them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb). ¹⁵ διὰ (Because of) τοῦτό (this), ‘Εἰσιν (They are) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) λατρεύουσιν (serve) αὐτῷ (Him) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτὸς (night) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) σκηνώσει (will tabernacle) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτούς (them). ¹⁶ οὐ (Not) πεινάσουσιν (they will hunger) ἔτι (any more), οὐδὲ (neither) διψήσουσιν (will they thirst) ἔτι (anymore), οὐδὲ (nor) μὴ (at all) πέσῃ (shall fall) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτοὺς (them) ὁ (the) ἥλιος (sun), οὐδὲ (nor) πᾶν (any) καῦμα (scorching heat); ¹⁷ ὅτι (because) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) τὸ (-) ἀνὰ (in the) μέσον (center) τοῦ (of the) θρόνου (throne) ποιμανεῖ (will shepherd) αὐτούς (them), καὶ (and) ὁδηγήσει (He will lead) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐπὶ (to) ζωῆς (living) πηγὰς (fountains) ὑδάτων (of waters), καὶ (and) ἐξαλείψει (will wipe away) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) πᾶν (every) δάκρυον (tear) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) αὐτῶν (of them).’”

¹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὡς (something like) φωνὴν (a voice) μεγάλην (loud) ὄχλου (of a multitude) πολλοῦ (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λεγόντων (crying out): “Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)! ἡ (The) σωτηρία (salvation) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δόξα (glory) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power) τοῦ (to the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us)!

⁴ Καὶ (And) ἔπεσαν (fell down) οἱ (the) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) οἱ (-) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures), καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), τῷ (the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἀμήν (Amen), Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)!”

⁴ καὶ (And) ἐξαλείψει (He will wipe away) πᾶν (every) δάκρυον (tear) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ὁ (-) θάνατος (death) οὐκ (not) ἔσται (will be) ἔτι (any longer) οὔτε (nor) πένθος (mourning) οὔτε (nor) κραυγὴ (crying) οὔτε (nor) πόνος (pain); οὐκ (not) ἔσται (they will be) ἔτι (any longer), ὅτι (because) τὰ (the) πρῶτα (former things) ἀπῆλθαν (have passed away).”
