31 Σίμων (Simon), Σίμων (Simon), ἰδοὺ (Behold), ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan) ἐξῃτήσατο (demanded to have) ὑμᾶς (all of you) τοῦ (-) σινιάσαι (to sift) ὡς (like) τὸν (-) σῖτον (wheat);
32 ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however) ἐδεήθην (begged) περὶ (for) σοῦ (you), ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) ἐκλίπῃ (may fail) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) σου (of you); καὶ (and) σύ (you), ποτε (when) ἐπιστρέψας (you have turned back), στήρισον (strengthen) τοὺς (the) ἀδελφούς (brothers) σου (of you).”
33 Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (he said) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Κύριε (Lord), μετὰ (with) σοῦ (You) ἕτοιμός (ready) εἰμι (I am) καὶ (both) εἰς (to) φυλακὴν (prison) καὶ (and) εἰς (to) θάνατον (death) πορεύεσθαι (to go).”
34 Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (He said), “Λέγω (I tell) σοι (you) Πέτρε (Peter), οὐ (not) φωνήσει (will crow) σήμερον (today) ἀλέκτωρ (the rooster), ἕως (until) τρίς (three times) με (Me) ἀπαρνήσῃ (you will deny) 〈μὴ〉 (not) εἰδέναι (knowing).”
35 Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ὅτε (When) ἀπέστειλα (I sent) ὑμᾶς (you) ἄτερ (without) βαλλαντίου (purse) καὶ (and) πήρας (bag) καὶ (and) ὑποδημάτων (sandals), μή (not) τινος (anything) ὑστερήσατε (did you lack)?” Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπαν (they said), “Οὐθενός (Nothing).”
36 Εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (then) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἀλλὰ (But) νῦν (now) ὁ (the one) ἔχων (having) βαλλάντιον (a purse), ἀράτω (let him take it); ὁμοίως (likewise) καὶ (also) πήραν (a bag); καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) μὴ (not) ἔχων (having), πωλησάτω (let him sell) τὸ (the) ἱμάτιον (cloak) αὐτοῦ (of him) καὶ (and) ἀγορασάτω (buy one) μάχαιραν (a sword).
37 λέγω (I say) γὰρ (for) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) τοῦτο (this) τὸ (which) γεγραμμένον (has been written), δεῖ (it behooves) τελεσθῆναι (to be accomplished) ἐν (in) ἐμοί (Me): ‘Τό (-) Καὶ (And) μετὰ (with) ἀνόμων (the lawless) ἐλογίσθη (He was reckoned).’ καὶ (And) γὰρ (for) τὸ (the things) περὶ (concerning) ἐμοῦ (Me) τέλος (an end) ἔχει (have).”
38 Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπαν (they said), “Κύριε (Lord), ἰδοὺ (behold), μάχαιραι (swords) ὧδε (here are) δύο (two).” Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἱκανόν (Enough) ἐστιν (it is).”
39 Καὶ (And) ἐξελθὼν (having gone forth), ἐπορεύθη (He went) κατὰ (according to) τὸ (the) ἔθος (custom) εἰς (to) τὸ (the) ὄρος (Mount) τῶν (-) Ἐλαιῶν (of Olives); ἠκολούθησαν (followed) δὲ (then) αὐτῷ (Him) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) μαθηταί (disciples).
40 γενόμενος (Having come) δὲ (then) ἐπὶ (to) τοῦ (the) τόπου (place), εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Προσεύχεσθε (Pray) μὴ (not) εἰσελθεῖν (to enter) εἰς (into) πειρασμόν (temptation).”
41 Καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) ἀπεσπάσθη (withdrew) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτῶν (them) ὡσεὶ (about) λίθου (a stone’s) βολήν (throw), καὶ (and) θεὶς (having fallen on) τὰ (the) γόνατα (knees), προσηύχετο (He was praying),
42 λέγων (saying), “Πάτερ (Father), εἰ (if) βούλει (You are willing), παρένεγκε (take away) τοῦτο (this) τὸ (-) ποτήριον (cup) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (Me). πλὴν (Yet) μὴ (not) τὸ (the) θέλημά (will) μου (of Me), ἀλλὰ (but) τὸ (-) σὸν (of You) γινέσθω (be done).”
43 Ὤφθη (Appeared) δὲ (then) αὐτῷ (to Him) ἄγγελος (an angel) ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), ἐνισχύων (strengthening) αὐτόν (Him).
44 καὶ (And) γενόμενος (having been) ἐν (in) ἀγωνίᾳ (agony), ἐκτενέστερον (more earnestly) προσηύχετο (He was praying). καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (became) ὁ (the) ἱδρὼς (sweat) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὡσεὶ (like) θρόμβοι (great drops) αἵματος (of blood), καταβαίνοντες (falling down) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) γῆν (ground).
45 Καὶ (And) ἀναστὰς (having risen up) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) προσευχῆς (prayer), ἐλθὼν (having come) πρὸς (to) τοὺς (the) μαθητὰς (disciples), εὗρεν (He found) κοιμωμένους (sleeping) αὐτοὺς (them) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) λύπης (grief),
46 καὶ (and) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Τί (Why) καθεύδετε (are you sleeping)? ἀναστάντες (Having risen up) προσεύχεσθε (pray), ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) εἰσέλθητε (you might enter) εἰς (into) πειρασμόν (temptation).”
