¹³ Ὑμεῖς (You) ἐστε (are) τὸ (the) ἅλας (salt) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth); ἐὰν (if), δὲ (however), τὸ (the) ἅλας (salt) μωρανθῇ (becomes tasteless), ἐν (with) τίνι (what) ἁλισθήσεται (will it be salted). εἰς (For) οὐδὲν (nothing) ἰσχύει (it is potent) ἔτι (any longer), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) βληθὲν (having been cast) ἔξω (out), καταπατεῖσθαι (to be trampled upon) ὑπὸ (by) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (men).

⁴⁹ Πᾶς (Everyone) γὰρ (for) πυρὶ (with fire) ἁλισθήσεται (will be salted). ⁵⁰ καλὸν (Good is) τὸ (the) ἅλας (salt); ἐὰν (if) δὲ (however) τὸ (the) ἅλας (salt) ἄναλον (unsalty) γένηται (becomes), ἐν (with) τίνι (what) αὐτὸ (it) ἀρτύσετε (will you season)? ἔχετε (Have) ἐν (in) ἑαυτοῖς (yourselves) ἅλα (salt), καὶ (and) εἰρηνεύετε (be at peace) ἐν (with) ἀλλήλοις (one another).”

³⁴ Καλὸν (Good is) οὖν (therefore) τὸ (the) ἅλας (salt); ἐὰν (if) δὲ (however) καὶ (even) τὸ (the) ἅλας (salt) μωρανθῇ (becomes tasteless), ἐν (with) τίνι (what) ἀρτυθήσεται (will it be seasoned)? ³⁵ οὔτε (Neither) εἰς (for) γῆν (soil) οὔτε (nor) εἰς (for) κοπρίαν (manure) εὔθετόν (fit) ἐστιν (is it); ἔξω (out) βάλλουσιν (they cast) αὐτό (it). Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) ὦτα (ears) ἀκούειν (to hear), ἀκουέτω (let him hear).”

⁶ ὁ (-) λόγος (Let the speech) ὑμῶν (of you) πάντοτε (be always) ἐν (in) χάριτι (grace), ἅλατι (with salt) ἠρτυμένος (having been seasoned), εἰδέναι (to know) πῶς (how) δεῖ (it behooves) ὑμᾶς (you) ἑνὶ (one) ἑκάστῳ (each) ἀποκρίνεσθαι (to answer).

⁴ Ἀδύνατον (It is impossible) γὰρ (for) τοὺς (to those) ἅπαξ (once) φωτισθέντας (having been enlightened), γευσαμένους (having tasted) τε (then) τῆς (of the) δωρεᾶς (gift) τῆς (-) ἐπουρανίου (heavenly), καὶ (and) μετόχους (partakers) γενηθέντας (having become) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), ⁵ καὶ (and) καλὸν (the goodness) γευσαμένους (having tasted) Θεοῦ (of God’s) ῥῆμα (word), δυνάμεις (the power) τε (also) μέλλοντος (of the coming) αἰῶνος (age) — ⁶ καὶ (and then) παραπεσόντας (having fallen away) — πάλιν (again) ἀνακαινίζειν (to restore them) εἰς (to) μετάνοιαν (repentance), ἀνασταυροῦντας (crucifying) ἑαυτοῖς (in themselves) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) παραδειγματίζοντας (subjecting Him to open shame).

²⁰ Εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) ἀποφυγόντες (having escaped) τὰ (the) μιάσματα (pollutions) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world) ἐν (through) ἐπιγνώσει (the knowledge) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) καὶ (and) Σωτῆρος (Savior) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), τούτοις (in these) δὲ (now) πάλιν (again) ἐμπλακέντες (having been entangled) ἡττῶνται (they are subdued), γέγονεν (has become) αὐτοῖς (to them) τὰ (the) ἔσχατα (last state) χείρονα (worse) τῶν (than the) πρώτων (first). ²¹ κρεῖττον (Better) γὰρ (for) ἦν (it would have been) αὐτοῖς (for them) μὴ (not) ἐπεγνωκέναι (to have known) τὴν (the) ὁδὸν (way) τῆς (-) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness), ἢ (than) ἐπιγνοῦσιν (having known it), ὑποστρέψαι (to have turned) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) παραδοθείσης (having been delivered) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἁγίας (holy) ἐντολῆς (commandment).
