⁸ πάντα (All) δὲ (then) ταῦτα (these are) ἀρχὴ (the beginning) ὠδίνων (of birth pains).

³ ὅταν (For when) λέγωσιν (they might say), “Εἰρήνη (Peace) καὶ (and) ἀσφάλεια (security),” τότε (then) αἰφνίδιος (suddenly) αὐτοῖς (upon them) ἐφίσταται* (comes) ὄλεθρος (destruction), ὥσπερ (as) ἡ (the) ὠδὶν (labor pains) τῇ (to her) ἐν (in) γαστρὶ (womb) ἐχούσῃ (having); καὶ (and) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἐκφύγωσιν (shall they escape).

¹⁷ ὅτι (For it is) ὁ (the) καιρὸς (time for) τοῦ (-) ἄρξασθαι (to have begun) τὸ (the) κρίμα (judgment) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) οἴκου (house) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); εἰ (if) δὲ (now) πρῶτον (first) ἀφ’ (from) ἡμῶν (us), τί (what will be) τὸ (the) τέλος (outcome) τῶν (of those) ἀπειθούντων (disobeying) τῷ (the) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εὐαγγελίῳ (gospel)? ¹⁸ καὶ (And), “Εἰ (If) ὁ (the) δίκαιος (righteous one) μόλις (with difficulty) σώζεται (is saved), ὁ (the) ἀσεβὴς (ungodly) καὶ (and) ἁμαρτωλὸς (sinner) ποῦ (where) φανεῖται (will appear)?”
