⁶ μελλήσετε (You will begin) δὲ (then) ἀκούειν (to hear of) πολέμους (wars) καὶ (and) ἀκοὰς (rumors) πολέμων (of wars). ὁρᾶτε (Behold), μὴ (not) θροεῖσθε (be alarmed); δεῖ (it is necessary) γὰρ (for) γενέσθαι (to take place), ἀλλ’ (but) οὔπω (not yet) ἐστὶν (is) τὸ (the) τέλος (end).

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) κηρυχθήσεται (there will be proclaimed) τοῦτο (this) τὸ (-) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom) ἐν (in) ὅλῃ (all) τῇ (the) οἰκουμένῃ (earth), εἰς (for) μαρτύριον (a testimony) πᾶσιν (to all) τοῖς (the) ἔθνεσιν (nations); καὶ (and) τότε (then) ἥξει (will come) τὸ (the) τέλος (end).

⁵⁴ πῶς (How) οὖν (then) πληρωθῶσιν (should be fulfilled) αἱ (the) γραφαὶ (Scriptures), ὅτι (that) οὕτως (so) δεῖ (it must) γενέσθαι (be)?”

⁷ ὅταν (When) δὲ (then) ἀκούσητε (you shall hear of) πολέμους (wars) καὶ (and) ἀκοὰς (rumors) πολέμων (of wars), μὴ (not) θροεῖσθε (be disturbed); δεῖ (it must) γενέσθαι (come to pass), ἀλλ’ (but) οὔπω (not yet is) τὸ (the) τέλος (end). ⁸ ἐγερθήσεται (Will rise up) γὰρ (for) ἔθνος (nation) ἐπ’ (against) ἔθνος (nation), καὶ (and) βασιλεία (kingdom) ἐπὶ (against) βασιλείαν (kingdom). ἔσονται (There will be) σεισμοὶ (earthquakes) κατὰ (throughout) τόπους (places); ἔσονται (there will be) λιμοί (famines). ἀρχὴ (The beginning) ὠδίνων (of birth pains are) ταῦτα (these).

⁹ ὅταν (When) δὲ (then) ἀκούσητε (you should hear of) πολέμους (wars) καὶ (and) ἀκαταστασίας (commotions), μὴ (not) πτοηθῆτε (be terrified); δεῖ (it behooves) γὰρ (for) ταῦτα (these things) γενέσθαι (to take place) πρῶτον (first), ἀλλ’ (but) οὐκ (not) εὐθέως (immediately is) τὸ (the) τέλος (end).”

¹⁹ ἐν (By) τῇ (the) ὑπομονῇ (patient endurance) ὑμῶν (of you), κτήσασθε* (you will gain) τὰς (the) ψυχὰς (souls) ὑμῶν (of you).

³⁷ λέγω (I say) γὰρ (for) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) τοῦτο (this) τὸ (which) γεγραμμένον (has been written), δεῖ (it behooves) τελεσθῆναι (to be accomplished) ἐν (in) ἐμοί (Me): ‘Τό (-) Καὶ (And) μετὰ (with) ἀνόμων (the lawless) ἐλογίσθη (He was reckoned).’ καὶ (And) γὰρ (for) τὸ (the things) περὶ (concerning) ἐμοῦ (Me) τέλος (an end) ἔχει (have).”

¹ Μὴ (Not) ταρασσέσθω (let be troubled) ὑμῶν (of you) ἡ (the) καρδία (heart). πιστεύετε (You believe) εἰς (in) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), καὶ (also) εἰς (in) ἐμὲ (Me) πιστεύετε (believe).

²⁷ Εἰρήνην (Peace) ἀφίημι (I leave) ὑμῖν (with you); εἰρήνην (peace) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (My) δίδωμι (I give) ὑμῖν (to you); οὐ (not) καθὼς (as) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) δίδωσιν (gives), ἐγὼ (I) δίδωμι (give) ὑμῖν (to you). μὴ (Not) ταρασσέσθω (let be troubled) ὑμῶν (of you) ἡ (the) καρδία (heart), μηδὲ (nor) δειλιάτω (let it fear).

²⁴ λέγων (saying), ‘Μὴ (Not) φοβοῦ (fear), Παῦλε (Paul); Καίσαρί (Caesar) σε (you) δεῖ (it behooves) παραστῆναι (to stand before). καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), κεχάρισταί (has granted) σοι (to you) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) πλέοντας (sailing) μετὰ (with) σοῦ (you).’ ²⁵ Διὸ (Therefore) εὐθυμεῖτε (take courage), ἄνδρες (men); πιστεύω (I believe) γὰρ (for) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God) ὅτι (that) οὕτως (thus) ἔσται (it will be), καθ’ (according to) ὃν (the) τρόπον (way) λελάληταί (it has been said) μοι (to me). ²⁶ εἰς (Upon) νῆσον (an island) δέ (however) τινα (certain) δεῖ (it behooves) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐκπεσεῖν (to fall).”

¹⁴ Ἀλλ’ (But) εἰ (if) καὶ (even) πάσχοιτε (you should suffer) διὰ (because of) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness), μακάριοι (you are blessed). “Τὸν (-) δὲ (And) φόβον (the threats) αὐτῶν (of them) μὴ (not) φοβηθῆτε (you should be afraid of), μηδὲ (neither) ταραχθῆτε (should you be troubled).” ¹⁵ Κύριον (As Lord) δὲ (however), τὸν (-) Χριστὸν (Christ) ἁγιάσατε (sanctify) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) καρδίαις (hearts) ὑμῶν (of you), ἕτοιμοι (ready) ἀεὶ (always) πρὸς (for) ἀπολογίαν (a defense) παντὶ (to everyone) τῷ (-) αἰτοῦντι (asking) ὑμᾶς (you) λόγον (an account) περὶ (concerning) τῆς (the) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) ἐλπίδος (hope); ἀλλὰ (yet) μετὰ (with) πραΰτητος (gentleness) καὶ (and) φόβου (fear),
