⁴⁰ τότε (Then) ἔσονται (will be) δύο (two) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἀγρῷ (field): εἷς (one) παραλαμβάνεται (is taken), καὶ (and) εἷς (one) ἀφίεται (is left).

³⁴ λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ταύτῃ (in that) τῇ (-) νυκτὶ (night) ἔσονται (there will be) δύο (two) ἐπὶ (upon) κλίνης (bed) μιᾶς (one): ὁ (The) εἷς (one) παραλημφθήσεται (will be taken), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἕτερος (other) ἀφεθήσεται (will be left). ³⁵ ἔσονται (There will be) δύο (two women) ἀλήθουσαι (grinding) ἐπὶ (at) τὸ (the) αὐτό (same place): ἡ (The) μία (one) παραλημφθήσεται (will be taken), ἡ (-) δὲ (and) ἑτέρα (the other) ἀφεθήσεται (will be left).” ^{36 37} Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθέντες (answering), λέγουσιν (they say) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ποῦ (Where), Κύριε (Lord)?” Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ὅπου (Where) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body is), ἐκεῖ (there) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) ἀετοὶ (vultures) ἐπισυναχθήσονται (will be gathered together).”

³⁹ Εἷς (One) δὲ (now) τῶν (of the) κρεμασθέντων (having been hanged) κακούργων (criminals) ἐβλασφήμει (was railing at) αὐτόν (Him), ‹λέγων› (saying) “Οὐχὶ (Not) σὺ (you are) εἶ (if) ὁ (the) Χριστός (Christ)? σῶσον (Save) σεαυτὸν (Yourself) καὶ (and) ἡμᾶς (us)!” ⁴⁰ Ἀποκριθεὶς (Answering) δὲ (now), ὁ (the) ἕτερος (other) ἐπιτιμῶν (was rebuking) αὐτῷ (him), ἔφη (saying), “Οὐδὲ (Not even) φοβῇ (do fear) σὺ (you) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), ὅτι (that) ἐν (under) τῷ (the) αὐτῷ (same) κρίματι (judgment) εἶ (you are), ⁴¹ καὶ (and) ἡμεῖς (we) μὲν (indeed) δικαίως (justly)? ἄξια (Worthy) γὰρ (for) ὧν (of what) ἐπράξαμεν (we did) ἀπολαμβάνομεν (we are receiving); οὗτος (this man) δὲ (however) οὐδὲν (nothing) ἄτοπον (wrong) ἔπραξεν (did).” ⁴² καὶ (And) ἔλεγεν (he was saying), “Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), μνήσθητί (remember) μου (me) ὅταν (when) ἔλθῃς (You come) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom) σου (of You)!” ⁴³ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἀμήν (Truly) σοι (to you) λέγω (I say), σήμερον (today) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me) ἔσῃ (you will be) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) Παραδείσῳ (Paradise).”

⁷ τίς (Who) γάρ (for) σε (you) διακρίνει (makes different)? τί (What) δὲ (now) ἔχεις (have you) ὃ (which) οὐκ (not) ἔλαβες (you did receive)? εἰ (If) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) ἔλαβες (you did receive it), τί (why) καυχᾶσαι (boast you) ὡς (as) μὴ (not) λαβών (having received it)?

⁵ καὶ (and) ἀρχαίου (the ancient) κόσμου (world) οὐκ (not) ἐφείσατο (He spared), ἀλλὰ (but) ὄγδοον (one of eight), Νῶε (Noah) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness) κήρυκα (a herald) ἐφύλαξεν (preserved), κατακλυσμὸν (the flood upon) κόσμῳ (the world) ἀσεβῶν (of the ungodly) ἐπάξας (having brought in);

⁷ καὶ (and) δίκαιον (righteous) Λὼτ (Lot), καταπονούμενον (being distressed) ὑπὸ (by) τῆς (the) τῶν (of the) ἀθέσμων (lawless) ἐν (in) ἀσελγείᾳ (sensuality) ἀναστροφῆς (conduct), ἐρρύσατο (He rescued) — ⁸ βλέμματι (through seeing) γὰρ (for) καὶ (and) ἀκοῇ (hearing) ὁ (that) δίκαιος (righteous man), ἐνκατοικῶν (dwelling) ἐν (among) αὐτοῖς (them) ἡμέραν (day) ἐξ (after) ἡμέρας (day), ψυχὴν (in his soul) δικαίαν (righteous) ἀνόμοις (with their lawless) ἔργοις (deeds) ἐβασάνιζεν (was tormented) — ⁹ οἶδεν (then knows) Κύριος (the Lord) εὐσεβεῖς (the devout) ἐκ (out of) πειρασμοῦ (temptation) ῥύεσθαι (to deliver); ἀδίκους (the unrighteous) δὲ (then) εἰς (unto) ἡμέραν (the day) κρίσεως (of judgment) κολαζομένους (being punished) τηρεῖν (to keep);
