²⁹ Εὐθέως (Immediately) δὲ (then) μετὰ (after) τὴν (the) θλῖψιν (tribulation) τῶν (the) ἡμερῶν (days) ἐκείνων (of those): ‘Ὁ (The) ἥλιος (sun) σκοτισθήσεται (will be darkened), Καὶ (and) ἡ (the) σελήνη (moon) οὐ (not) δώσει (will give) τὸ (the) φέγγος (light) αὐτῆς (of it), Καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἀστέρες (stars) πεσοῦνται (will fall) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) οὐρανοῦ (sky), Καὶ (and) αἱ (the) δυνάμεις (powers) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens) σαλευθήσονται (will be shaken).’

⁸ πάντα (All) δὲ (then) ταῦτα (these are) ἀρχὴ (the beginning) ὠδίνων (of birth pains).

²¹ ἔσται (There will be) γὰρ (for) τότε (then) θλῖψις (tribulation) μεγάλη (great), οἵα (such as) οὐ (not) γέγονεν (has been) ἀπ’ (from the) ἀρχῆς (beginning) κόσμου (of the world) ἕως (until) τοῦ (-) νῦν (now), οὐδ’ (no) οὐ (never) μὴ (not) γένηται (shall be).

²⁴ Ἀλλὰ (But) ἐν (in) ἐκείναις (those) ταῖς (-) ἡμέραις (days), μετὰ (after) τὴν (the) θλῖψιν (tribulation) ἐκείνην (those), ‘Ὁ (The) ἥλιος (sun) σκοτισθήσεται (will be darkened), Καὶ (and) ἡ (the) σελήνη (moon) οὐ (not) δώσει (will give) τὸ (the) φέγγος (light) αὐτῆς (of it); ²⁵ Καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἀστέρες (stars) ἔσονται (will be) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) πίπτοντες (falling), Καὶ (and) αἱ (the) δυνάμεις (powers) αἱ (that are) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens) σαλευθήσονται (will be shaken).’

²⁵ Καὶ (And) ἔσονται (there will be) σημεῖα (signs) ἐν (in) ἡλίῳ (sun), καὶ (and) σελήνῃ (moon), καὶ (and) ἄστροις (stars); καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) συνοχὴ (distress) ἐθνῶν (of nations) ἐν (with) ἀπορίᾳ (perplexity), ἤχους (the roaring) θαλάσσης (of the sea) καὶ (and) σάλου (rolling surge), ²⁶ ἀποψυχόντων (fainting) ἀνθρώπων (men) ἀπὸ (from) φόβου (fear) καὶ (and) προσδοκίας (expectation) τῶν (of that which) ἐπερχομένων (is coming) τῇ (on the) οἰκουμένῃ (earth); αἱ (-) γὰρ (for) δυνάμεις (the powers) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens) σαλευθήσονται (will be shaken).

¹⁹ καὶ (and) δώσω (I will show) τέρατα (wonders) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven) ἄνω (above), καὶ (and) σημεῖα (signs) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) κάτω (below), αἷμα (blood) καὶ (and) πῦρ (fire) καὶ (and) ἀτμίδα (vapor) καπνοῦ (of smoke). ²⁰ ὁ (The) ἥλιος (sun) μεταστραφήσεται (will be turned) εἰς (into) σκότος (darkness), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) σελήνη (moon) εἰς (into) αἷμα (blood), πρὶν (before) ἐλθεῖν (coming) ἡμέραν (day) Κυρίου (of the Lord), τὴν (-) μεγάλην (great) καὶ (and) ἐπιφανῆ (glorious).

¹⁰ Ἥξει (Will come) δὲ (however) ἡμέρα (the day) Κυρίου (of the Lord) ὡς (like) κλέπτης (a thief), ἐν (in) ᾗ (which) οἱ (the) οὐρανοὶ (heavens) ῥοιζηδὸν (with a roar) παρελεύσονται (will pass away), στοιχεῖα (elements) δὲ (then) καυσούμενα (burning with heat) λυθήσεται (will be dissolved), καὶ (and) γῆ (the earth) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it) ἔργα (works) [οὐχ] (not) εὑρεθήσεται (will be found).

¹² Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ὅτε (when) ἤνοιξεν (He opened) τὴν (the) σφραγῖδα (seal) τὴν (-) ἕκτην (sixth), καὶ (and) σεισμὸς (an earthquake) μέγας (great) ἐγένετο (there was), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἥλιος (sun) ἐγένετο (became) μέλας (black) ὡς (as) σάκκος (sackcloth) τρίχινος (of hair), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) σελήνη (moon) ὅλη (whole) ἐγένετο (became) ὡς (like) αἷμα (blood), ¹³ καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἀστέρες (stars) τοῦ (of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἔπεσαν (fell) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), ὡς (as) συκῆ (a fig tree) βάλλει (casts) τοὺς (the) ὀλύνθους (unripe figs) αὐτῆς (of it), ὑπὸ (by) ἀνέμου (a wind) μεγάλου (great) σειομένη (being shaken). ¹⁴ καὶ (And) ὁ (-) οὐρανὸς (heaven) ἀπεχωρίσθη (departed) ὡς (like) βιβλίον (a scroll) ἑλισσόμενον (being rolled up), καὶ (and) πᾶν (every) ὄρος (mountain) καὶ (and) νῆσος (island) ἐκ (out of) τῶν (the) τόπων (places) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐκινήθησαν (were moved). ¹⁵ Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) μεγιστᾶνες (great ones), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) χιλίαρχοι (commanders), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πλούσιοι (rich), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἰσχυροὶ (powerful), καὶ (and) πᾶς (every) δοῦλος (slave) καὶ (and) ἐλεύθερος (free), ἔκρυψαν (hid) ἑαυτοὺς (themselves) εἰς (in) τὰ (the) σπήλαια (caves), καὶ (and) εἰς (among) τὰς (the) πέτρας (rocks) τῶν (of the) ὀρέων (mountains). ¹⁶ καὶ (And) λέγουσιν (they say) τοῖς (to the) ὄρεσιν (mountains) καὶ (and) ταῖς (to the) πέτραις (rocks), “Πέσετε (Fall) ἐφ’ (on) ἡμᾶς (us) καὶ (and) κρύψατε (hide) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀπὸ (from) προσώπου (the face) τοῦ (of the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ὀργῆς (wrath) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), ¹⁷ ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ἡ (the) ἡμέρα (day) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great) τῆς (of the) ὀργῆς (wrath) αὐτῶν (of Them), καὶ (and) τίς (who) δύναται (is able) σταθῆναι (to stand)?”

¹² Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) τέταρτος (fourth) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἐπλήγη (was struck) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τοῦ (of the) ἡλίου (sun), καὶ (and) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῆς (of the) σελήνης (moon), καὶ (and) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) τῶν (of the) ἀστέρων (stars), ἵνα (so that) σκοτισθῇ (should be darkened) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἡμέρα (day) μὴ (not) φάνῃ (should appear for) τὸ (a) τρίτον (third) αὐτῆς (of it), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) νὺξ (night) ὁμοίως (likewise).
