¹⁶ Ἔλαβεν (Seized) δὲ (then) φόβος (fear) πάντας (all), καὶ (and) ἐδόξαζον (they began glorifying) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), λέγοντες (saying) ὅτι (-), “Προφήτης (A prophet) μέγας (great) ἠγέρθη (has risen up) ἐν (among) ἡμῖν (us)!” καὶ (and) ὅτι (-), “Ἐπεσκέψατο (Has visited) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸν (the) λαὸν (people) αὐτοῦ (of Him)!”

⁸ Ἰδόντες (Having seen) δὲ (now), οἱ (the) ὄχλοι (crowds) ἐφοβήθησαν (marveled) καὶ (and) ἐδόξασαν (glorified) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), τὸν (the One) δόντα (having given) ἐξουσίαν (authority) τοιαύτην (such) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (to men).

³¹ ὥστε (so that) τὸν (the) ὄχλον (crowd) θαυμάσαι (marveled), βλέποντας (seeing) κωφοὺς (mute) λαλοῦντας (speaking), κυλλοὺς (crippled) ὑγιεῖς (restored), καὶ (and) χωλοὺς (lame) περιπατοῦντας (walking), καὶ (and) τυφλοὺς (blind) βλέποντας (seeing); καὶ (and) ἐδόξασαν (they glorified) τὸν (the) Θεὸν (God) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel).

¹¹ Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ὄχλοι (the crowds) ἔλεγον (were saying), “Οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) προφήτης (prophet), Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ὁ (the One) ἀπὸ (from) Ναζαρὲθ (Nazareth) τῆς (-) Γαλιλαίας (of Galilee).”

⁸ Καὶ (And) ἀπελθοῦσαι (having gone out) ταχὺ (quickly) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) μνημείου (tomb) μετὰ (with) φόβου (fear) καὶ (and) χαρᾶς (joy) μεγάλης (great), ἔδραμον (they ran) ἀπαγγεῖλαι (to tell) τοῖς (the) μαθηταῖς (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

⁶⁵ Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (came) ἐπὶ (upon) πάντας (all) φόβος (fear), τοὺς (those) περιοικοῦντας (dwelling around) αὐτούς (them); καὶ (and) ἐν (in) ὅλῃ (all) τῇ (the) ὀρεινῇ (hill country) τῆς (-) Ἰουδαίας (of Judea) διελαλεῖτο (were being talked about) πάντα (all) τὰ (the things), ῥήματα (words) ταῦτα (these).

⁶⁸ “Εὐλογητὸς (Blessed be) Κύριος (the Lord) ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) τοῦ (-) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel), ὅτι (because) ἐπεσκέψατο (He has visited) καὶ (and) ἐποίησεν (has performed) λύτρωσιν (redemption) τῷ (on the) λαῷ (people) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

²⁰ Καὶ (And) ὑπέστρεψαν (returned) οἱ (the) ποιμένες (shepherds), δοξάζοντες (glorifying) καὶ (and) αἰνοῦντες (praising) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐπὶ (for) πᾶσιν (all things) οἷς (which) ἤκουσαν (they had heard) καὶ (and) εἶδον (seen), καθὼς (as) ἐλαλήθη (it was said) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them).

⁸ Ἰδὼν (Having seen) δὲ (now), Σίμων (Simon) Πέτρος (Peter) προσέπεσεν (fell at) τοῖς (the) γόνασιν (knees) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus), λέγων (saying), “Ἔξελθε (Depart) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (me), ὅτι (for) ἀνὴρ (a man) ἁμαρτωλός (sinful) εἰμι (am I), Κύριε (Lord).”

²⁶ καὶ (And) ἔκστασις (amazement) ἔλαβεν (seized) ἅπαντας (all), καὶ (and) ἐδόξαζον (they were glorifying) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), καὶ (and) ἐπλήσθησαν (were filled) φόβου (with fear), λέγοντες (saying) ὅτι (-), “Εἴδομεν (We have seen) παράδοξα (remarkable things) σήμερον (today).”

³⁹ Ἰδὼν (Having seen) δὲ (now) ὁ (the) Φαρισαῖος (Pharisee), ὁ (the one) καλέσας (having invited) αὐτὸν (Him), εἶπεν (he spoke) ἐν (within) ἑαυτῷ (himself), λέγων (saying), “Οὗτος (This), εἰ (if) ἦν (He were) προφήτης (a prophet), ἐγίνωσκεν (would have known) ἂν (-) τίς (who) καὶ (and) ποταπὴ (what) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (woman is) ἥτις (who) ἅπτεται (touches) αὐτοῦ (Him), ὅτι (for) ἁμαρτωλός (a sinner) ἐστιν (she is).”

³⁷ Καὶ (And) ἠρώτησεν (asked) αὐτὸν (Him) ἅπαν (all) τὸ (the) πλῆθος (multitude) τῆς (of the) περιχώρου (surrounding region) τῶν (of the) Γερασηνῶν (Gerasenes) ἀπελθεῖν (to depart) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτῶν (them), ὅτι (because) φόβῳ (with fear) μεγάλῳ (great) συνείχοντο (they were seized). αὐτὸς (He) δὲ (now), ἐμβὰς (having entered) εἰς (into) πλοῖον (the boat), ὑπέστρεψεν (turned back).

¹⁹ Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ἀποκριθέντες (answering), εἶπαν (they said), “Ἰωάννην (John) τὸν (the) Βαπτιστήν (Baptist); ἄλλοι (others) δὲ (also), Ἠλίαν (Elijah); ἄλλοι (others) δὲ (now), ὅτι (that) προφήτης (a prophet), τις (one) τῶν (of the) ἀρχαίων (ancients), ἀνέστη (has arisen).”

⁴⁴ καὶ (and) ἐδαφιοῦσίν (will level to the ground) σε (you) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) σου (of you) ἐν (within) σοί (you), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἀφήσουσιν (will leave) λίθον (a stone) ἐπὶ (upon) λίθον (a stone) ἐν (within) σοί (you), ἀνθ’ (in place of) ὧν (which) οὐκ (not) ἔγνως (you knew) τὸν (the) καιρὸν (season) τῆς (the) ἐπισκοπῆς (of visitation) σου (of you).”

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ποῖα (What things)?” οἱ (-) Δὲ (And) εἶπαν (they said) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Τὰ (The things) περὶ (concerning) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) τοῦ (of) Ναζαρηνοῦ (Nazareth), ὃς (who) ἐγένετο (was) ἀνὴρ (a man), προφήτης (a prophet) δυνατὸς (mighty) ἐν (in) ἔργῳ (deed) καὶ (and) λόγῳ (word) ἐναντίον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) καὶ (and) παντὸς (all) τοῦ (the) λαοῦ (people);

²¹ Καὶ (And) ἠρώτησαν (they asked) αὐτόν (him), “Τί (What) οὖν (then)? σὺ (You) Ἠλίας (Elijah) εἶ (are)?” Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says), “Οὐκ (Not) εἰμί (I am).” “Ὁ (The) προφήτης (prophet) εἶ (are) σύ (you)?” Καὶ (And) ἀπεκρίθη (he answered), “Οὔ (No).”

²⁵ καὶ (And) ἠρώτησαν (they asked) αὐτὸν (him) καὶ (and) εἶπαν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Τί (Why) οὖν (then) βαπτίζεις (baptize you), εἰ (if) σὺ (you) οὐκ (not) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ), οὐδὲ (nor) Ἠλίας (Elijah), οὐδὲ (nor) ὁ (the) προφήτης (prophet)?”

¹⁹ Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to Him) ἡ (the) γυνή (woman), “Κύριε (Sir), θεωρῶ (I understand) ὅτι (that) προφήτης (a prophet) εἶ (are) σύ (You).

¹⁴ Οἱ (The) οὖν (therefore) ἄνθρωποι (people), ἰδόντες (having seen) ὃ (what) ἐποίησεν (He had done), σημεῖον (the sign), ἔλεγον (were saying) ὅτι (-), “Οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ἀληθῶς (truly) ὁ (the) προφήτης (prophet) ὁ (who) ἐρχόμενος (is coming) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world).”

⁴⁰ Ἐκ (Some of) τοῦ (the) ὄχλου (crowd) οὖν (therefore), ἀκούσαντες (having heard) τῶν (the) λόγων (words) τούτων (these), ἔλεγον (were saying) “Οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ἀληθῶς (truly) ὁ (the) προφήτης (Prophet).” ⁴¹ Ἄλλοι (Others) ἔλεγον (were saying), “Οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Χριστός (Christ).” Οἱ (Others) δὲ (however) ἔλεγον (were saying), “Μὴ (Not) γὰρ (indeed) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (-) Γαλιλαίας (Galilee) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἔρχεται (comes)?

¹⁷ λέγουσιν (They say) οὖν (therefore) τῷ (to the) τυφλῷ (blind man) πάλιν (again), “Τί (What) σὺ (you) λέγεις (say) περὶ (concerning) αὐτοῦ (Him), ὅτι (for) ἠνέῳξέν (He opened) σου (of you) τοὺς (the) ὀφθαλμούς (eyes)?” Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (he said) ὅτι (-), “Προφήτης (A prophet) ἐστίν (He is).”

²² Μωϋσῆς (Moses) μὲν (indeed) εἶπεν (said) ὅτι (-), ‘Προφήτην (A prophet) ὑμῖν (to you) ἀναστήσει (will raise up) Κύριος (the Lord) ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) [ὑμῶν] (of you) ἐκ (out from) τῶν (the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) ὑμῶν (of you), ὡς (like) ἐμέ (me); αὐτοῦ (Him) ἀκούσεσθε (You will listen to) κατὰ (in) πάντα (all things), ὅσα (as many as) ἂν (-) λαλήσῃ (He might say) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you). ²³ ἔσται (It will be that) δὲ (now) πᾶσα (every) ψυχὴ (soul) ἥτις (who), ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) ἀκούσῃ (might heed) τοῦ (the) προφήτου (prophet) ἐκείνου (that), ἐξολεθρευθήσεται (will be utterly destroyed) ἐκ (out from) τοῦ (the) λαοῦ (people).’

⁵ Ἀκούων (Hearing) δὲ (now) ὁ (-) Ἁνανίας (Ananias) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τούτους (these), πεσὼν (having fallen down), ἐξέψυξεν (he breathed his last). καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (came) φόβος (fear) μέγας (great) ἐπὶ (upon) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) ἀκούοντας (hearing).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (came) φόβος (fear) μέγας (great) ἐφ’ (upon) ὅλην (all) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church) καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) ἀκούοντας (hearing) ταῦτα (these things). ¹² Διὰ (By) δὲ (now) τῶν (the) χειρῶν (hands) τῶν (of the) ἀποστόλων (apostles) ἐγίνετο (were happening) σημεῖα (signs) καὶ (and) τέρατα (wonders) πολλὰ (many) ἐν (among) τῷ (the) λαῷ (people). καὶ (And) ἦσαν (they were) ὁμοθυμαδὸν (with one accord), ἅπαντες* (all) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) στοᾷ (Colonnade) Σολομῶντος (of Solomon); ¹³ τῶν (of the) δὲ (now) λοιπῶν (rest), οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐτόλμα (dared) κολλᾶσθαι (to join) αὐτοῖς (them), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐμεγάλυνεν (were magnifying) αὐτοὺς (them) ὁ (the) λαός (people);

³⁷ Οὗτός (This) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Μωϋσῆς (Moses) ὁ (-) εἴπας (having said) τοῖς (to the) υἱοῖς (sons) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel), ‘Προφήτην (A prophet) ὑμῖν (for you) ἀναστήσει (will raise up) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐκ (out from) τῶν (the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) ὑμῶν (of you), ὡς (like) ἐμέ (me).’
