¹ Ἐπειδὴ (And when) ἐπλήρωσεν (He had completed) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ῥήματα (words) αὐτοῦ (of Him) εἰς (in) τὰς (the) ἀκοὰς (hearing) τοῦ (of the) λαοῦ (people), εἰσῆλθεν (He entered) εἰς (into) Καφαρναούμ (Capernaum).

²⁸ Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass), ὅτε (when) ἐτέλεσεν (had finished) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τούτους (these), ἐξεπλήσσοντο (were astonished) οἱ (the) ὄχλοι (crowds) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) διδαχῇ (teaching) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ²⁹ ἦν (He was) γὰρ (for) διδάσκων (teaching) αὐτοὺς (them) ὡς (as) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἔχων (having), καὶ (and) οὐχ (not) ὡς (as) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes) αὐτῶν (of them).

⁵ Εἰσελθόντος (Having entered) δὲ (now) αὐτοῦ (He) εἰς (into) Καφαρναοὺμ (Capernaum), προσῆλθεν (came) αὐτῷ (to Him) ἑκατόνταρχος (a centurion), παρακαλῶν (imploring) αὐτὸν (Him), ⁶ καὶ (and) λέγων (saying), “Κύριε (Lord), ὁ (the) παῖς (servant) μου (of me) βέβληται (is lying) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) οἰκίᾳ (house), παραλυτικός (paralyzed), δεινῶς (grievously) βασανιζόμενος (tormented).” ⁷ ‹Καὶ› (And) λέγει (He says) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἐγὼ (I) ἐλθὼν (having come), θεραπεύσω (will heal) αὐτόν (him).” ⁸ Ἀποκριθεὶς (Answering) δὲ (however), ὁ (the) ἑκατόνταρχος (centurion) ἔφη (said), “Κύριε (Lord), οὐκ (not) εἰμὶ (I am) ἱκανὸς (worthy) ἵνα (that) μου (of me) ὑπὸ (under) τὴν (the) στέγην (roof) εἰσέλθῃς (You should come); ἀλλὰ (but) μόνον (only) εἰπὲ (speak) λόγῳ (the word), καὶ (and) ἰαθήσεται (will be healed) ὁ (the) παῖς (servant) μου (of me). ⁹ καὶ (Also) γὰρ (for) ἐγὼ (I) ἄνθρωπός (a man) εἰμι (am) ὑπὸ (under) ἐξουσίαν (authority), ἔχων (having) ὑπ’ (under) ἐμαυτὸν (me) στρατιώτας (soldiers); καὶ (and) λέγω (I say) τούτῳ (to this one), ‘Πορεύθητι (Go),’ καὶ (and) πορεύεται (he goes); καὶ (and) ἄλλῳ (to another), ‘Ἔρχου (Come),’ καὶ (and) ἔρχεται (he comes); καὶ (and) τῷ (to) δούλῳ (the servant) μου (of me), ‘Ποίησον (Do) τοῦτο (this),’ καὶ (and) ποιεῖ (he does it).” ¹⁰ Ἀκούσας (Having heard) δὲ (now), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐθαύμασεν (marveled), καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) τοῖς (to those) ἀκολουθοῦσιν (following), “Ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), παρ’ (except) οὐδενὶ (no one) τοσαύτην (so great) πίστιν (faith) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) Ἰσραὴλ (Israel) εὗρον (have I found). ¹¹ λέγω (I say) δὲ (now) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) πολλοὶ (many) ἀπὸ (from) ἀνατολῶν (east) καὶ (and) δυσμῶν (west) ἥξουσιν (will come), καὶ (and) ἀνακλιθήσονται (will recline) μετὰ (with) Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham) καὶ (and) Ἰσαὰκ (Isaac) καὶ (and) Ἰακὼβ (Jacob) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens); ¹² οἱ (the) δὲ (however) υἱοὶ (sons) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom) ἐκβληθήσονται (will be cast out), εἰς (into) τὸ (the) σκότος (darkness) τὸ (the) ἐξώτερον (outer), ἐκεῖ (there) ἔσται (will be) ὁ (the) κλαυθμὸς (weeping) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) βρυγμὸς (gnashing) τῶν (of the) ὀδόντων (teeth).” ¹³ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (said) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τῷ (to the) ἑκατοντάρχῃ (centurion), “Ὕπαγε (Go), ὡς (as) ἐπίστευσας (you have believed), γενηθήτω (be it) σοι (to you).” καὶ (And) ἰάθη (was healed) ὁ (the) παῖς (servant) [αὐτοῦ] (of him) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ὥρᾳ (hour) ἐκείνῃ (that).

¹ Ἐπειδὴ (And when) ἐπλήρωσεν (He had completed) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ῥήματα (words) αὐτοῦ (of Him) εἰς (in) τὰς (the) ἀκοὰς (hearing) τοῦ (of the) λαοῦ (people), εἰσῆλθεν (He entered) εἰς (into) Καφαρναούμ (Capernaum). ² Ἑκατοντάρχου (Of a centurion) δέ (then) τινος (a certain) δοῦλος (servant), κακῶς (sick) ἔχων (being), ἤμελλεν (was about) τελευτᾶν (to die), ὃς (who) ἦν (was) αὐτῷ (to him) ἔντιμος (valued highly). ³ ἀκούσας (Having heard) δὲ (then) περὶ (about) τοῦ (-) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), ἀπέστειλεν (he sent) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (Him) πρεσβυτέρους (elders) τῶν (of the) Ἰουδαίων (Jews), ἐρωτῶν (begging) αὐτὸν (Him) ὅπως (that) ἐλθὼν (having come), διασώσῃ (He might save) τὸν (the) δοῦλον (servant) αὐτοῦ (of him). ⁴ οἱ (-) δὲ (And) παραγενόμενοι (having come) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), παρεκάλουν (they were begging) αὐτὸν (Him) σπουδαίως (earnestly), λέγοντες (saying) ὅτι (that), “Ἄξιός (Worthy) ἐστιν (he is), ᾧ (to whom) παρέξῃ (You will grant) τοῦτο (this); ⁵ ἀγαπᾷ (he loves) γὰρ (for) τὸ (the) ἔθνος (nation) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) συναγωγὴν (synagogue) αὐτὸς (he) ᾠκοδόμησεν (built) ἡμῖν (for us).” ⁶ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐπορεύετο (was going) σὺν (with) αὐτοῖς (them). ἤδη (Already) δὲ (then), αὐτοῦ (He) οὐ (not) μακρὰν (far) ἀπέχοντος (being distant) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) οἰκίας (house), ἔπεμψεν (sent) φίλους (friends) ὁ (the) ἑκατοντάρχης (centurion), λέγων (saying) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Κύριε (Lord), μὴ (not) σκύλλου (trouble Yourself), οὐ (not) γὰρ (for) ἱκανός (worthy) εἰμι (I am) ἵνα (that) ὑπὸ (under) τὴν (the) στέγην (roof) μου (of me) εἰσέλθῃς (You should come); ⁷ διὸ (therefore) οὐδὲ (neither) ἐμαυτὸν (myself) ἠξίωσα (counted I worthy) πρὸς (to) σὲ (You) ἐλθεῖν (to come); ἀλλὰ (but) εἰπὲ (say) λόγῳ (in a word), καὶ (and) ἰαθήτω (shall be healed) ὁ (the) παῖς (servant) μου (of me). ⁸ καὶ (Also) γὰρ (for) ἐγὼ (I) ἄνθρωπός (a man) εἰμι (am) ὑπὸ (under) ἐξουσίαν (authority) τασσόμενος (appointed), ἔχων (having) ὑπ’ (under) ἐμαυτὸν (me) στρατιώτας (soldiers); καὶ (and) λέγω (I say) τούτῳ (to this one), ‘Πορεύθητι (Go),’ καὶ (and) πορεύεται (he goes); καὶ (and) ἄλλῳ (to another), ‘Ἔρχου (Come),’ καὶ (and) ἔρχεται (he comes); καὶ (and) τῷ (to) δούλῳ (the servant) μου (of me), ‘Ποίησον (Do) τοῦτο (this),’ καὶ (and) ποιεῖ (he does it).” ⁹ Ἀκούσας (Having heard) δὲ (then) ταῦτα (these things), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐθαύμασεν (marveled at) αὐτόν (him); καὶ (and) στραφεὶς (having turned) τῷ (to the) ἀκολουθοῦντι (following) αὐτῷ (Him) ὄχλῳ (crowd), εἶπεν (He said), “Λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), οὐδὲ (not even) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) Ἰσραὴλ (Israel) τοσαύτην (such great) πίστιν (faith) εὗρον (did I find).” ¹⁰ καὶ (And) ὑποστρέψαντες (having returned) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) οἶκον (house), οἱ (those) πεμφθέντες (having been sent) εὗρον (found) τὸν (the) δοῦλον (servant) ὑγιαίνοντα (in good health).
