¹ Ἐγένετο (It came to pass) δὲ (then) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἡμέραις (days) ἐκείναις (those), ἐξῆλθεν (went out) δόγμα (a decree) παρὰ (from) Καίσαρος (Caesar) Αὐγούστου (Augustus) ἀπογράφεσθαι (to register) πᾶσαν (all) τὴν (the) οἰκουμένην (world).

¹⁷ εἰπὸν (Tell) οὖν (therefore) ἡμῖν (us) τί (what) σοι (You) δοκεῖ (think)? ἔξεστιν (Is it lawful) δοῦναι (to give) κῆνσον (tribute) Καίσαρι (to Caesar), ἢ (or) οὔ (not)?”

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) κηρυχθήσεται (there will be proclaimed) τοῦτο (this) τὸ (-) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom) ἐν (in) ὅλῃ (all) τῇ (the) οἰκουμένῃ (earth), εἰς (for) μαρτύριον (a testimony) πᾶσιν (to all) τοῖς (the) ἔθνεσιν (nations); καὶ (and) τότε (then) ἥξει (will come) τὸ (the) τέλος (end).

⁹ ἀμὴν (Truly) δὲ (now) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ὅπου (wherever) ἐὰν (if) κηρυχθῇ (shall be proclaimed) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) εἰς (in) ὅλον (whole) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), καὶ (also) ὃ (what) ἐποίησεν (has done) αὕτη (this woman) λαληθήσεται (will be spoken of) εἰς (for) μνημόσυνον (a memorial) αὐτῆς (of her).”

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Πορευθέντες (Having gone) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) ἅπαντα (all), κηρύξατε (proclaim) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) πάσῃ (to all) τῇ (the) κτίσει (creation).

¹ Ἐν (In) ἔτει (year) δὲ (then) πεντεκαιδεκάτῳ (fifteenth) τῆς (of the) ἡγεμονίας (reign) Τιβερίου (of Tiberius) Καίσαρος (Caesar), ἡγεμονεύοντος (being governor) Ποντίου (Pontius) Πιλάτου (Pilate) τῆς (-) Ἰουδαίας (of Judea), καὶ (and) τετρααρχοῦντος (being tetrarch) τῆς (-) Γαλιλαίας (of Galilee) Ἡρῴδου (Herod), Φιλίππου (Philip) δὲ (now) τοῦ (the) ἀδελφοῦ (brother) αὐτοῦ (of him) τετρααρχοῦντος (being tetrarch) τῆς (-) Ἰτουραίας (of Ituraea) καὶ (and) Τραχωνίτιδος (of Trachonitis) χώρας (the region), καὶ (and) Λυσανίου (Lysanias) τῆς (-) Ἀβιληνῆς (of Abilene) τετρααρχοῦντος (being tetrarch),

²⁸ ἀναστὰς (Having risen up) δὲ (now) εἷς (one) ἐξ (of) αὐτῶν (them) ὀνόματι (named) Ἅγαβος (Agabus), ἐσήμανεν (he signified) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit that) λιμὸν (a famine) μεγάλην (great) μέλλειν (is about) ἔσεσθαι (to be) ἐφ’ (over) ὅλην (all) τὴν (the) οἰκουμένην (world)— ἥτις (which) ἐγένετο (came to pass) ἐπὶ (under) Κλαυδίου (Claudius).

¹¹ εἰ (If) μὲν (indeed) οὖν (therefore) ἀδικῶ (I do wrong), καὶ (and) ἄξιον (worthy) θανάτου (of death) πέπραχά (have done) τι (anything), οὐ (not) παραιτοῦμαι (I do refuse) τὸ (-) ἀποθανεῖν (to die). εἰ (If) δὲ (however) οὐδέν (nothing) ἐστιν (there is) ὧν (of which) οὗτοι (they) κατηγοροῦσίν (can accuse) μου (me), οὐδείς (no one) με (me) δύναται (can) αὐτοῖς (to them) χαρίσασθαι (give up). Καίσαρα (To Caesar) ἐπικαλοῦμαι (I appeal)!”

²¹ τοῦ (-) δὲ (But) Παύλου (of Paul) ἐπικαλεσαμένου (having appealed for) τηρηθῆναι (to be kept) αὐτὸν (himself) εἰς (for) τὴν (the) τοῦ (-) Σεβαστοῦ (Emperor's) διάγνωσιν (decision), ἐκέλευσα (I commanded) τηρεῖσθαι (to be kept) αὐτὸν (him) ἕως (until) οὗ (that) ἀναπέμψω (I might send) αὐτὸν (him) πρὸς (to) Καίσαρα (Caesar).”

⁸ Πρῶτον (First) μὲν (indeed), εὐχαριστῶ (I thank) τῷ (the) Θεῷ (God) μου (of me) διὰ (through) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) περὶ (for) πάντων (all) ὑμῶν (of you), ὅτι (because) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) ὑμῶν (of you) καταγγέλλεται (is being proclaimed) ἐν (in) ὅλῳ (all) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world).

²² Ἀσπάζονται (Greet) ὑμᾶς (you), πάντες (all) οἱ (the) ἅγιοι (saints), μάλιστα (especially) δὲ (now) οἱ (those) ἐκ (from) τῆς (-) Καίσαρος (Caesar's) οἰκίας (household).
