³¹ οὕτως (So) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you), ὅταν (when) ἴδητε (you see) ταῦτα (these things) γινόμενα (coming to pass), γινώσκετε (know) ὅτι (that) ἐγγύς (near) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

² ‹καὶ› (and) λέγων (saying), “Μετανοεῖτε (Repent); ἤγγικεν (has drawn near) γὰρ (for) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens).”

¹ Καὶ (And) προσελθόντες (having approached), οἱ (the) Φαρισαῖοι (Pharisees) καὶ (and) Σαδδουκαῖοι (Sadducees), πειράζοντες (testing), ἐπηρώτησαν (asked) αὐτὸν (Him) σημεῖον (a sign) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἐπιδεῖξαι (to show) αὐτοῖς (them). ² Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ὀψίας (Evening) γενομένης (having come), λέγετε (you say), ‘Εὐδία (Fair weather); πυρράζει (is red) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) οὐρανός (sky).’ ³ καὶ (And) πρωΐ (in the morning), ‘Σήμερον (Today) χειμών (a storm); πυρράζει (is red) γὰρ (for) στυγνάζων (being overcast) ὁ (the) οὐρανός (sky).’ τὸ (The) μὲν (indeed) πρόσωπον (appearance) τοῦ (of the) οὐρανοῦ (sky) γινώσκετε (you know how) διακρίνειν (to discern), τὰ (-) δὲ (but) σημεῖα (the signs) τῶν (of the) καιρῶν (times), οὐ (not) δύνασθε (you are able)! ⁴ γενεὰ (A generation) πονηρὰ (evil) καὶ (and) μοιχαλὶς (adulterous), σημεῖον (a sign) ἐπιζητεῖ (seeks), καὶ (and) σημεῖον (a sign) οὐ (not) δοθήσεται (will be given) αὐτῇ (to it), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) τὸ (the) σημεῖον (sign) Ἰωνᾶ (of Jonah).” καὶ (And) καταλιπὼν (having left) αὐτοὺς (them), ἀπῆλθεν (He went away).

⁵¹ Δοκεῖτε (Think you) ὅτι (that) εἰρήνην (peace) παρεγενόμην (I came) δοῦναι (to give) ἐν (on) τῇ (the) γῇ (earth)? οὐχί (No), λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀλλ’ (but) ἢ (rather) διαμερισμόν (division). ⁵² ἔσονται (There will be) γὰρ (for) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) νῦν (now) πέντε (five) ἐν (in) ἑνὶ (one) οἴκῳ (house) διαμεμερισμένοι (divided), τρεῖς (three) ἐπὶ (against) δυσὶν (two), καὶ (and) δύο (two) ἐπὶ (against) τρισίν (three). ⁵³ διαμερισθήσονται (They will be divided) πατὴρ (father) ἐπὶ (against) υἱῷ (son) καὶ (and) υἱὸς (son) ἐπὶ (against) πατρί (father), μήτηρ (mother) ἐπὶ (against) [τὴν] (-) θυγατέρα (daughter) καὶ (and) θυγάτηρ (daughter) ἐπὶ (against) τὴν (-) μητέρα (mother), πενθερὰ (mother-in-law) ἐπὶ (against) τὴν (the) νύμφην (daughter-in-law) αὐτῆς (of her) καὶ (and) νύμφη (daughter-in-law) ἐπὶ (against) τὴν (-) πενθεράν (mother-in-law).” ⁵⁴ Ἔλεγεν (He was saying) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) τοῖς (to the) ὄχλοις (crowds), “Ὅταν (When) ἴδητε (you see) [τὴν] (a) νεφέλην (cloud) ἀνατέλλουσαν (rising up) ἐπὶ (from) δυσμῶν (the west), εὐθέως (immediately) λέγετε (you say) ὅτι (-), ‘Ὄμβρος (A shower) ἔρχεται (is coming),’ καὶ (and) γίνεται (it happens) οὕτως (so). ⁵⁵ καὶ (And) ὅταν (when) νότον (a south wind) πνέοντα (is blowing), λέγετε (you say) ὅτι (-), ‘Καύσων (Heat) ἔσται (there will be),’ καὶ (and) γίνεται (it happens). ⁵⁶ ὑποκριταί (Hypocrites)! τὸ (The) πρόσωπον (appearance) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth) καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) οὐρανοῦ (sky) οἴδατε (you know how) δοκιμάζειν (to discern); τὸν (the) καιρὸν (time) δὲ (however) τοῦτον (this), πῶς (how) ‹οὐκ (not) οἴδατε (do you know) δοκιμάζειν› (to discern)? ⁵⁷ Τί (Why) δὲ (now) καὶ (even) ἀφ’ (for) ἑαυτῶν (yourselves) οὐ (not) κρίνετε (judge you) τὸ (what is) δίκαιον (right)?

³⁷ ἔτι (Yet) γὰρ (for), “Μικρὸν (A little) ὅσον (very) ὅσον (while), ὁ (the One) ἐρχόμενος (coming) ἥξει (will come), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) χρονίσει (will delay).

⁹ μὴ (Not) στενάζετε (grumble) ἀδελφοί (brothers) κατ’ (against) ἀλλήλων (one another), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) κριθῆτε (you may be condemned). ἰδοὺ (Behold), ὁ (the) κριτὴς (Judge) πρὸ (before) τῶν (the) θυρῶν (doors) ἕστηκεν (is standing).

⁷ Πάντων (Of all) δὲ (now) τὸ (the) τέλος (end) ἤγγικεν (has drawn near). σωφρονήσατε (Be clear-minded) οὖν (therefore), καὶ (and) νήψατε (sober) εἰς (for the purpose of) προσευχάς (prayers),
