²² Ἀκούσας (Having heard) δὲ (then), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἔτι (Yet) ἕν (one thing) σοι (to you) λείπει (is lacking): πάντα (All), ὅσα (as much as) ἔχεις (you have), πώλησον (sell), καὶ (and) διάδος (distribute) πτωχοῖς (to the poor), καὶ (and) ἕξεις (you will have) θησαυρὸν (treasure) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens); καὶ (and) δεῦρο (come), ἀκολούθει (follow) μοι (Me).”

¹⁹ Μὴ (Not) θησαυρίζετε (store up) ὑμῖν (for yourselves) θησαυροὺς (treasures) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), ὅπου (where) σὴς (moth) καὶ (and) βρῶσις (rust) ἀφανίζει (destroy), καὶ (and) ὅπου (where) κλέπται (thieves) διορύσσουσιν (break in) καὶ (and) κλέπτουσιν (steal); ²⁰ θησαυρίζετε (store up) δὲ (however) ὑμῖν (for yourselves) θησαυροὺς (treasures) ἐν (in) οὐρανῷ (heaven), ὅπου (where) οὔτε (neither) σὴς (moth) οὔτε (nor) βρῶσις (rust) ἀφανίζει (destroy), καὶ (and) ὅπου (where) κλέπται (thieves) οὐ (not) διορύσσουσιν (do break in) οὐδὲ (nor) κλέπτουσιν (steal).

²¹ Ἔφη (Was saying) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Εἰ (If) θέλεις (you desire) τέλειος (perfect) εἶναι (to be), ὕπαγε (go), πώλησόν (sell) σου (of you) τὰ (the) ὑπάρχοντα (possessing), καὶ (and) δὸς (give) [τοῖς] (to the) πτωχοῖς (poor), καὶ (and) ἕξεις (you will have) θησαυρὸν (treasure) ἐν (in) οὐρανοῖς (the heavens); καὶ (and) δεῦρο (come), ἀκολούθει (follow) μοι (Me).”

²⁷ Τότε (Then) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering) ὁ (-) Πέτρος (Peter) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἡμεῖς (we) ἀφήκαμεν (left) πάντα (all things) καὶ (and) ἠκολουθήσαμέν (followed) σοι (You); τί (what) ἄρα (then) ἔσται (will be) ἡμῖν (to us)?” ²⁸ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) ὑμεῖς (you) οἱ (-) ἀκολουθήσαντές (having followed) μοι (Me), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) παλινγενεσίᾳ (regeneration), ὅταν (when) καθίσῃ (shall sit down) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ἐπὶ (upon) θρόνου (the throne) δόξης (of glory) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καθήσεσθε (will sit) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς* (you) ἐπὶ (on) δώδεκα (twelve) θρόνους (thrones), κρίνοντες (judging) τὰς (the) δώδεκα (twelve) φυλὰς (tribes) τοῦ (-) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel).

²³ Ἔλεγεν (He was saying) δὲ (then) πρὸς (to) πάντας (all), “Εἴ (If) τις (anyone) θέλει (desires) ὀπίσω (after) μου (Me) ἔρχεσθαι (to come), ἀρνησάσθω (let him deny) ἑαυτὸν (himself), καὶ (and) ἀράτω (let him take up) τὸν (the) σταυρὸν (cross) αὐτοῦ (of him) καθ’ (every) ἡμέραν (day), καὶ (and) ἀκολουθείτω (let him follow) μοι (Me).

⁵⁷ Καὶ (And) πορευομένων (going) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐν (along) τῇ (the) ὁδῷ (road), εἶπέν (said) τις (someone) πρὸς (to) αὐτόν (Him), “Ἀκολουθήσω (I will follow) σοι (You) ὅπου (wherever) ἐὰν (if) ἀπέρχῃ (You may go).” ⁵⁸ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Αἱ (The) ἀλώπεκες (foxes) φωλεοὺς (holes) ἔχουσιν (have), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) πετεινὰ (birds) τοῦ (of the) οὐρανοῦ (air) κατασκηνώσεις (nests); ὁ (-) δὲ (but) Υἱὸς (the Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) οὐκ (not) ἔχει (has) ποῦ (where) τὴν (the) κεφαλὴν (head) κλίνῃ (He might lay).” ⁵⁹ Εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (then) πρὸς (to) ἕτερον (another), “Ἀκολούθει (Follow) μοι (Me).” ὁ (-) Δὲ (But) εἶπεν (he said), “‹Κύριε› (Lord) Ἐπίτρεψόν (allow) μοι (me) πρῶτον (first), ἀπελθόντι (having gone away), θάψαι (to bury) τὸν (the) πατέρα (father) μου (of me).” ⁶⁰ Εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (then) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἄφες (Leave) τοὺς (the) νεκροὺς (dead) θάψαι (to bury) τοὺς (-) ἑαυτῶν (their own) νεκρούς (dead); σὺ (you) δὲ (however), ἀπελθὼν (having gone forth), διάγγελλε (declare) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).” ⁶¹ Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) καὶ (also) ἕτερος (another), “Ἀκολουθήσω (I will follow) σοι (You), Κύριε (Lord); πρῶτον (first) δὲ (however) ἐπίτρεψόν (allow) μοι (me) ἀποτάξασθαι (to bid farewell) τοῖς (to those) εἰς (at) τὸν (the) οἶκόν (home) μου (of me).” ⁶² Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Οὐδεὶς (No one) ἐπιβαλὼν (having laid) τὴν (the) χεῖρα (hand) ἐπ’ (upon) ἄροτρον (the plow), καὶ (and) βλέπων (looking) εἰς (on) τὰ (the things) ὀπίσω (behind), εὔθετός (fit) ἐστιν (is) τῇ (for the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).”

⁴² ὀλίγων (one thing) δέ (however) ἐστιν (is) χρεία (necessary), ἢ (and) ἑνός (one thing) Μαριὰμ (Mary) γὰρ (for) τὴν (the) ἀγαθὴν (good) μερίδα (portion) ἐξελέξατο (has chosen), ἥτις (which) οὐκ (not) ἀφαιρεθήσεται (will be taken away from) αὐτῆς (her).”

³³ Πωλήσατε (Sell) τὰ (the) ὑπάρχοντα (possessions) ὑμῶν (of you) καὶ (and) δότε (give) ἐλεημοσύνην (alms); ποιήσατε (make) ἑαυτοῖς (to yourselves) βαλλάντια (purses) μὴ (not) παλαιούμενα (growing old), θησαυρὸν (a treasure) ἀνέκλειπτον (unfailing) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens), ὅπου (where) κλέπτης (thief) οὐκ (not) ἐγγίζει (does draw near), οὐδὲ (nor) σὴς (moth) διαφθείρει (destroy).

⁹ Καὶ (And) ἐγὼ (I) ὑμῖν (to you) λέγω (say), ἑαυτοῖς (for yourselves) ποιήσατε (make) φίλους (friends) ἐκ (by) τοῦ (the) μαμωνᾶ (wealth) τῆς (-) ἀδικίας (of unrighteousness), ἵνα (that) ὅταν (when) ἐκλίπῃ (it fails) δέξωνται (they might receive) ὑμᾶς (you) εἰς (into) τὰς (the) αἰωνίους (eternal) σκηνάς (dwellings).

⁴⁴ Πάντες (All) δὲ (now) οἱ (-) ‹πιστεύοντες (having believed) ἦσαν› (were) ἐπὶ (together) τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) ‹καὶ› (and) εἶχον (having) ἅπαντα (all things) κοινά (in common); ⁴⁵ καὶ (and) τὰ (the) κτήματα (possessions) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ὑπάρξεις (goods) ἐπίπρασκον (they were selling) καὶ (and) διεμέριζον (were dividing) αὐτὰ (them) πᾶσιν (to all), καθότι (as) ἄν (-) τις (anyone) χρείαν (need) εἶχεν (had).

³⁴ Οὐδὲ (Not even) γὰρ (for) ἐνδεής (in need) τις (anyone) ἦν (there was) ἐν (among) αὐτοῖς (them); ὅσοι (as many as) γὰρ (for) κτήτορες (owners) χωρίων (of lands) ἢ (or) οἰκιῶν (houses) ὑπῆρχον (were) πωλοῦντες (selling them), ἔφερον (were bringing) τὰς (the) τιμὰς (proceeds) τῶν (of what) πιπρασκομένων (is sold), ³⁵ καὶ (and) ἐτίθουν (were laying them) παρὰ (at) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) τῶν (of the) ἀποστόλων (apostles); διεδίδετο (distribution was made) δὲ (then) ἑκάστῳ (to each) καθότι (just as) ἄν (-) τις (anyone) χρείαν (need) εἶχεν (had). ³⁶ Ἰωσὴφ (Joseph) δὲ (now) ὁ (-) ἐπικληθεὶς (having been called) Βαρνάβας (Barnabas) ἀπὸ (by) τῶν (the) ἀποστόλων (apostles) ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) μεθερμηνευόμενον (translated) Υἱὸς (Son) παρακλήσεως (of encouragement) Λευίτης (a Levite), Κύπριος (a Cypriot) τῷ (at the) γένει (birth), ³⁷ ὑπάρχοντος (owns) αὐτῷ (by him) ἀγροῦ (a field), πωλήσας (having sold it), ἤνεγκεν (brought) τὸ (the) χρῆμα (money) καὶ (and) ἔθηκεν (laid it) πρὸς (at) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) τῶν (of the) ἀποστόλων (apostles).

¹³ ἀδελφοί (Brothers), ἐγὼ (I) ἐμαυτὸν (myself) οὐ* (not) λογίζομαι (do consider) κατειληφέναι (to have taken hold of it). ἓν (One thing) δέ (however): τὰ (The things) μὲν (indeed) ὀπίσω (behind) ἐπιλανθανόμενος (forgetting), τοῖς (to the things) δὲ (now) ἔμπροσθεν (ahead) ἐπεκτεινόμενος (reaching forward),

¹⁸ ἀγαθοεργεῖν (to do good), πλουτεῖν (to be rich) ἐν (in) ἔργοις (works) καλοῖς (good), εὐμεταδότους (generous in distributing) εἶναι (to be), κοινωνικούς (ready to share), ¹⁹ ἀποθησαυρίζοντας (treasuring up) ἑαυτοῖς (for themselves) θεμέλιον (a foundation) καλὸν (good) εἰς (for) τὸ (the) μέλλον (future), ἵνα (so that) ἐπιλάβωνται (they may take hold) τῆς (of) ὄντως (that which is indeed) ζωῆς (life).

⁸ Ἓν (This one) δὲ (however) τοῦτο (thing) μὴ (not) λανθανέτω (let be hidden from) ὑμᾶς (you), ἀγαπητοί (beloved), ὅτι (that) μία (one) ἡμέρα (day) παρὰ (with the) Κυρίῳ (Lord is) ὡς (like) χίλια (a thousand) ἔτη (years), καὶ (and) χίλια (a thousand) ἔτη (years) ὡς (like) ἡμέρα (day) μία (one).
