⁴ Λέγει (Says) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (Him) ὁ (-) Νικόδημος (Nicodemus), “Πῶς (How) δύναται (is able) ἄνθρωπος (a man) γεννηθῆναι (to be born), γέρων (old) ὤν (being)? μὴ (Not) δύναται (is he able) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) κοιλίαν (womb) τῆς (of the) μητρὸς (mother) αὐτοῦ (of him) δεύτερον (a second time) εἰσελθεῖν (to enter), καὶ (and) γεννηθῆναι (to be born)?”

³ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly) λέγω (I say) σοι (to you), ἐὰν (if) μή (not) τις (anyone) γεννηθῇ (be born) ἄνωθεν (from above), οὐ (not) δύναται (he is able) ἰδεῖν (to see) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).”

¹¹ Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to Him) ‹ἡ (the) γυνή› (woman) “Κύριε (Sir), οὔτε (nothing) ἄντλημα (to draw with) ἔχεις (You have), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) φρέαρ (well) ἐστὶν (is) βαθύ (deep); πόθεν (from where) οὖν (then) ἔχεις (have You) τὸ (the) ὕδωρ (water) τὸ (-) ζῶν (living)? ¹² μὴ (Not) σὺ (You) μείζων (greater than) εἶ (are) τοῦ (the) πατρὸς (father) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰακώβ (Jacob), ὃς (who) ἔδωκεν (gave) ἡμῖν (us) τὸ (the) φρέαρ (well), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (himself) ἐξ (of) αὐτοῦ (it) ἔπιεν (drank), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) υἱοὶ (sons) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) θρέμματα (livestock) αὐτοῦ (of him)?”

⁵³ Εἶπεν (Said) οὖν (therefore) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly), λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) φάγητε (you shall have eaten) τὴν (the) σάρκα (flesh) τοῦ (of the) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man), καὶ (and) πίητε (shall have drunk) αὐτοῦ (of Him) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood), οὐκ (not) ἔχετε (you have) ζωὴν (life) ἐν (in) ἑαυτοῖς (yourselves).

⁶⁰ Πολλοὶ (Many) οὖν (therefore), ἀκούσαντες (having heard), ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) μαθητῶν (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him), εἶπαν (said), “Σκληρός (Difficult) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) οὗτος (this); τίς (who) δύναται (is able) αὐτοῦ (it) ἀκούειν (to hear)?”

¹⁸ Ὁ (The) λόγος (message) γὰρ (for) ὁ (-) τοῦ (of the) σταυροῦ (cross), τοῖς (to those) μὲν (indeed) ἀπολλυμένοις (perishing) μωρία (foolishness) ἐστίν (is); τοῖς (those) δὲ (however) σῳζομένοις (being saved), ἡμῖν (to us), δύναμις (power) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐστιν (it is).

¹⁴ Ψυχικὸς (The natural) δὲ (however) ἄνθρωπος (man) οὐ (not) δέχεται (accepts) τὰ (the things) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); μωρία (foolishness) γὰρ (for) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐστίν (they are), καὶ (and) οὐ (not) δύναται (he is able) γνῶναι (to understand them), ὅτι (because) πνευματικῶς (spiritually) ἀνακρίνεται (they are discerned).
