²⁰ οὗ (Where) γάρ (for) εἰσιν (are) δύο (two) ἢ (or) τρεῖς (three) συνηγμένοι (gathered together) εἰς (unto) τὸ (-) ἐμὸν (My) ὄνομα (name), ἐκεῖ (there) εἰμι (am I) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) αὐτῶν (of them).”

³³ οὕτως (Thus) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you), ὅταν (when) ἴδητε (you see) πάντα (all) ταῦτα (these things), γινώσκετε (know) ὅτι (that) ἐγγύς (near) ἐστιν (He is), ἐπὶ (at) θύραις (the doors). ³⁴ ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) παρέλθῃ (will have passed away) ἡ (the) γενεὰ (generation) αὕτη (this) ἕως (until) ἂν (-) πάντα (all) ταῦτα (these things) γένηται (shall have taken place).

¹³ καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) εἰσῆλθον (they had entered) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) ὑπερῷον (upper room), ἀνέβησαν (they went up) οὗ (where) ἦσαν (they were) καταμένοντες (staying), ὅ (-) τε (both) Πέτρος (Peter) καὶ (and) Ἰωάννης (John), καὶ (and) Ἰάκωβος (James) καὶ (and) Ἀνδρέας (Andrew), Φίλιππος (Philip) καὶ (and) Θωμᾶς (Thomas), Βαρθολομαῖος (Bartholomew) καὶ (and) Μαθθαῖος (Matthew), Ἰάκωβος (James son) Ἁλφαίου (of Alphaeus), καὶ (and) Σίμων (Simon) ὁ (the) Ζηλωτὴς (Zealot), καὶ (and) Ἰούδας (Judas son) Ἰακώβου (of James). ¹⁴ οὗτοι (These) πάντες (all) ἦσαν (were) προσκαρτεροῦντες (steadfastly continuing) ὁμοθυμαδὸν (with one accord) τῇ (-) προσευχῇ (in prayer), σὺν (with the) γυναιξὶν (women), καὶ (and) Μαριὰμ (Mary) τῇ (the) μητρὶ (mother) τοῦ (-) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus), καὶ (and) σὺν (with) τοῖς (the) ἀδελφοῖς (brothers) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹ Καὶ (And) ἐν (during) τῷ (the) συμπληροῦσθαι (arriving of) τὴν (the) ἡμέραν (day) τῆς (-) Πεντηκοστῆς (of Pentecost), ἦσαν (they were) πάντες (all) ὁμοῦ (together) ἐπὶ (in) τὸ (the) αὐτό (one place).

⁴² Ἦσαν (They were) δὲ (now) προσκαρτεροῦντες (steadfastly continuing) τῇ (in the) διδαχῇ (teaching) τῶν (of the) ἀποστόλων (apostles), καὶ (and) τῇ (-) κοινωνίᾳ (in fellowship), τῇ (the) κλάσει (breaking) τοῦ (of the) ἄρτου (bread), καὶ (and) ταῖς (the) προσευχαῖς (prayers).

¹⁶ Ἐγένετο (It happened) δὲ (now), πορευομένων (going) ἡμῶν (of us) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) προσευχὴν (place of prayer), παιδίσκην (a girl) τινὰ (certain), ἔχουσαν (having) πνεῦμα (a spirit) Πύθωνα (of Python), ὑπαντῆσαι (met) ἡμῖν (us), ἥτις (who) ἐργασίαν (gain) πολλὴν (much) παρεῖχεν (was bringing) τοῖς (the) κυρίοις (masters) αὐτῆς (of her) μαντευομένη (by fortune-telling).

⁷ Ἐν (In) δὲ (then) τῇ (the) μιᾷ (first day) τῶν (of the) σαββάτων (week), συνηγμένων (having come together) ἡμῶν (we) κλάσαι (to break) ἄρτον (bread), ὁ (-) Παῦλος (Paul) διελέγετο (talked) αὐτοῖς (to them), μέλλων (about) ἐξιέναι (to depart) τῇ (on the) ἐπαύριον (next day); παρέτεινέν (he continued) τε (then) τὸν (the) λόγον (talk) μέχρι (until) μεσονυκτίου (midnight).

⁸ εἴτε (or) ὁ (-) παρακαλῶν (exhorting), ἐν (in) τῇ (the) παρακλήσει (exhortation); ὁ (-) μεταδιδοὺς (giving), ἐν (in) ἁπλότητι (generosity); ὁ (-) προϊστάμενος (leading), ἐν (with) σπουδῇ (diligence); ὁ (-) ἐλεῶν (showing mercy), ἐν (with) ἱλαρότητι (cheerfulness).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) τοῦτο (this), εἰδότες (knowing) τὸν (the) καιρόν (time), ὅτι (that it is the) ὥρα (hour) ἤδη (already) ὑμᾶς (for you) ἐξ (out of) ὕπνου (sleep) ἐγερθῆναι (to awaken); νῦν (now) γὰρ (for) ἐγγύτερον (nearer) ἡμῶν (is of us) ἡ (the) σωτηρία (salvation) ἢ (than) ὅτε (when first) ἐπιστεύσαμεν (we believed). ¹² ἡ (The) νὺξ (night) προέκοψεν (is nearly over), ἡ (-) δὲ (and) ἡμέρα (the day) ἤγγικεν (has drawn near). ἀποθώμεθα (We should cast off) οὖν (therefore) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) τοῦ (-) σκότους (of darkness); ἐνδυσώμεθα (we should put on) δὲ (now) τὰ (the) ὅπλα (armor) τοῦ (-) φωτός (of light). ¹³ ὡς (As) ἐν (in) ἡμέρᾳ (daytime), εὐσχημόνως (properly) περιπατήσωμεν (we should walk), μὴ (not) κώμοις (in reveling) καὶ (and) μέθαις (drinking), μὴ (not) κοίταις (in sexual immorality) καὶ (and) ἀσελγείαις (sensuality), μὴ (not) ἔριδι (in dissension) καὶ (and) ζήλῳ (jealousy).

¹³ ἑκάστου (of each) τὸ (the) ἔργον (work) φανερὸν (manifest) γενήσεται (will become); ἡ (the) γὰρ (for) ἡμέρα (day) δηλώσει (will disclose it), ὅτι (because) ἐν (in) πυρὶ (fire) ἀποκαλύπτεται (it is revealed); καὶ (and) ἑκάστου (of each) τὸ (the) ἔργον (work), ὁποῖόν (what sort) ἐστιν (it is), τὸ (the) πῦρ (fire) αὐτὸ (itself) δοκιμάσει (will prove).

⁴ ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματι (name) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ‹ἡμῶν› (our) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) συναχθέντων (having been gathered together) ὑμῶν (you), καὶ (and) τοῦ (-) ἐμοῦ (of me) πνεύματος (in spirit), σὺν (with) τῇ (the) δυνάμει (power) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus),

¹⁷ Τοῦτο (In this) δὲ (now) παραγγέλλων (instructing), οὐκ (not) ἐπαινῶ (I do praise), ὅτι (because) οὐκ (not) εἰς (for) τὸ (the) κρεῖσσον (better), ἀλλὰ (but) εἰς (for) τὸ (the) ἧσσον (worse), συνέρχεσθε (you come together). ¹⁸ πρῶτον (First) μὲν (indeed), γὰρ (for) συνερχομένων (coming together) ὑμῶν (you) ἐν (in) ἐκκλησίᾳ (an assembly), ἀκούω (I hear) σχίσματα (divisions) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) ὑπάρχειν (there to be), καὶ (and) μέρος (in part) τι (it) πιστεύω (I believe).

²⁰ Συνερχομένων (Coming) οὖν (therefore) ὑμῶν (of you) ἐπὶ (together) τὸ (in one) αὐτὸ (place), οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (it is) κυριακὸν (the Lord’s) δεῖπνον (supper) φαγεῖν (to eat).

³ ὁ (The one) δὲ (however) προφητεύων (prophesying), ἀνθρώποις (to men) λαλεῖ (speaks for) οἰκοδομὴν (edification), καὶ (and) παράκλησιν (encouragement), καὶ (and) παραμυθίαν (consolation).

²³ Ἐὰν (If) οὖν (therefore) συνέλθῃ (gathers) ἡ (the) ἐκκλησία (church) ὅλη (whole) ἐπὶ (together) τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (place), καὶ (and) πάντες (all) λαλῶσιν (should speak) γλώσσαις (in tongues), εἰσέλθωσιν (come in) δὲ (however) ἰδιῶται (uninstructed ones) ἢ (or) ἄπιστοι (unbelievers), οὐκ (not) ἐροῦσιν (will they say) ὅτι (that) μαίνεσθε (you are mad)?

⁵ τὸ (The) ἐπιεικὲς (gentleness) ὑμῶν (of you) γνωσθήτω (let be known) πᾶσιν (to all) ἀνθρώποις (men). ὁ (The) Κύριος (Lord) ἐγγύς (is near).

¹⁸ Ὥστε (Therefore) παρακαλεῖτε (encourage) ἀλλήλους (one another) ἐν (with) τοῖς (the) λόγοις (words) τούτοις (these).

¹¹ Διὸ (Therefore) παρακαλεῖτε (encourage) ἀλλήλους (one another) καὶ (and) οἰκοδομεῖτε (build up) εἷς (one) τὸν (-) ἕνα (another), καθὼς (just as) καὶ (also) ποιεῖτε (you are doing).

¹³ ἀλλὰ (But) παρακαλεῖτε (encourage) ἑαυτοὺς (other) καθ’ (each) ἑκάστην (every) ἡμέραν (day), ἄχρις (while) οὗ (-) τὸ (-) Σήμερον (today) καλεῖται (it is called), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) σκληρυνθῇ (may be hardened) τις (one) ἐξ (of) ὑμῶν (you) ἀπάτῃ (by the deceitfulness) τῆς (-) ἁμαρτίας (of sin).

²⁴ καὶ (And) κατανοῶμεν (we should think) ἀλλήλους (one another), εἰς (toward) παροξυσμὸν (stirring up) ἀγάπης (to love) καὶ (and) καλῶν (to good) ἔργων (works),

⁸ μακροθυμήσατε (Be patient) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you); στηρίξατε (strengthen) τὰς (the) καρδίας (hearts) ὑμῶν (of you), ὅτι (because) ἡ (the) παρουσία (coming) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἤγγικεν (has drawn near).

⁷ Πάντων (Of all) δὲ (now) τὸ (the) τέλος (end) ἤγγικεν (has drawn near). σωφρονήσατε (Be clear-minded) οὖν (therefore), καὶ (and) νήψατε (sober) εἰς (for the purpose of) προσευχάς (prayers),

⁹ οὐ (Not) βραδύνει (does delay) Κύριος (the Lord) τῆς (the) ἐπαγγελίας (promise), ὥς (as) τινες (some) βραδύτητα (slowness) ἡγοῦνται (esteem), ἀλλὰ (but) μακροθυμεῖ (is patient) εἰς (toward) ὑμᾶς (you), μὴ (not) βουλόμενός (willing) τινας (for any) ἀπολέσθαι (to perish), ἀλλὰ (but) πάντας (all) εἰς (to) μετάνοιαν (repentance) χωρῆσαι (to come).

¹¹ Τούτων (These things) οὕτως (in this way) πάντων (all) λυομένων (being dissolved), ποταποὺς (what kind) δεῖ (ought) ὑπάρχειν (to be) ὑμᾶς (you)? ἐν (In) ἁγίαις (holy) ἀναστροφαῖς (conduct) καὶ (and) εὐσεβείαις (godliness),

¹⁴ Διό (Therefore), ἀγαπητοί (beloved), ταῦτα (these things) προσδοκῶντες (expecting), σπουδάσατε (be diligent) ἄσπιλοι (without spot) καὶ (and) ἀμώμητοι (without blemish) αὐτῷ (by Him) εὑρεθῆναι (to be found), ἐν (in) εἰρήνῃ (peace).

¹⁹ Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (those) ἀποδιορίζοντες (causing divisions), ψυχικοί (worldly-minded), Πνεῦμα (the Spirit) μὴ (not) ἔχοντες (having).
