² Λειτουργούντων (As were ministering) δὲ (now) αὐτῶν (they) τῷ (to the) Κυρίῳ (Lord) καὶ (and) νηστευόντων (fasting), εἶπεν (said) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy), “Ἀφορίσατε (Set apart) δή (then) μοι (to Me) τὸν (-) Βαρνάβαν (Barnabas) καὶ (and) Σαῦλον (Saul) εἰς (for) τὸ (the) ἔργον (work) ὃ (to which) προσκέκλημαι (I have called) αὐτούς (them).”

¹⁶ Ὅταν (Whenever) δὲ (now) νηστεύητε (you fast), μὴ (not) γίνεσθε (be) ὡς (like) οἱ (the) ὑποκριταὶ (hypocrites), σκυθρωποί (gloomy); ἀφανίζουσιν (they disfigure) γὰρ (for) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (appearance) αὐτῶν (of them), ὅπως (so that) φανῶσιν (they might appear) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (to men) νηστεύοντες (as fasting). ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀπέχουσιν (they have) τὸν (the) μισθὸν (reward) αὐτῶν (of them).

¹⁴ Τότε (Then) προσέρχονται (come) αὐτῷ (to Him) οἱ (the) μαθηταὶ (disciples) Ἰωάννου (of John), λέγοντες (saying), “Διὰ (Because of) τί (why) ἡμεῖς (we) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) Φαρισαῖοι (Pharisees) νηστεύομεν (do fast) ‹πολλά› (many times); οἱ (the) δὲ (however) μαθηταί (disciples) σου (of You) οὐ (not) νηστεύουσιν (fast)?” ¹⁵ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (said) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Μὴ (Not) δύνανται (can) οἱ (the) υἱοὶ (sons) τοῦ (of the) νυμφῶνος (bridechamber) πενθεῖν (mourn) ἐφ’ (as) ὅσον (long as) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) νυμφίος (bridegroom)? ἐλεύσονται (Will come) δὲ (however) ἡμέραι (days) ὅταν (when) ἀπαρθῇ (shall have been taken away) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτῶν (them) ὁ (the) νυμφίος (bridegroom), καὶ (and) τότε (then) νηστεύσουσιν (they will fast).

³⁸ δεήθητε (Beseech) οὖν (therefore) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) τοῦ (of the) θερισμοῦ (harvest), ὅπως (that) ἐκβάλῃ (He might send out) ἐργάτας (workmen) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) θερισμὸν (harvest) αὐτοῦ (of Him).”

³⁷ καὶ (and) αὐτὴ (she) χήρα (was a widow) ἕως (of about) ἐτῶν (years) ὀγδοήκοντα (eighty and) τεσσάρων (four), ἣ (who) οὐκ (not) ἀφίστατο (departed) τοῦ (the) ἱεροῦ (temple), νηστείαις (with fastings) καὶ (and) δεήσεσιν (prayers) λατρεύουσα (serving) νύκτα (night) καὶ (and) ἡμέραν (day).

¹ Μετὰ (After) δὲ (now) ταῦτα (these things), ἀνέδειξεν (appointed) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) ‹καὶ› (also) ἑτέρους (others) ἑβδομήκοντα (seventy) ‹δύο› (two) καὶ (and) ἀπέστειλεν (sent) αὐτοὺς (them) ἀνὰ (in) δύο (two by) ‹δύο› (two) πρὸ (before) προσώπου (the face) αὐτοῦ (of Himself) εἰς (into) πᾶσαν (every) πόλιν (city) καὶ (and) τόπον (place) οὗ (where) ἤμελλεν (was about) αὐτὸς (He Himself) ἔρχεσθαι (to go).

⁴ ἡμεῖς (We) δὲ (now) τῇ (in the) προσευχῇ (prayer) καὶ (and) τῇ (the) διακονίᾳ (ministry) τοῦ (of the) λόγου (word) προσκαρτερήσομεν (will steadfastly continue).”

²⁹ Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τῷ (-) Φιλίππῳ (to Philip), “Πρόσελθε (Go near) καὶ (and) κολλήθητι (join yourself) τῷ (to the) ἅρματι (chariot) τούτῳ (this).”

¹⁵ Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (however) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord), “Πορεύου (Go), ὅτι (for) σκεῦος (a vessel) ἐκλογῆς (of choice) ἐστίν (is) μοι (to Me) οὗτος (this man), τοῦ (-) βαστάσαι (to carry) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me) ἐνώπιον (before) (τῶν) (the) ἐθνῶν (Gentiles), τε (and) καὶ (also) βασιλέων (kings), υἱῶν (the sons) τε (then) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel);

¹⁹ Τοῦ (-) δὲ (And) Πέτρου (of Peter) διενθυμουμένου (thinking) περὶ (over) τοῦ (the) ὁράματος (vision), εἶπεν (said) ‹αὐτῷ› (to him) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit), “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἄνδρες (men) [τρεῖς] (three) ζητοῦντές (are seeking) σε (you).

³⁰ Καὶ (And) ὁ (-) Κορνήλιος (Cornelius) ἔφη (was saying), “Ἀπὸ (Ago) τετάρτης (four) ἡμέρας (days), μέχρι (until) ταύτης (this) τῆς (the) ὥρας (hour), ἤμην (I was) τὴν (at the) ἐνάτην (ninth hour) προσευχόμενος (praying) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) οἴκῳ (house) μου (of me); καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἀνὴρ (a man) ἔστη (stood) ἐνώπιόν (before) μου (me) ἐν (in) ἐσθῆτι (apparel) λαμπρᾷ (bright),

³ τότε (Then) νηστεύσαντες (having fasted), καὶ (and) προσευξάμενοι (having prayed), καὶ (and) ἐπιθέντες (having laid) τὰς (the) χεῖρας (hands) αὐτοῖς (on them), ἀπέλυσαν (they sent them off).

²⁶ Κἀκεῖθεν (And from there) ἀπέπλευσαν (they sailed) εἰς (to) Ἀντιόχειαν (Antioch), ὅθεν (from where) ἦσαν (they had) παραδεδομένοι (been committed) τῇ (to the) χάριτι (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εἰς (for) τὸ (the) ἔργον (work) ὃ (that) ἐπλήρωσαν (they had fulfilled).

⁶ Διῆλθον (Having passed through) δὲ (then) τὴν (-) Φρυγίαν (Phrygia) καὶ (and) Γαλατικὴν (the Galatian) χώραν (region), κωλυθέντες (having been forbidden) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit) λαλῆσαι (to speak) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Ἀσίᾳ (Asia), ⁷ ἐλθόντες (having come) δὲ (then) κατὰ (down to) τὴν (-) Μυσίαν (Mysia), ἐπείραζον (they were attempting) εἰς (into) τὴν (-) Βιθυνίαν (Bithynia) πορευθῆναι (to go); καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) εἴασεν (did allow) αὐτοὺς (them) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus);

²⁸ Προσέχετε (Take heed) ἑαυτοῖς (to yourselves) καὶ (and) παντὶ (to all) τῷ (the) ποιμνίῳ (flock) ἐν (among) ᾧ (which) ὑμᾶς (you) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy) ἔθετο (has set) ἐπισκόπους (overseers), ποιμαίνειν (to shepherd) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἣν (which) περιεποιήσατο (He purchased) διὰ (with) τοῦ (-) αἵματος (blood) τοῦ (the) ἰδίου (own).

²¹ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (He said) πρός (to) με (me), ‘Πορεύου (Go), ὅτι (for) ἐγὼ (I) εἰς (to) ἔθνη (the Gentiles) μακρὰν (far away) ἐξαποστελῶ (will send) σε (you).’”

¹ Παῦλος (Paul), δοῦλος (a servant) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), κλητὸς (a called) ἀπόστολος (apostle) ἀφωρισμένος (having been set apart) εἰς (for) εὐαγγέλιον (the gospel) Θεοῦ (of God),

¹⁵ πῶς (How) δὲ (now) κηρύξωσιν (shall they preach) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) ἀποσταλῶσιν (they are sent)? καθὼς* (As) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Ὡς (How) ὡραῖοι (beautiful) οἱ (the) πόδες (feet) τῶν (of those) εὐαγγελιζομένων (proclaiming good news) ‹τὰ› (of) ἀγαθά (good things)!”

¹⁶ εἰς (for) τὸ (-) εἶναί (to be) με (me) λειτουργὸν (a minister) Χριστοῦ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles), ἱερουργοῦντα (administering the sacred service) τὸ (of the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἵνα (so that) γένηται (might become) ἡ (the) προσφορὰ (offering) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (Gentiles) εὐπρόσδεκτος (acceptable), ἡγιασμένη (having been sanctified) ἐν (in the) Πνεύματι (Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy).

⁵ Μὴ (Not) ἀποστερεῖτε (deprive) ἀλλήλους (one another), εἰ (if) μήτι (not) ἂν (-) ἐκ (by) συμφώνου (mutual agreement), πρὸς (for) καιρὸν (a time), ἵνα (that) σχολάσητε (you might be at leisure) τῇ (-) προσευχῇ (for prayer); καὶ (and) πάλιν (again), ἐπὶ (together) τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) ἦτε (be), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) πειράζῃ (may tempt) ὑμᾶς (you) ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan), διὰ (through) τὴν (the) ἀκρασίαν (lack of self-control) ὑμῶν (of you).

¹¹ πάντα (All) δὲ (now) ταῦτα (these things) ἐνεργεῖ (works) τὸ (the) ἓν (one) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) Πνεῦμα (Spirit), διαιροῦν (apportioning) ἰδίᾳ (individually) ἑκάστῳ (to each) καθὼς (as) βούλεται (He wills).

⁵ ἐν (in) πληγαῖς (beatings), ἐν (in) φυλακαῖς (imprisonments), ἐν (in) ἀκαταστασίαις (riots), ἐν (in) κόποις (labors), ἐν (in) ἀγρυπνίαις (watchings), ἐν (in) νηστείαις (fastings);

²⁷ κόπῳ (in labor) καὶ (and) μόχθῳ (toil), ἐν (in) ἀγρυπνίαις (watchings) πολλάκις (often); ἐν (in) λιμῷ (hunger) καὶ (and) δίψει (thirst), ἐν (in) νηστείαις (fastings) πολλάκις (often); ἐν (in) ψύχει (cold) καὶ (and) γυμνότητι (nakedness).

¹⁵ Ὅτε (When) δὲ (however) εὐδόκησεν (was pleased) [ὁ (-) θεὸς] (God) ὁ (the One) ἀφορίσας (having selected) με (me) ἐκ (from) κοιλίας (the womb) μητρός (of mother) μου (of me), καὶ (and) καλέσας (having called me) διὰ (by) τῆς (the) χάριτος (grace) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

⁸ ὁ (the One) γὰρ (for) ἐνεργήσας (having worked) Πέτρῳ (in Peter) εἰς (for) ἀποστολὴν (apostleship) τῆς (of the) περιτομῆς (circumcision) ἐνήργησεν (did) καὶ (also) ἐμοὶ (in me) εἰς (toward) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) — ⁹ καὶ (and) γνόντες (having known) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τὴν (-) δοθεῖσάν (having been given) μοι (to me), Ἰάκωβος (James) καὶ (and) Κηφᾶς (Cephas) καὶ (and) Ἰωάννης (John), οἱ (those) δοκοῦντες (esteemed) στῦλοι (pillars) εἶναι (to be), δεξιὰς (the right hands) ἔδωκαν (gave) ἐμοὶ (to me) καὶ (and) Βαρνάβα (Barnabas), κοινωνίας (of fellowship), ἵνα (that) ἡμεῖς (we should go) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles); αὐτοὶ (they) δὲ (however) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) περιτομήν (circumcision).

⁷ οὗ (of which) ἐγενήθην (I became) διάκονος (servant) κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) δωρεὰν (gift) τῆς (of the) χάριτος (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τῆς (-), δοθείσης (having been given) μοι (to me) κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) ἐνέργειαν (working) τῆς (of the) δυνάμεως (power) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹⁷ Καὶ (And) εἴπατε (say) Ἀρχίππῳ (to Archippus), “Βλέπε (Take heed to) τὴν (the) διακονίαν (ministry) ἣν (that) παρέλαβες (you have received) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord), ἵνα (that) αὐτὴν (it) πληροῖς (you may fulfill).”

⁷ εἰς (in regard to) ὃ (which) ἐτέθην (was appointed) ἐγὼ (I) κῆρυξ (a herald) καὶ (and) ἀπόστολος (an apostle)— ἀλήθειαν (the truth) λέγω (I am speaking); οὐ (not) ψεύδομαι (I do lie)— διδάσκαλος (a teacher) ἐθνῶν (of the Gentiles), ἐν (in) πίστει (faith) καὶ (and) ἀληθείᾳ (truth).

¹¹ εἰς (to) ὃ (which) ἐτέθην (was appointed) ἐγὼ (I) κήρυξ (a herald), καὶ (and) ἀπόστολος (an apostle), καὶ (and) διδάσκαλος (a teacher).

² καὶ (And) ἃ (the things which) ἤκουσας (you have heard) παρ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (me) διὰ (among) πολλῶν (many) μαρτύρων (witnesses), ταῦτα (these) παράθου (entrust) πιστοῖς (to faithful) ἀνθρώποις (men), οἵτινες (such as) ἱκανοὶ (sufficient) ἔσονται (will be) καὶ (also) ἑτέρους (others) διδάξαι (to teach).

⁵ Σὺ (You) δὲ (however), νῆφε (be sober) ἐν (in) πᾶσιν (all things), κακοπάθησον (endure afflictions), ἔργον (the work) ποίησον (do) εὐαγγελιστοῦ (of an evangelist), τὴν (the) διακονίαν (ministry) σου (of you) πληροφόρησον (fully carry out).

¹¹ Λουκᾶς (Luke) ἐστιν (is) μόνος (alone) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (me). Μᾶρκον (Mark) ἀναλαβὼν (having taken), ἄγε (bring him) μετὰ (with) σεαυτοῦ (you); ἔστιν (he is) γάρ (for) μοι (to me) εὔχρηστος (useful) εἰς (for) διακονίαν (the ministry).

⁴ Καὶ (And) οὐχ (not) ἑαυτῷ (upon himself) τις (anyone) λαμβάνει (takes) τὴν (the) τιμήν (honor), ἀλλὰ (but rather) καλούμενος (being called) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), καθώσπερ (just as) καὶ (also) Ἀαρών (Aaron).
