¹⁵ ἐγὼ (I) γὰρ (for) δώσω (will give) ὑμῖν (you) στόμα (a mouth) καὶ (and) σοφίαν (wisdom), ᾗ (which) οὐ (not) δυνήσονται (will be able) ἀντιστῆναι (to resist) ἢ (nor) ἀντειπεῖν (to reply to) ἅπαντες (all) οἱ (those) ἀντικείμενοι (opposing) ὑμῖν (you).

¹⁰ καὶ (and) ἐξείλατο (rescued) αὐτὸν (him) ἐκ (out of) πασῶν (all) τῶν (the) θλίψεων (tribulations) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) ἔδωκεν (gave) αὐτῷ (him) χάριν (favor) καὶ (and) σοφίαν (wisdom) ἐναντίον (before) Φαραὼ (Pharaoh), βασιλέως (king) Αἰγύπτου (of Egypt); καὶ (and) κατέστησεν (he appointed) αὐτὸν (him) ἡγούμενον (ruler) ἐπ’ (over) Αἴγυπτον (Egypt), καὶ (and) [ἐφ’] (over) ὅλον (all) τὸν (the) οἶκον (house) αὐτοῦ (of him).

²⁵ ἔδοξεν (it seemed good) ἡμῖν (to us) γενομένοις (having come) ὁμοθυμαδὸν (with one accord), ἐκλεξαμένοις* (having chosen) ἄνδρας (men), πέμψαι (to send) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), σὺν (with) τοῖς (the) ἀγαπητοῖς (beloved) ἡμῶν (of us), Βαρνάβᾳ (Barnabas) καὶ (and) Παύλῳ (Paul),

⁴ ἢ (Or) τοῦ (the) πλούτου (riches) τῆς (of the) χρηστότητος (kindness) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) τῆς (the) ἀνοχῆς (forbearance), καὶ (and) τῆς (the) μακροθυμίας (patience) καταφρονεῖς (despise you), ἀγνοῶν (not knowing) ὅτι (that) τὸ (the) χρηστὸν (kindness) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εἰς (to) μετάνοιάν (repentance) σε (you) ἄγει (leads)?

¹³ ἃ (which) καὶ (also) λαλοῦμεν (we speak), οὐκ (not) ἐν (in) διδακτοῖς (taught) ἀνθρωπίνης (of human) σοφίας (wisdom) λόγοις (words), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐν (in those) διδακτοῖς (taught) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit), πνευματικοῖς (by spiritual means) πνευματικὰ (spiritual things) συνκρίνοντες (communicating).

¹⁰ Κατὰ (According to) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τὴν (-) δοθεῖσάν (having been given) μοι (to me), ὡς (as) σοφὸς (a wise) ἀρχιτέκτων (master builder) θεμέλιον (the foundation) ἔθηκα (I have laid); ἄλλος (another) δὲ (however) ἐποικοδομεῖ (is building upon it). ἕκαστος (Each one) δὲ (however) βλεπέτω (let take heed) πῶς (how) ἐποικοδομεῖ (he builds upon it).

⁸ ᾧ (To one) μὲν (truly) γὰρ (for) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) δίδοται (is given) λόγος (a word) σοφίας (of wisdom), ἄλλῳ (to another) δὲ (now) λόγος (a word) γνώσεως (of knowledge), κατὰ (according to) τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) Πνεῦμα (Spirit),

³ ὅτι (that) κατὰ (by) ἀποκάλυψιν (revelation) ἐγνωρίσθη (He made known) μοι (to me) τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery), καθὼς (just as) προέγραψα (I have written before) ἐν (in) ὀλίγῳ (brief),

¹⁶ ἀλλὰ (But) διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), ἠλεήθην (I was shown mercy), ἵνα (that) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (me), πρώτῳ (the foremost), ἐνδείξηται (might display) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) Χριστὸς (Christ) τὴν (-) ἅπασαν (perfect) μακροθυμίαν (patience), πρὸς (as) ὑποτύπωσιν (a pattern) τῶν (for those) μελλόντων (being about) πιστεύειν (to believe) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτῷ (Him), εἰς (to) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal).

⁵ Εἰ (If) δέ (now) τις (any) ὑμῶν (of you) λείπεται (lacks) σοφίας (wisdom), αἰτείτω (let him ask) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the One) διδόντος (giving), Θεοῦ (God), πᾶσιν (to all) ἁπλῶς (generously), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ὀνειδίζοντος (finding fault), καὶ (and) δοθήσεται (it will be given) αὐτῷ (to him).

¹⁷ Ἡ (-) δὲ (But) ἄνωθεν (the from above) σοφία (wisdom) πρῶτον (first) μὲν (indeed) ἁγνή (pure) ἐστιν (is), ἔπειτα (then) εἰρηνική (peaceable), ἐπιεικής (gentle), εὐπειθής (reasonable), μεστὴ (full) ἐλέους (of mercy) καὶ (and) καρπῶν (of fruits) ἀγαθῶν (good), ἀδιάκριτος (impartial), ἀνυπόκριτος (sincere).

²⁰ ἀπειθήσασίν (having disobeyed) ποτε (at one time), ὅτε (when) ἀπεξεδέχετο (was waiting) ἡ (the) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) μακροθυμία (longsuffering) ἐν (in) ἡμέραις (the days) Νῶε (of Noah), κατασκευαζομένης (being prepared) κιβωτοῦ (of the ark), εἰς (in) ἣν (which) ὀλίγοι (a few) — τοῦτ’ (that) ἔστιν (is), ὀκτὼ (eight) ψυχαί (souls) — διεσώθησαν (were saved) δι’ (through) ὕδατος (water),

⁹ οὐ (Not) βραδύνει (does delay) Κύριος (the Lord) τῆς (the) ἐπαγγελίας (promise), ὥς (as) τινες (some) βραδύτητα (slowness) ἡγοῦνται (esteem), ἀλλὰ (but) μακροθυμεῖ (is patient) εἰς (toward) ὑμᾶς (you), μὴ (not) βουλόμενός (willing) τινας (for any) ἀπολέσθαι (to perish), ἀλλὰ (but) πάντας (all) εἰς (to) μετάνοιαν (repentance) χωρῆσαι (to come).
