¹¹ Γέγονα (I have become) ἄφρων (a fool); ὑμεῖς (you) με (me) ἠναγκάσατε (compelled). ἐγὼ (I) γὰρ (for) ὤφειλον (ought) ὑφ’ (by) ὑμῶν (you) συνίστασθαι (to have been commended). οὐδὲν (In no way) γὰρ (for) ὑστέρησα (was I inferior) τῶν (to those) “Ὑπερλίαν (most eminent) ἀποστόλων (apostles),” εἰ (though) καὶ (even) οὐδέν (nothing) εἰμι (I am).

¹⁰ οὕτως (Thus) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you), ὅταν (when) ποιήσητε (you may have done) πάντα (all) τὰ (the things) διαταχθέντα (having been commanded) ὑμῖν (you), λέγετε (say) ὅτι (-), ‘Δοῦλοι (Servants) ἀχρεῖοί (unworthy) ἐσμεν (are we); ὃ (that which) ὠφείλομεν (we were bound) ποιῆσαι (to do), πεποιήκαμεν (we have done).’”

⁴ ὅταν (When) γὰρ (for) λέγῃ (might say) τις (one), “Ἐγὼ (I) μέν (indeed) εἰμι (am) Παύλου (of Paul),” ἕτερος (another) δέ (however), “Ἐγὼ (I) Ἀπολλῶ (of Apollos),” οὐκ (not) ἄνθρωποί (fleshly) ἐστε (are you)? ⁵ Τί (Who) οὖν (then) ἐστιν (is) Ἀπολλῶς (Apollos)? τί (Who) δέ (now) ἐστιν (is) Παῦλος (Paul)? διάκονοι (Servants) δι’ (through) ὧν (whom) ἐπιστεύσατε (you believed), καὶ (also) ἑκάστῳ (to each) ὡς (as) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) ἔδωκεν (has given)? ⁶ ἐγὼ (I) ἐφύτευσα (planted), Ἀπολλῶς (Apollos) ἐπότισεν (watered), ἀλλὰ (but) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ηὔξανεν (kept it growing). ⁷ ὥστε (So) οὔτε (neither) ὁ (the one) φυτεύων (planting) ἐστίν (is) τι (anything), οὔτε (nor) ὁ (the one) ποτίζων (watering), ἀλλ’ (but only) ὁ (the One) αὐξάνων (giving growth)— Θεός (God).

²² εἴτε (whether) Παῦλος (Paul), εἴτε (or) Ἀπολλῶς (Apollos), εἴτε (or) Κηφᾶς (Cephas), εἴτε (or the) κόσμος (world), εἴτε (or) ζωὴ (life), εἴτε (or) θάνατος (death), εἴτε (or) ἐνεστῶτα (things present), εἴτε (or) μέλλοντα (things to come)— πάντα (all) ὑμῶν (yours),

⁸ ἔσχατον (Last) δὲ (then) πάντων (of all), ὡσπερεὶ (as) τῷ (the) ἐκτρώματι (untimely birth), ὤφθη (He appeared) κἀμοί (also to me). ⁹ Ἐγὼ (I) γάρ (for) εἰμι (am) ὁ (the) ἐλάχιστος (least) τῶν (of the) ἀποστόλων (apostles), ὃς (who) οὐκ (not) εἰμὶ (am) ἱκανὸς (fit) καλεῖσθαι (to be called) ἀπόστολος (an apostle), διότι (because) ἐδίωξα (I persecuted) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ¹⁰ χάριτι (By the grace) δὲ (however) Θεοῦ (of God), εἰμι (I am) ὅ (what) εἰμι (I am), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) χάρις (grace) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἡ (-) εἰς (toward) ἐμὲ (me) οὐ (not) κενὴ (void) ἐγενήθη (has been). ἀλλὰ (Rather), περισσότερον (more abundantly) αὐτῶν (than them) πάντων (all) ἐκοπίασα (I toiled), οὐκ (not) ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however), ἀλλὰ (but) ἡ (the) χάρις (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ‹ἡ› (that was) σὺν (with) ἐμοί (me).

⁶ Εἴτε (If) δὲ (however) θλιβόμεθα (we are constricted), ὑπὲρ (it is for) τῆς (-) ὑμῶν (your) παρακλήσεως (comfort) καὶ (and) σωτηρίας (salvation); εἴτε (if) παρακαλούμεθα (we are encouraged), ὑπὲρ (it is for) τῆς (-) ὑμῶν (your) παρακλήσεως (comfort), τῆς (-) ἐνεργουμένης (operating) ἐν (in) ὑπομονῇ (the endurance) τῶν (of the) αὐτῶν (same) παθημάτων (sufferings) ὧν (that) καὶ (also) ἡμεῖς (we) πάσχομεν (suffer).

¹ Ὄφελον (I wish) ἀνείχεσθέ (you were bearing with) μου (me) μικρόν (little) τι (a) ἀφροσύνης (in foolishness), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (indeed) ἀνέχεσθέ (you do bear with) μου (me).

⁵ Λογίζομαι (I reckon) γὰρ (for) μηδὲν (in nothing) ὑστερηκέναι (to have been inferior) τῶν (to those) “Ὑπερλίαν (most eminent) ἀποστόλων (apostles).”

¹⁶ Πάλιν (Again) λέγω (I say), μή (no) τίς (one) με (me) δόξῃ (should think) ἄφρονα (a fool) εἶναι (to be); εἰ (if) δὲ (however) μή¦γε (otherwise) κἂν (even) ὡς (as) ἄφρονα (a fool) δέξασθέ (receive) με (me), ἵνα (that) κἀγὼ (I also) μικρόν (little) τι (a) καυχήσωμαι (may boast). ¹⁷ ὃ (What) λαλῶ (I am saying), οὐ (not) κατὰ (according to) Κύριον (the Lord) λαλῶ (am I saying), ἀλλ’ (but) ὡς (as) ἐν (in) ἀφροσύνῃ (foolishness), ἐν (in) ταύτῃ (this) τῇ (the) ὑποστάσει (confidence) τῆς (-) καυχήσεως (of boasting).

⁶ ἐὰν (If) γὰρ (for) θελήσω (I should desire) καυχήσασθαι (to boast), οὐκ (not) ἔσομαι (I will be) ἄφρων (a fool); ἀλήθειαν (the truth) γὰρ (for) ἐρῶ (I will be speaking). φείδομαι (I refrain) δέ (however), μή (lest) τις (anyone) εἰς (to) ἐμὲ (me) λογίσηται (should credit) ὑπὲρ (more than) ὃ (what) βλέπει (he sees) με (in me), ἢ (or) ἀκούει (hears) ‹τι› (anyone) ἐξ (of) ἐμοῦ (me),

¹² τὰ (The) μὲν (indeed) σημεῖα (signs) τοῦ (of the) ἀποστόλου (apostle) κατειργάσθη (were performed) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (all) ὑπομονῇ (perseverance), σημείοις (in signs) τε (both), καὶ (and) τέρασιν (wonders), καὶ (and) δυνάμεσιν (miracles).

⁶ Ἀπὸ (Of) δὲ (now) τῶν (those) δοκούντων (esteemed) εἶναί (to be) τι (something)— ὁποῖοί (whatsoever) ποτε (formerly) ἦσαν (they were), οὐδέν (not) μοι (to me) διαφέρει (makes a difference); πρόσωπον (the person) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἀνθρώπου (of a man) οὐ (not) λαμβάνει (does accept)— ἐμοὶ (to me) γὰρ (for) οἱ (the) δοκοῦντες (esteemed) οὐδὲν (nothing) προσανέθεντο (added). ⁷ ἀλλὰ (But) τοὐναντίον (on the contrary), ἰδόντες (having seen) ὅτι (that) πεπίστευμαι (I have been entrusted with) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τῆς (of the) ἀκροβυστίας (uncircumcision), καθὼς (just as) Πέτρος (Peter with that) τῆς (of the) περιτομῆς (circumcision) — ⁸ ὁ (the One) γὰρ (for) ἐνεργήσας (having worked) Πέτρῳ (in Peter) εἰς (for) ἀποστολὴν (apostleship) τῆς (of the) περιτομῆς (circumcision) ἐνήργησεν (did) καὶ (also) ἐμοὶ (in me) εἰς (toward) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) — ⁹ καὶ (and) γνόντες (having known) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τὴν (-) δοθεῖσάν (having been given) μοι (to me), Ἰάκωβος (James) καὶ (and) Κηφᾶς (Cephas) καὶ (and) Ἰωάννης (John), οἱ (those) δοκοῦντες (esteemed) στῦλοι (pillars) εἶναι (to be), δεξιὰς (the right hands) ἔδωκαν (gave) ἐμοὶ (to me) καὶ (and) Βαρνάβα (Barnabas), κοινωνίας (of fellowship), ἵνα (that) ἡμεῖς (we should go) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles); αὐτοὶ (they) δὲ (however) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) περιτομήν (circumcision). ¹⁰ μόνον (Only they asked) τῶν (the) πτωχῶν (poor) ἵνα (that) μνημονεύωμεν (we should remember), ὃ (that) καὶ (also) ἐσπούδασα (I was eager) αὐτὸ (the same) τοῦτο (thing) ποιῆσαι (to do). ¹¹ Ὅτε (When) δὲ (however) ἦλθεν (came) Κηφᾶς (Peter) εἰς (to) Ἀντιόχειαν (Antioch), κατὰ (to) πρόσωπον (face) αὐτῷ (his) ἀντέστην (I opposed him), ὅτι (because) κατεγνωσμένος (condemned) ἦν (he stood). ¹² πρὸ (Before) τοῦ (-) γὰρ (for), ἐλθεῖν (came) τινας (certain ones) ἀπὸ (from) Ἰακώβου (James), μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) ἐθνῶν (Gentiles) συνήσθιεν (he was eating); ὅτε (when) δὲ (however) ἦλθον (they came), ὑπέστελλεν (he was drawing back) καὶ (and) ἀφώριζεν (was separating) ἑαυτόν (himself), φοβούμενος (being afraid of) τοὺς (those) ἐκ (of) περιτομῆς (the circumcision). ¹³ καὶ (And) συνυπεκρίθησαν (acted hypocritically) αὐτῷ (with him) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) λοιποὶ (rest) Ἰουδαῖοι (of the Jews), ὥστε (so that) καὶ (even) Βαρνάβας (Barnabas) συναπήχθη (was carried away) αὐτῶν (of them) τῇ (by the) ὑποκρίσει (hypocrisy). ¹⁴ Ἀλλ’ (But) ὅτε (when) εἶδον (I saw) ὅτι (that) οὐκ (not) ὀρθοποδοῦσιν (they are walking uprightly) πρὸς (according to) τὴν (the) ἀλήθειαν (truth) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel), εἶπον (I said) τῷ (-) Κηφᾷ (to Peter) ἔμπροσθεν (before) πάντων (all), “Εἰ (If) σὺ (you), Ἰουδαῖος (a Jew) ὑπάρχων (being), ἐθνικῶς (like a Gentile) καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) Ἰουδαϊκῶς (like a Jew) ζῇς (live), πῶς (why) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) ἀναγκάζεις (do you compel) ἰουδαΐζειν (to Judaize)?

⁸ Ἐμοὶ (To me), τῷ (the) ἐλαχιστοτέρῳ (very least) πάντων (of all) ἁγίων (saints), ἐδόθη (was given) ἡ (the) χάρις (grace) αὕτη (this): τοῖς (to the) ἔθνεσιν (Gentiles) εὐαγγελίσασθαι (to preach) τὸ (the) ἀνεξιχνίαστον (unsearchable) πλοῦτος (riches) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ),
