¹² χαίρετε (Rejoice) καὶ (and) ἀγαλλιᾶσθε (exult), ὅτι (for) ὁ (the) μισθὸς (reward) ὑμῶν (of you) πολὺς (is great) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens); οὕτως (thus) γὰρ (for) ἐδίωξαν (they persecuted) τοὺς (the) προφήτας (prophets) τοὺς (-) πρὸ (before) ὑμῶν (you).

²⁷ μέλλει (Is about) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (of the) ἀνθρώπου (man) ἔρχεσθαι (to come) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) δόξῃ (glory) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father) αὐτοῦ (of Him), μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) ἀγγέλων (angels) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) τότε (then) ἀποδώσει (He will give) ἑκάστῳ (to each) κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) πρᾶξιν (deeds) αὐτοῦ (of him).

²¹ Ἔφη (Said) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (the) κύριος (master) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ‘Εὖ (Well done), δοῦλε (servant) ἀγαθὲ (good) καὶ (and) πιστέ (faithful)! ἐπὶ (Over) ὀλίγα (a few things) ἦς (you were) πιστός (faithful); ἐπὶ (over) πολλῶν (many things) σε (you) καταστήσω (will I set). εἴσελθε (Enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) χαρὰν (joy) τοῦ (of the) κυρίου (master) σου (of you)!’

²³ Ἔφη (Said) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (the) κύριος (master) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ‘Εὖ (Well done), δοῦλε (servant) ἀγαθὲ (good) καὶ (and) πιστέ (faithful)! ἐπὶ (Over) ὀλίγα (a few things) ἦς (you were) πιστός (faithful); ἐπὶ (over) πολλῶν (many things) σε (you) καταστήσω (will I set). εἴσελθε (Enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) χαρὰν (joy) τοῦ (of the) κυρίου (master) σου (of you)!’

³¹ Ὅταν (When) δὲ (then) ἔλθῃ (comes) ὁ (the) υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) δόξῃ (glory) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) πάντες (all) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him), τότε (then) καθίσει (He will sit) ἐπὶ (upon the) θρόνου (throne) δόξης (of glory) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

³⁴ Τότε (Then) ἐρεῖ (will say) ὁ (the) Βασιλεὺς (King) τοῖς (to those) ἐκ (on) δεξιῶν (the right hand) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ‘Δεῦτε (Come), οἱ (those) εὐλογημένοι (being blessed) τοῦ (of the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of me), κληρονομήσατε (inherit) τὴν (the) ἡτοιμασμένην (having been prepared) ὑμῖν (for you) βασιλείαν (kingdom) ἀπὸ (from the) καταβολῆς (foundation) κόσμου (of the world).

³⁸ ὃς (Whoever) γὰρ (for) ἐὰν (if) ἐπαισχυνθῇ (may be ashamed of) με (Me) καὶ (and) τοὺς (-) ἐμοὺς (My) λόγους (words) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) γενεᾷ (generation) ταύτῃ (this) τῇ (-) μοιχαλίδι (adulterous) καὶ (and) ἁμαρτωλῷ (sinful), καὶ (also) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ἐπαισχυνθήσεται (will be ashamed of) αὐτὸν (him) ὅταν (when) ἔλθῃ (He shall come) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) δόξῃ (glory) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father) αὐτοῦ (of Him), μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) ἀγγέλων (angels) τῶν (-) ἁγίων (holy).”

²² Μακάριοί (Blessed) ἐστε (are you) ὅταν (when) μισήσωσιν (shall hate) ὑμᾶς (you) οἱ (-) ἄνθρωποι (men), καὶ (and) ὅταν (when) ἀφορίσωσιν (they shall exclude) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) ὀνειδίσωσιν (shall insult you), καὶ (and) ἐκβάλωσιν (shall cast out) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) ὑμῶν (of you) ὡς (as) πονηρὸν (evil), ἕνεκα (on account of) τοῦ (the) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man). ²³ χάρητε (Rejoice) ἐν (in) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (-) ἡμέρᾳ (day), καὶ (and) σκιρτήσατε (leap for joy); ἰδοὺ (behold) γὰρ (for), ὁ (the) μισθὸς (reward) ὑμῶν (of you) πολὺς (is great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven). κατὰ (According to) τὰ (these things) αὐτὰ (of them) γὰρ (for) ἐποίουν (used to treat) τοῖς (the) προφήταις (prophets) οἱ (the) πατέρες (fathers) αὐτῶν (likewise).

³⁰ Κατὰ (According) τὰ (-) αὐτὰ (to these) ἔσται (will it be) ᾗ (in that) ἡμέρᾳ (day) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ἀποκαλύπτεται (is revealed).

⁴¹ Οἱ (They) μὲν (indeed) οὖν (therefore) ἐπορεύοντο (departed), χαίροντες (rejoicing), ἀπὸ (from) προσώπου (the presence) τοῦ (of the) συνεδρίου (Council), ὅτι (that) κατηξιώθησαν (they had been counted worthy) ὑπὲρ (for) τοῦ (the) Ὀνόματος (Name) ἀτιμασθῆναι (to suffer dishonor).

²⁵ Κατὰ (Toward) δὲ (now) τὸ (-) μεσονύκτιον (midnight), Παῦλος (Paul) καὶ (and) Σιλᾶς (Silas), προσευχόμενοι (praying), ὕμνουν (were singing praises to) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God). ἐπηκροῶντο (Were listening) δὲ (now) αὐτῶν (to them) οἱ (the) δέσμιοι (prisoners).

³ Οὐ (Not) μόνον (only so) δέ (now), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) καυχώμεθα (we glory) ἐν (in) ταῖς (-) θλίψεσιν (tribulations), εἰδότες (knowing) ὅτι (that) ἡ (-) θλῖψις (tribulation), ὑπομονὴν (perseverance) κατεργάζεται (produces);

¹⁷ εἰ (If) δὲ (now) τέκνα (children), καὶ (also) κληρονόμοι (heirs), κληρονόμοι (heirs) μὲν (indeed) Θεοῦ (of God), συνκληρονόμοι (joint-heirs) δὲ (now) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), εἴπερ (if indeed) συμπάσχομεν (we suffer with Him), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (also) συνδοξασθῶμεν (we may be glorified together).

⁷ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) ἐλπὶς (hope) ἡμῶν (of us) βεβαία (is steadfast) ὑπὲρ (for) ὑμῶν (you), εἰδότες (knowing) ὅτι (that) ὡς (as) κοινωνοί (partners) ἐστε (you are) τῶν (of the) παθημάτων (sufferings), οὕτως (so) καὶ (also) τῆς (of the) παρακλήσεως (comfort).

¹⁰ πάντοτε (always) τὴν (the) νέκρωσιν (death) τοῦ (-) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) ἐν (in) τῷ (our) σώματι (body) περιφέροντες (carrying around), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (also) ἡ (the) ζωὴ (life) τοῦ (-) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) σώματι (body) ἡμῶν (of us) φανερωθῇ (should be manifested);

¹⁷ τὸ (The) γὰρ (for) παραυτίκα (momentary) ἐλαφρὸν (lightness) τῆς (-) θλίψεως (affliction) ‹ἡμῶν› (of us), καθ’ (far) ὑπερβολὴν (surpassing) εἰς (to) ὑπερβολὴν (excessiveness) αἰώνιον (an eternal) βάρος (weight) δόξης (of glory) κατεργάζεται (is producing) ἡμῖν (for us),

⁹ καὶ (And) εἴρηκέν (He said) μοι (to me), “Ἀρκεῖ (Suffices) σοι (you) ἡ (the) χάρις (grace) μου (of Me); ἡ (the) γὰρ (for) δύναμις (power) ἐν (in) ἀσθενείᾳ (weakness) τελεῖται (is perfected).” Ἥδιστα (Most gladly) οὖν (therefore) μᾶλλον (rather) καυχήσομαι (will I boast) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἀσθενείαις (weaknesses) ‹μου› (of me), ἵνα (so that) ἐπισκηνώσῃ (may rest) ἐπ’ (upon) ἐμὲ (me) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ). ¹⁰ διὸ (Therefore) εὐδοκῶ (I take pleasure) ἐν (in) ἀσθενείαις (weaknesses), ἐν (in) ὕβρεσιν (insults), ἐν (in) ἀνάγκαις (hardships), ἐν (in) διωγμοῖς (persecutions), καὶ (and) στενοχωρίαις (difficulties) ὑπὲρ (for) Χριστοῦ (Christ); ὅταν (when) γὰρ (for) ἀσθενῶ (I might be weak), τότε (then) δυνατός (strong) εἰμι (I am).

¹⁰ τοῦ (-) γνῶναι (to know) αὐτὸν (Him) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power) τῆς (of the) ἀναστάσεως (resurrection) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) [τὴν] (the) κοινωνίαν (fellowship) [τῶν] (of) παθημάτων (sufferings) αὐτοῦ (of Him), συμμορφιζόμενος (being conformed) τῷ (to the) θανάτῳ (death) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

¹² εἰ (if) ὑπομένομεν (we endure), καὶ (also) συμβασιλεύσομεν* (we will reign together with Him); εἰ (if) ἀρνησόμεθα (we will deny Him), κἀκεῖνος (He also) ἀρνήσεται (will deny) ἡμᾶς (us);

² Πᾶσαν (All) χαρὰν (joy) ἡγήσασθε (esteem it), ἀδελφοί (brothers) μου (of me), ὅταν (when) πειρασμοῖς (trials) περιπέσητε (you might fall into) ποικίλοις (various), ³ γινώσκοντες (knowing) ὅτι (that) τὸ (the) δοκίμιον (testing) ὑμῶν (of your) τῆς (-) πίστεως (faith) κατεργάζεται (produces) ὑπομονήν (endurance).

⁵ τοὺς (who) ἐν (by) δυνάμει (the power) Θεοῦ (of God) φρουρουμένους (are being guarded) διὰ (through) πίστεως (faith), εἰς (for) σωτηρίαν (the salvation) ἑτοίμην (ready) ἀποκαλυφθῆναι (to be revealed) ἐν (in) καιρῷ (the time) ἐσχάτῳ (last), ⁶ ἐν (in) ᾧ (which) ἀγαλλιᾶσθε (you greatly rejoice), ὀλίγον (for a little while) ἄρτι (at present), εἰ (if) δέον (being necessary) [ἐστὶν] (it is), λυπηθέντες (having been put to grief) ἐν (by) ποικίλοις (various) πειρασμοῖς (trials), ⁷ ἵνα (so that) τὸ (the) δοκίμιον (proven genuineness) ὑμῶν (of your) τῆς (-) πίστεως (faith), πολυτιμότερον (more precious) χρυσίου (than gold), τοῦ (-) ἀπολλυμένου (perishing), διὰ (by) πυρὸς (fire) δὲ (though) δοκιμαζομένου (being refined), εὑρεθῇ (may be discovered) εἰς (to result in) ἔπαινον (praise) καὶ (and) δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) τιμὴν (honor) ἐν (in) ἀποκαλύψει (the revelation) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ⁸ ὃν (whom) οὐκ (not) ἰδόντες (having seen) ἀγαπᾶτε (you love), εἰς (on) ὃν (whom) ἄρτι (now though) μὴ (not) ὁρῶντες (seeing) πιστεύοντες (believing) δὲ (now) ἀγαλλιᾶσθε (you exult) χαρᾷ (with joy) ἀνεκλαλήτῳ (inexpressible) καὶ (and) δεδοξασμένῃ (filled with glory),

¹³ Διὸ (Therefore) ἀναζωσάμενοι (having girded up) τὰς (the) ὀσφύας (loins) τῆς (of the) διανοίας (mind) ὑμῶν (of you), νήφοντες (being sober-minded), τελείως (fully) ἐλπίσατε (set your hope) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) φερομένην (being brought) ὑμῖν (to you) χάριν (grace) ἐν (in) ἀποκαλύψει (the revelation) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ),

¹ Πρεσβυτέρους (Elders) [τοὺς] (-) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you), παρακαλῶ (I exhort), ὁ (-) συμπρεσβύτερος (a fellow elder) καὶ (and) μάρτυς (witness) τῶν (of the) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) παθημάτων (sufferings), ὁ (who am) καὶ (also) τῆς (of the) μελλούσης (being about) ἀποκαλύπτεσθαι (to be revealed) δόξης (glory) κοινωνός (partaker):

¹⁰ Ὁ (The) δὲ (now) Θεὸς (God) πάσης (of all) χάριτος (grace), ὁ (the one) καλέσας (having called) ὑμᾶς (you) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) αἰώνιον (eternal) αὐτοῦ (of Him) δόξαν (glory) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ), ὀλίγον (a little while) παθόντας (of you having suffered), αὐτὸς (He Himself) καταρτίσει (will perfect), στηρίξει (will confirm), σθενώσει (will strengthen), θεμελιώσει (and will establish you).

⁷ Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἔρχεται (He is coming) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) νεφελῶν (clouds), καὶ (and) ὄψεται (will see) αὐτὸν (Him) πᾶς (every) ὀφθαλμὸς (eye), καὶ (and) οἵτινες (those who) αὐτὸν (Him) ἐξεκέντησαν (pierced), καὶ (and) κόψονται (will wail) ἐπ’ (because of) αὐτὸν (Him) πᾶσαι (all) αἱ (the) φυλαὶ (tribes) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth). ναί (Yes)! ἀμήν (Amen)!

⁹ Ἐγὼ (I) Ἰωάννης (John), ὁ (the) ἀδελφὸς (brother) ὑμῶν (of you), καὶ (and) συνκοινωνὸς (fellow-partaker) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) θλίψει (tribulation) καὶ (and) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) καὶ (and) ὑπομονῇ (endurance) ἐν (in) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), ἐγενόμην (was) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) νήσῳ (island) τῇ (-) καλουμένῃ (called) Πάτμῳ (Patmos), διὰ (on account of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus).
