¹ Περὶ (Concerning) δὲ (now) τῆς (the) λογείας* (collection) τῆς (which is) εἰς (for) τοὺς (the) ἁγίους (saints), ὥσπερ (as) διέταξα (I have directed) ταῖς (the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches) τῆς (-) Γαλατίας (of Galatia), οὕτως (so) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you) ποιήσατε (are to do).

¹³ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) δὲ (but) Ἁνανίας (Ananias), “Κύριε (Lord), ἤκουσα (I have heard) ἀπὸ (from) πολλῶν (many) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) ἀνδρὸς (man) τούτου (this), ὅσα (how many) κακὰ (evils) τοῖς (to) ἁγίοις (saints) σου (of You) ἐποίησεν (he did) ἐν (in) Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem);

⁴¹ δοὺς (Having given) δὲ (then) αὐτῇ (her) χεῖρα (his hand), ἀνέστησεν (he raised up) αὐτήν (her). φωνήσας (Having called) δὲ (then) τοὺς (the) ἁγίους (saints) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) χήρας (widows), παρέστησεν (he presented) αὐτὴν (her) ζῶσαν (living).

²⁸ ἀναστὰς (Having risen up) δὲ (now) εἷς (one) ἐξ (of) αὐτῶν (them) ὀνόματι (named) Ἅγαβος (Agabus), ἐσήμανεν (he signified) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit that) λιμὸν (a famine) μεγάλην (great) μέλλειν (is about) ἔσεσθαι (to be) ἐφ’ (over) ὅλην (all) τὴν (the) οἰκουμένην (world)— ἥτις (which) ἐγένετο (came to pass) ἐπὶ (under) Κλαυδίου (Claudius).

³⁰ ὃ (which) καὶ (also) ἐποίησαν (they did), ἀποστείλαντες (having sent it) πρὸς (to) τοὺς (the) πρεσβυτέρους (elders) διὰ (by the) χειρὸς (hand) Βαρνάβα (of Barnabas) καὶ (and) Σαύλου (Saul).

⁶ Διῆλθον (Having passed through) δὲ (then) τὴν (-) Φρυγίαν (Phrygia) καὶ (and) Γαλατικὴν (the Galatian) χώραν (region), κωλυθέντες (having been forbidden) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit) λαλῆσαι (to speak) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Ἀσίᾳ (Asia),

²³ Καὶ (And) ποιήσας (having stayed) χρόνον (time) τινὰ (some), ἐξῆλθεν (he went forth), διερχόμενος (passing through) καθεξῆς (successively) τὴν (the) Γαλατικὴν (Galatian) χώραν (region) καὶ (and) Φρυγίαν (Phrygia), στηρίζων (strengthening) πάντας (all) τοὺς (the) μαθητάς (disciples).

¹⁷ Δι’ (After) ἐτῶν (years) δὲ (now) πλειόνων (many), ἐλεημοσύνας (alms) ποιήσων (to bring) εἰς (to) τὸ (the) ἔθνος (nation) μου (of me), παρεγενόμην (I arrived), καὶ (and) προσφοράς (offerings),

¹³ ταῖς (to the) χρείαις (needs) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints) κοινωνοῦντες (contributing), τὴν (-) φιλοξενίαν (hospitality) διώκοντες (pursuing).

²⁵ Νυνὶ (Now) δὲ (however) πορεύομαι (I am going) εἰς (to) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem), διακονῶν (ministering) τοῖς (to the) ἁγίοις (saints). ²⁶ εὐδόκησαν* (Were pleased) γὰρ (for) Μακεδονία (Macedonia) καὶ (and) Ἀχαΐα (Achaia) κοινωνίαν (a contribution) τινὰ (certain) ποιήσασθαι (to make) εἰς (for) τοὺς (the) πτωχοὺς (poor) τῶν (among the) ἁγίων (saints) τῶν (-) ἐν (in) Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem).

¹ Γνωρίζομεν (We make known) δὲ (now) ὑμῖν (to you), ἀδελφοί (brothers), τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τὴν (-) δεδομένην (having been bestowed) ἐν (among) ταῖς (the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches) τῆς (-) Μακεδονίας (of Macedonia), ² ὅτι (that) ἐν (in) πολλῇ (much) δοκιμῇ (proof) θλίψεως (of tribulation), ἡ (the) περισσεία (abundance) τῆς (of the) χαρᾶς (joy) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) κατὰ (of) βάθους (deep) πτωχεία (poverty) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐπερίσσευσεν (abounded) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) πλοῦτος (riches) τῆς (the) ἁπλότητος (generosity) αὐτῶν (of them). ³ ὅτι (For) κατὰ (according to) δύναμιν (their ability), μαρτυρῶ (I testify that), καὶ (and) παρὰ (beyond) δύναμιν (their ability), αὐθαίρετοι (they were willing of themselves), ⁴ μετὰ (with) πολλῆς (much) παρακλήσεως (entreaty) δεόμενοι (imploring) ἡμῶν (of us), τὴν (for the) χάριν (grace) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) κοινωνίαν (fellowship) τῆς (of the) διακονίας (service) τῆς (-) εἰς (among) τοὺς (the) ἁγίους (saints). ⁵ καὶ (And) οὐ (not only) καθὼς (as) ἠλπίσαμεν (we had hoped), ἀλλ’* (but) ἑαυτοὺς (themselves) ἔδωκαν (they gave), πρῶτον (first) τῷ (to the) Κυρίῳ (Lord), καὶ (and then) ἡμῖν (to us), διὰ (by the) θελήματος (will) Θεοῦ (of God). ⁶ Εἰς (Accordingly) τὸ (-) παρακαλέσαι (exhorted) ἡμᾶς (we) Τίτον (Titus), ἵνα (that) καθὼς (as) προενήρξατο (he had begun), οὕτως (so) καὶ (also) ἐπιτελέσῃ (he might complete) εἰς (with) ὑμᾶς (you) καὶ (as well), τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) ταύτην (this). ⁷ ἀλλ’ (But) ὥσπερ (even as) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every way) περισσεύετε (you abound), πίστει (in faith), καὶ (and) λόγῳ (speech), καὶ (and) γνώσει (knowledge), καὶ (and) πάσῃ (all) σπουδῇ (earnestness), καὶ (and) τῇ (in the) ἐξ (from) ἡμῶν (us) ἐν (to) ὑμῖν (you) ἀγάπῃ (love), ἵνα (that) καὶ (also) ἐν (in) ταύτῃ (this) τῇ (-) χάριτι (grace) περισσεύητε (you should abound). ⁸ Οὐ (Not) κατ’ (as) ἐπιταγὴν (a command) λέγω (do I speak), ἀλλὰ (but) διὰ (through) τῆς (the) ἑτέρων (of others) σπουδῆς (earnestness), καὶ (also) τὸ (the) τῆς (-) ὑμετέρας (of your) ἀγάπης (love) γνήσιον (genuineness) δοκιμάζων (proving). ⁹ Γινώσκετε (You know) γὰρ (for) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ὅτι (that) δι’ (for the sake of) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐπτώχευσεν (He became poor), πλούσιος (rich) ὤν (being), ἵνα (so that) ὑμεῖς (you) τῇ (-) ἐκείνου (through that) πτωχείᾳ (poverty) πλουτήσητε (might be enriched).

¹² ὅτι (For) ἡ (the) διακονία (ministry) τῆς (of the) λειτουργίας (service) ταύτης (this) οὐ (not) μόνον (only) ἐστὶν (is) προσαναπληροῦσα (completely filling up) τὰ (the) ὑστερήματα (needs) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) περισσεύουσα (is overflowing) διὰ (through) πολλῶν (many) εὐχαριστιῶν (thanksgivings) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God), ¹³ διὰ (through) τῆς (the) δοκιμῆς (proof) τῆς (of the) διακονίας (service) ταύτης (this), δοξάζοντες (they glorifying) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) ὑποταγῇ (submission) τῆς (of the) ὁμολογίας (of confession) ὑμῶν (of you) εἰς (to) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) καὶ (and) ἁπλότητι (the generosity) τῆς (of the) κοινωνίας (participation) εἰς (toward) αὐτοὺς (them) καὶ (and) εἰς (toward) πάντας (all); ¹⁴ καὶ (and) αὐτῶν (their) δεήσει (supplication) ὑπὲρ (is for) ὑμῶν (you), ἐπιποθούντων (a longing) ὑμᾶς (for you) διὰ (on account of) τὴν (the) ὑπερβάλλουσαν (surpassing) χάριν (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐφ’ (upon) ὑμῖν (you). ¹⁵ Χάρις (Thanks be) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) ἐπὶ (for) τῇ (the) ἀνεκδιηγήτῳ (indescribable) αὐτοῦ (of Him) δωρεᾷ (gift)!

² καὶ (and) οἱ (the) σὺν (with) ἐμοὶ (me) πάντες (all) ἀδελφοί (brothers), Ταῖς (To the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches) τῆς (-) Γαλατίας (of Galatia):

¹⁰ μόνον (Only they asked) τῶν (the) πτωχῶν (poor) ἵνα (that) μνημονεύωμεν (we should remember), ὃ (that) καὶ (also) ἐσπούδασα (I was eager) αὐτὸ (the same) τοῦτο (thing) ποιῆσαι (to do).

⁵ ἀκούων (hearing) σου (of your) τὴν (-) ἀγάπην (love) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) πίστιν (faith) ἣν (that) ἔχεις (you have) πρὸς (toward) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἰς (toward) πάντας (all) τοὺς (the) ἁγίους (saints),

⁷ χαρὰν (Joy) γὰρ (for) πολλὴν (great) ἔσχον (I have), καὶ (and) παράκλησιν (encouragement) ἐπὶ (by occasion of) τῇ (the) ἀγάπῃ (love) σου (of you), ὅτι (because) τὰ (the) σπλάγχνα (hearts) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints) ἀναπέπαυται (have been refreshed) διὰ (by) σοῦ (you), ἀδελφέ (brother).

¹⁰ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) ἄδικος (unjust is) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God), ἐπιλαθέσθαι (to forget) τοῦ (the) ἔργου (work) ὑμῶν (of you) καὶ (and) τῆς (the) ἀγάπης (love) ἧς (that) ἐνεδείξασθε (you have shown) εἰς (toward) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him), διακονήσαντες (having ministered) τοῖς (to the) ἁγίοις (saints) καὶ (and) διακονοῦντες (still ministering).

¹⁷ ὃς (Whoever) δ’ (now) ἂν (-) ἔχῃ (might have) τὸν (the) βίον (goods) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world), καὶ (and) θεωρῇ (might see) τὸν (the) ἀδελφὸν (brother) αὐτοῦ (of him) χρείαν (need) ἔχοντα (having), καὶ (and) κλείσῃ (might close up) τὰ (the) σπλάγχνα (heart) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτοῦ (him), πῶς (how) ἡ (the) ἀγάπη (love) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) μένει (abides) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him)?
