¹ Μιμηταί (Imitators) μου (of me) γίνεσθε (be), καθὼς (as) κἀγὼ (I also am) Χριστοῦ (of Christ).

² ἕκαστος (Each) ἡμῶν (of us) τῷ (the) πλησίον (neighbor) ἀρεσκέτω (let please), εἰς (unto) τὸ (the) ἀγαθὸν (good), πρὸς (for) οἰκοδομήν (edification). ³ καὶ (Even) γὰρ (for) ὁ (-) Χριστὸς (Christ) οὐχ (not) ἑαυτῷ (Himself) ἤρεσεν (pleased), ἀλλὰ (but) καθὼς (as) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Οἱ (The) ὀνειδισμοὶ (reproaches) τῶν (of those) ὀνειδιζόντων (reproaching) σε (You) ἐπέπεσαν (have fallen) ἐπ’ (on) ἐμέ (Me).”

¹⁶ παρακαλῶ (I exhort) οὖν (therefore) ὑμᾶς (you), μιμηταί (imitators) μου (of me) γίνεσθε (become).

³³ καθὼς (as) κἀγὼ (I also) πάντα (all) πᾶσιν (in all things) ἀρέσκω (please), μὴ (not) ζητῶν (seeking) τὸ (the) ἐμαυτοῦ (of myself) σύμφορον (profit), ἀλλὰ (but) τὸ (that) τῶν (of the) πολλῶν (many), ἵνα (that) σωθῶσιν (they may be saved).

¹ Γίνεσθε (Be) οὖν (therefore) μιμηταὶ (imitators) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὡς (as) τέκνα (children) ἀγαπητά (beloved), ² καὶ (and) περιπατεῖτε (walk) ἐν (in) ἀγάπῃ (love), καθὼς (just as) καὶ (also) ὁ (-) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἠγάπησεν (loved) ἡμᾶς* (us) καὶ (and) παρέδωκεν (gave up) ἑαυτὸν (himself) ὑπὲρ (for) ἡμῶν (us) προσφορὰν (as an offering) καὶ (and) θυσίαν (a sacrifice) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God), εἰς (into) ὀσμὴν (an aroma) εὐωδίας (of a sweet smell).

⁴ μὴ (not) τὰ (the things) ἑαυτῶν (of themselves) ἕκαστοι (each) σκοποῦντες (considering), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) τὰ (the things) ἑτέρων (of others) ἕκαστοι (each). ⁵ Τοῦτο (This) φρονεῖτε (let mind be) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) ὃ (which) καὶ (also) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus was):

¹⁷ Συμμιμηταί (Imitators together) μου (of me) γίνεσθε (be), ἀδελφοί (brothers), καὶ (and) σκοπεῖτε (observe) τοὺς (those) οὕτω* (thus) περιπατοῦντας (walking), καθὼς (as) ἔχετε (you have) τύπον (for a pattern) ἡμᾶς (us).

⁶ Καὶ (And) ὑμεῖς (you) μιμηταὶ (imitators) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐγενήθητε (became), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), δεξάμενοι (having received) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) ἐν (in) θλίψει (tribulation) πολλῇ (much), μετὰ (with) χαρᾶς (the joy) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy),

⁹ οὐχ (not) ὅτι (that) οὐκ (not) ἔχομεν (we have) ἐξουσίαν (the right), ἀλλ’ (but) ἵνα (that) ἑαυτοὺς (ourselves) τύπον (as an example) δῶμεν (we may offer) ὑμῖν (to you), εἰς (for) τὸ (-) μιμεῖσθαι (you to imitate) ἡμᾶς (us).

¹² ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) νωθροὶ (sluggish) γένησθε (you may be), μιμηταὶ (imitators) δὲ (however) τῶν (of those) διὰ (through) πίστεως (faith) καὶ (and) μακροθυμίας (patience) κληρονομούντων (inheriting) τὰς (the) ἐπαγγελίας (promises).
