¹⁶ He said to him again a second time: Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me? He said to him: Yes, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He said to him: Be a shepherd to my sheep.

⁶ And thou, Bethlehem, city of Judah, art by no means the least among the chiefs of Judah; for out of thee shall come a leader, that shall be a shepherd to my people Israel.

³² and all nations shall be gathered before him; and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats.

⁷² And again he denied, with an oath: I know not the man.

³ And he spoke this parable to them, saying: ⁴ What man of you that has a hundred sheep, and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the desert, and go after that which is lost, till he find it? ⁵ And when he finds it, he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, and says to them., Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost. ⁷ I say to you, That thus there shall be joy in heaven over one sinner that repents, more than over ninety-nine just persons, who need no repentance.

¹⁰ For the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

¹¹ I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. ¹² But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd, to whom the sheep do not belong, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep, and scatters them. ¹³ The hireling flees because he is a hireling, and cares not for the sheep. ¹⁴ I am the good shepherd, and I know my sheep, and am known by mine. ¹⁵ As the Father knows me, I also know the Father, and I lay down my life for the sheep. ¹⁶ And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold; those, also, must I bring, and they will hear my voice: and there shall be one flock, one shepherd.

¹⁷ Then the maid-servant who kept the door said to Peter: Are you not also one of the disciples of this man? He said: I am not.

²⁵ And Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. Then they said to him: Are not you also one of his disciples? He denied, and said: I am not.

²⁸ Therefore, take heed to yourselves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, that you be shepherds to the church of God, which he has purchased with his own blood.

²⁰ Now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, the great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the eternal covenant,

²⁵ For you were like sheep that had gone astray; but now you have returned to the shepherd and bishop of your souls.

² Act as shepherds to the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight, not by compulsion, but willingly; not for the sake of sordid gain, but from readiness of mind:

¹⁷ For the Lamb that is in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and will lead them to living fountains of water: and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
