⁷ But yet I tell you the truth: it is profitable for you that I go away. For if I go not away, the Paraclete will not come to you. But if I go away, I will send him to you.

²⁵ And I tell you, in truth, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up for three years and six months, so that a great famine was on all the land:

²⁷ But I say to you, of a truth, there are some of these who stand here that shall not taste of death till they see the kingdom of God.

⁴⁹ And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you. But do you remain in the city of Jerusalem, till you be clothed with power from on high.

³⁹ But this he spoke of the Spirit, which those who believe on him were about to receive; for the Holy Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

⁴⁵ But because I speak the truth, you believe me not. ⁴⁶ Which of you convicts me of sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me?

⁵⁰ nor do you consider that it is profitable for us, that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish. ⁵¹ But this he did not speak of himself; but being chief priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was about to die for the nation; ⁵² and not for the nation only, but that he should gather into one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you with myself, that where I am, you may be also.

¹⁶ and I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Paraclete, that he may dwell with you forever; ¹⁷ the Spirit of the truth, whom the world can not receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, because he dwells with you, and shall be in you.

²⁶ But the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I have spoken to you.

²⁸ You have heard that I said to you, I am going away, and am coming again to you. If you loved me, you would rejoice, because I go to the Father; for my Father is greater than I.

²⁶ But when the Paraclete has come, whom I will send to you from my Father, the Spirit of the truth, which proceeds from the Father, he will testify of me;

⁴ And calling them together, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of my Father, which, said he, you have heard from me; ⁵ for John indeed immersed in water, but you shall be immersed in the Holy Spirit, not many days hence.

³³ Therefore, having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from his Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you now see and hear.

³⁴ And Peter opened his mouth, and said: In truth, I perceive that God is no respecter of persons;

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good, to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

¹⁷ For our present light affliction works out for us an eternal fullness of glory, excelling all excellence, ls while we look not at the things that are seen, but at the things that are not seen: for the things seen are temporal; but the things not seen are eternal.

⁸ For which reason, the scripture says: When he ascended on high, he led captive a multitude of captives, and gave gifts to men. ⁹ But this He ascended what does it mean, but that he also descended into the lower earthly regions? ¹⁰ He that descended is also he that ascended high above all the heavens, that he might fill all things. ¹¹ And he himself gave some to be apostles, and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; ¹² for the complete instruction of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of the Christ, ¹³ till we all come to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to a measure of stature that fully develops the Christ;
