¹⁵ What, then, is it? I will pray with the spirit which is given to me, and I will pray with my understanding also. I will sing with the spirit that is given to me, and I will sing with my understanding also.

²³ But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeks such to worship him. ²⁴ God is spirit; and they that worship him, must worship him in spirit and in truth.

⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that, without ceasing, I make mention of you,

⁵ But if our unrighteousness causes God's plan of justifying men to be better known, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous, who inflicts punishment? I speak as a man.

³¹ What, then, shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

¹ I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. ² And be not conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may learn what the will of God is the good, and the acceptable, and the perfect.

¹⁹ What, then, do I say? That an idol is any thing? or, that what is sacrificed to an idol is any thing?

¹⁹ Yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may instruct others, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

¹⁷ Wherefore, be not ignorant, but understand what the will of the Lord is. ¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, in which is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit; ¹⁹ speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, ²⁰ giving thanks to our God and Father always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

¹⁸ praying with all prayer and supplication, at all times, in the Spirit; and to this end being watchful in all perseverance, and supplication for all the saints:

¹⁸ What difference does this make? Christ is, nevertheless, preached in every way, whether in pretense or in truth; and in this I rejoice, yes, and I will rejoice:

¹⁶ Let the word of the Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, by teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with gratitude in your hearts to the Lord.

²⁰ But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
