¹ Cultivate love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but rather that you may prophesy.

³⁰ What, then, shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not seek after justification, have obtained justification, even the justification which is by faith:

⁶ Since, then, we have gifts which differ according to the grace that is given to us, whether we have the gift of prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith;

¹⁹ Therefore, let us seek those things which belong to peace, and those which tend to mutual edification.

¹ But concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not wish you to be ignorant.

³¹ But seek earnestly the best gifts; and yet I show you a more excellent way.

¹³ And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the great est of these is love.

³ But he that prophesies speaks to men so as to build them up, to exhort and comfort them. ⁴ He that speaks in an unknown tongue, edifies himself; but he that prophesies, edifies the church. ⁵ I am willing, indeed, that you should all speak in tongues, but rather that you should prophesy; for greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, in order that the church may receive instruction.

²⁴ But if all prophesy, and there comes in an unbeliever, or an unlearned man, he is convinced by all, he is examined by all, ²⁵ and the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God, and report that God is really among you.

³⁷ If any one has the reputation of being a prophet, or spiritual man, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.

³⁹ Wherefore, brethren, earnestly desire to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

¹⁴ Let every thing be done by you in love.

³ Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly things in Christ,

²⁰ Despise not prophesyings.

¹⁴ Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given you according to prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.

¹⁰ having a good reputation for good works; if she has borne children, if she has entertained strangers, if she has washed the saints feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.

¹¹ But do you, man of God, shun these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, patience, meekness.

²² Shun youthful desires, and follow righteousness, faithfulness, love, peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

¹⁴ Follow peace with all, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord;

¹¹ let him turn from evil and do good: let him seek peace, and pursue it. ¹² For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry: but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. ¹³ And who is he that will harm you, if you be followers of that which is good?

⁷ and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.

¹¹ Beloved, do not imitate that which is evil, but that which is good. He that does good is of God: he that does evil has not seen God.
