⁴ I sought Jehovah, and he answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears.

¹ And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me any more in all the borders of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.

² and he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: Jehovah is with you, while ye are with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

⁶ In my distress I called upon Jehovah,
And cried unto my God:
He heard my voice out of his temple,
And my cry before him came into his ears.

²⁴ For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Neither hath he hid his face from him;
But when he cried unto him, he heard.

Jehovah is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
Jehovah is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid? ² When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh,
[Even] mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

²² As for me, I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes:
Nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications,
When I cried unto thee.

² Therefore will we not fear, though the earth do change,
And though the mountains be shaken into the heart of the seas

³ What time I am afraid, I will put my trust in thee.

I will cry unto God with my voice,
Even unto God with my voice; and he will give ear unto me. ² In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord:
My hand was stretched out in the night, and slacked not;
My soul refused to be comforted.

¹ I love Jehovah, because he heareth
My voice and my supplications. ² Because he hath inclined his ear unto me,
Therefore will I call [upon him] as long as I live. ³ The cords of death compassed me,
And the pains of Sheol gat hold upon me:
I found trouble and sorrow. ⁴ Then called I upon the name of Jehovah:
O Jehovah, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. ⁵ Gracious is Jehovah, and righteous;
Yea, our God is merciful. ⁶ Jehovah preserveth the simple:
I was brought low, and he saved me.

² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for Jehovah, [even] Jehovah, is my strength and song; and he is become my salvation.

² And he said,

I called by reason of mine affliction unto Jehovah,
And he answered me;
Out of the belly of Sheol cried I,
[And] thou heardest my voice.

⁷ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

⁵ For even when we were come into Macedonia our flesh had no relief, but [we were] afflicted on every side; without [were] fightings, within [were] fears. ⁶ Nevertheless he that comforteth the lowly, [even] God, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

⁸ Concerning this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. ⁹ And he hath said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for [my] power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

⁷ For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline.

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,
